Tails of the City was very accommodating and got my dog in quickly for a temperament evaluation. For boarding, they let you pick add-ons like dental treats and individual playtime. My dog returned home happy and super tired from all of the play time!

I just saw a job opening for Tails. It was for an overnight shift attendant for the dogs who remain overnight for care. It stated that the shift was 12 hours long - from 7pm to 7am, and that the pay was a total of $65 - yes that's just over $5 per hour for the shift, because as it stated - napping during the shift is allowed since it's an overnight shift and the dogs might be sleeping for part of that time. The question is - if you are a client, how much are you paying for your dog to get quality care while you are away, and do you believe that they will receive that care when Tails is only willing to pay their caretaker $5 per hour? Your peace of mind is worth a lot more than that.

so i dropped my dog off a few days ago and when he came home he was limping really bad on his back left leg. he’s is 13 years old so as a concerned owner i took him to the vet, only to find out he had broken his leg. when i called the facility, they claimed they had no idea of what was going on and got very aggressive over the phone. horrible customer service and they have no care for your pets. do not go here

Dogs are always happy and so well managed. Karyn and her staff are amazing. Great spot in Capitol Hill for your dog to spend their days while your at the office (especially if your office is your home during COVID19). They are the best!

They have such a heart for, and connection with, animals. I’ll never forget the time Kinzie met my grumpy, stubborn terrier. He was so taken with her, so delighted by her, that he went and brought her every single one of his toys so she could see them. That dog is a hard nut to crack, and Kinzie did it. Having these folks watch your pup is the right choice.

We booked a visit for our dogs yesterday, and a bath for one. The visits were confirmed in the morning. When we arrived, the girl had no idea we were scheduled, and she was clearly very stressed out about taking them for the day. She said she was the only one on site for the day with 25 dogs, and that she could not guarantee our dogs' safety if we left them. I'm very frustrated that our visit and bath were confirmed, but cancelled when we arrived for drop off. This is the second time I've had a similar experience with your business, but at least last time I was notified BEFORE I brought my dogs in. Frankly, I think we also deserve an explanation from someone responsible for this business. In addition to the huge inconvenience, it seems like workers and animals are at risk here. As someone who's been a vet tech, a dog trainer and a business owner... I would NOT recommend this business.

They are amazing! They are trustworthy, attentive, professional, and their Capitol Hill location is GORGEOUS. Two huge playrooms and lots of space for boarding. They also are actively involved in actively supporting LGBTQ BIPOC and closed their doors so employees could have the right to march and protest. They are an amazing LOCALLY owned business.

My dog has been petrified since I had this company walk him. I am afraid that they might have hit him. Called the office, and they stated that this is not their problem.

Great doggy daycare! Our pup had a great time running around with the other dogs. The employees are phenomenal and were very kind to us and our dog. They answered all of our questions and put us as ease leaving our dog there. We'll definitely be bringing our dog here regularly!

My puppy has been going to tails of the city daycare for a couple of months now and loves it. I have to give them most of the credit for socializing him with other dogs (and humans). He's a very affectionate boy, and I've walked in multiple times to him cuddling the staff :) I work downtown and commute from the south - it's much more convenient to drop him off here than scramble downtown.

Karyn is one of the nicest people I've met, and TOTC is a great place for all kinds of pups. Our dachshund Piper goes every day and is always SO excited to see everyone and play. Could not recommend this place highly enough!!

I dropped my dog off for one day and we will not be returning. He was injured and had to see a vet because his paw pad was torn pretty badly. None of the staff knew how it happened, probably because they weren't supervising him very well. By the looks of it, they have too many dogs to pay attention to them all. To make matters worse, they handled the situation by locking my dog in a room by himself for the rest of the day. They did not call me or take him to the vet. I don't think he was given any bathroom breaks or even water because he peed everywhere when I picked him up and he drank two bowls of water when we got home. I completely understand that dogs roughhouse and accidents happen, but they should have at least been watching the dogs and handled the situation better. The staff is very friendly and easygoing but I would not trust them to "look after" my dog again. It's absurd that I paid them $35 for my dog to get injured and stuck in a room all by himself for the day.

Took our doggo there for at least 2 years, sometimes a couple times a month, sometimes up to twice a week. At first our doggo loved it and came home exhausted... Then after a while he wasn't tired when he'd get home, like he hadn't been running and playing all day. I called and inquired about his behavior, maybe he was being too aggressive with the doggies that wanted to play with him, but they assured me all was fine. That he was very well behaved. The woman on the phone even sounded perplexed why I'd ask. Then I saw a picture on instagram of a dog all alone in a cage in the back while all the other dogs played in front of him. I asked why that was, and I got some excuse about someone being sick. But then, when I went to pick up our doggo he was in that cage. They try to hide the cages from view, by not allowing you to see into the dog area, but I saw him in there. We went back one more time and our doggo cried and whined, not wanting to go. I think some dogs have good experiences there and are just treated better than others for whatever reason. We've never been back and I won't reccomend this place to anyone.

My dog was hurt while at Tails of the City, resulting in a possible lifelong injury and an expensive vet bill. It's from an incident that's left me wondering if this is a result of poor supervision at this facility. I've brought my Corgi to Tails of the City once a week for about two months, knowing that small dogs play with big dogs. Before we moved to South Seattle, we went to another day care where it was the same thing, and we never had a problem. I got a call on the morning of Jan. 23 that she was "pounced on" by a dog when she walked by a couple of dogs playing. I was told she wasn't injured but was "favoring." Good information was not relayed to me on the situation, and I had to call my vet to seek clarity on "favoring." I immediately came to pick her up, and she had a terrible limp -- she wasn't even using her back right leg. When I got there, the woman changed the story a bit and said that my dog walked through the dogs playing. This seems very unlike my dog based on the behavior I see at dog parks. But my real question is, if small dogs and big dogs are playing together, why isn't there better supervision? Again, this was never an issue at our last day care. As if this wasn't disturbing enough, the woman then told me in an attempt to assess the "favoring" she pulled on the leg. If she's not a medical professional, I don't think it's ok she does any pulling. We left without any words of comfort from this staff member, and I took my dog to the vet. They gave her pain meds and had to give her xrays. She possibly has a torn ligament in her knee -- an injury that could return the rest of her life. We are waiting for the results. This visit cost me $400, an expense incurred possibly by the neglect of this facility. This is something that will really hurt my family's bottom line. I understand that accidents happen and that dogs will be dogs. But the fact my dog went to the last day care nearly half a year without incident, leads me to believe that there is some sort of poor supervision. Unprofessionalism by this organization has also led me to believe this. They've lost my paperwork twice. The first time it was lost, they didn't tell me until nearly three weeks of going in. This was problematic for me because it raised concerns that not every dog was going through a good process to make sure that they would play well in a daycare setting. The week before the injury when I dropped my dog to day care, the same woman who pulled her leg stood in the doorway of the facility, talking to a customer while holding my dog's leash -- inattentively. By standing in the doorway, between the parking lot and the dog area, my dog was stressed out. And the woman didn't address it or ask the customer to come in. Instead, my dog tugged around, ears back. I watched in my car's rearview mirror, uncomfortable to leave, and was finally about to get out of my car when they finally got inside. At this point, I almost took her home. There aren't many daycares in South Seattle, so I felt limited in my options, and decided daycare was better than her kennel while I was at work. I wish I took her out then. Needless to say, we will not be returning. It's been very disappointing and upsetting experience. With how unorganized and unprofessional the morning staff has been -- I almost feel like I should I have seen this coming. I did email the owner, and she apologized, and didn't charge us for the month. But this hardly makes right the emotional and financial stress this ordeal has caused. I regret ever going to this daycare.
