This was an emergency visit for our cat Cooper. We were able to get in to see Doctor Huston quickly. After an examination, The Doctor told us what she believed might be happening and asked if we would approve some further tests, which we did. After a short time, The Doc gave us an update and a plan to improve the well-being of Cooper. We were sent on our way with some medications and a through explanation on how to administer the meds, the time frame and what to look for in the next few days. Cooper is now much better and improving every day. In this time of having a difficult time even finding a vet and being able to make an appointment in a reasonable time period, it was refreshing for the Oregon Trail Clinic to get us in so fast and with positive results.

So sad that this place has gone so downhill. I used to like Dr Houston and took all my pets to her for years, not anymore!!!!! She lost all her other vets and staff that use to work there, closed down her Damascus location, now charges extra to use credit card, have to pay up front before even go to an appointment.... something is going on with her .......it’s all about the $$$$$$$$$$$

I've called 3 times and sent an email with no reply at all. My dog was due for vaccines and there was no effort made to contact me. Unfortunate, I had a lovely experience with the vets and staff here previously.

We came to the vet as an emergency visit. Our experience was top notch! Dr. Houston & her team treated us so respectfully. Our pup was nurtured and taken care of in the best way. This will absolutely be our new vet. It felt so good to finally trust a vet! We are so grateful!!

This place is all about money. I can't believe it! I just had my puppy there last month and paid almost $300 exam plus an eye drop to make him throw up. I had to pay $80 dollars just to get a spot, still I dealt with it because the vet seemed nice. Now I just called to get a price on how much it would cost to neuter our puppy and I was told basically that to get that information from the doctor I would need to pay again to reserve a spot, ate you kidding me! Not a place which has your pet's best interest in mind.

Terrible experience. We payed $1,000 and they gave us a misdiagnosis. Kept our scared dog in a back room for hours while waiting for blood work. Told us to go somewhere else for a restroom. Had to take our dog to Pet Smart to get the proper diagnosis and medication. They kept our dog in pain for 3 extra days from misdiagnosis. Refused to refund anything.

When initially making my appointment for my kitten to get a general exam and his vaccines, I had to call 3 different times to confirm appointment details like pricing, paying the deposit, and confirm that vaccinations were a part of my appointment (there was very little information provided from the rep during each phone call). I was required to make a deposit of $78 to reserve the appointment. When asked how much the appointment costs in total, I was told $78, which implied I was pre-paying for the appointment rather than making a deposit (I even made that comment while on the phone with the rep, and was not corrected). During the appointment, we discussed future neutering options. I was advised they have two packages (which both include various health tests, lab work, etc.) The minimum package was $700, and the more extensive package was $1000. They did not provide any information regarding what the bare bones minimum neutering would cost, just gave the option of the two packages they have and what they recommend. I told them I’d discuss and schedule later if desired. When leaving the initial appointment, I had an additional $90 due which I was unaware of prior. However, I did schedule an appointment a month out for his boosters that he would need, for the two shots he had been given that day. In the time prior to his booster shots, I was able to get him fixed and get his rabies shot elsewhere for significantly cheaper. When the day of his booster shots came, my husband took him in for me and upon reading my emailed receipt I see that they had given him not only his boosters but a rabies shot as well, which he did not need, which I did not request, which they did not tell me they would do. When my husband called and asked if receiving his rabies vax twice would have adverse affects, he was told that he “should have informed them that he had his rabies shot” - which, in theory, should not have mattered since I didn’t schedule him for a rabies shot. However, when my husband took him in, he did advise that he was fixed and they asked no clarifying questions about any further veterinary work done that could’ve prompted the conversation. They did not do their due diligence to make sure they were taking care of him correctly or to make sure we understand what these appointments entail. As a customer, you ask as many questions as you can, but without knowing packages, processes and procedures you rely on your vet tech’s and assistants to be thorough in their communication with you, which has not been the case for us with this clinic. Outside of the frustration of the situation, the rabies shot was an extra $45 that didn’t need to be spent. I will be taking my animals elsewhere going forward.

I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone I know! Not only did they miss diagnose my dog but tortured him by keeping him in the back where I was unable to be with him.. for two hour!. I made sure they were aware he is very nervous and anxious when at the vet..not sure what the obsession with me not being back there was all about but they claimed it was because he was in triage?(spelling?) all they really needed to do was a good nose to tail examination . $900 dollars later we received the diagnosis that his liver was in danger and sent us home with liver support meds. They definitely fish for expenses. They did labs as well( blood work, enzyme tests)…. We took him to another vet to get a second opinion and within 15 minutes we were told he has an ear infection and we’re sent home with ear drops. He would have been suffering with this ear infection while we were treating his liver which was not even the problem! After a couple days with using the ear drops he felt wonderful. In addition, This clinic has Very rude and unprofessional staff as well. Seems the only time they want to “care”about their poor service is when they see the one star negative review.. why not fix it when you are told you’re wrong in the first place?.. I’ve never been treated this way before by a vet clinic.

UPDATE 12/11/21 In response to owner comment: The prescription WAS not expired...no expiration date on the bottle (including photos)! Last filled 6/10/21 with 4 more refills remaining at 90 days each...that alone is a year...so what I hear you saying is that your veterinarians write prescriptions for in excess of 1 year and then tell patients that there prescriptions are no longer valid? Midway through their refills? HA! Seems pretty shady to me! Funny thing is I wasn't opposed to an exam...once the refills were empty, or AT THE MINIMUM, being told that at last refill date...but you know what they say, everything happens for a reason. And I am so grateful that my furbabies will now get the care they deserve! I honestly hope and pray that ALL prospective clients see all of your negative reviews and choose to take their animals to a place that they will be taken care of and not simply be seen as $$$$. UPDATE 12/6/21 If I could give zero stars I would! We will NEVER go back! Refusing to transfer a prescription that THEY gave refills on without an exam...MONEY HUNGRY VET is what they are! AND this should have been updated before now because Dr Carson MISSED a LARGE tumor on our dog. Totally incompetent! We almost did not go back after our last experience a little over 2 years ago but decided that we would give them another shot. We were very pleased with Dr. Carson!

First time taking my pet to Barlow Tail. Since my vet closed it's doors recently. Barlow Trail vet had my pet's records already I walked on the door told them my pets appointment time they ready knew his name.

The vet and other staff seem very nice, but it's only on the surface. They are doing nothing to help the feral cat population. They advertised a free spay or neuter on their website with the purchase of an exam which is $78.44 (the Village Vet website, which now redirects to Barlow Trail. They also didn't let me know they closed the Damascus clinic and I had to reschedule the appointment for the Sandy clinic after I showed up for the appointment and saw that it was closed). They make you pre-pay for the exam when making the appointment. I asked about the neuter when I made the appointment. I was told, "Yes, the vet will talk to you about that." At the appointment the vet told me the neuter is free, but it's part of a larger package of services that costs over $700. The vet told me if I want the neuter only then it's about $629. I rescued a stray cat and he needs to be neutered so he's not outside making more feral cats. This vet does not share the same compassion for animals. I think vets who don't genuinely care about animals should seek a different profession. Animals suffering outside is not their problem.

I called to ask some simple questions about some rabbits that were dumped that I have been trapping to rescue. The woman that answered the phone was very, very rude to me and completely unprofessional. This makes me not want to give them business. How dare you take your bad day out on a stranger. Do better Barlow Trail Vet.

Dr. Jamie is wonderful with the pets. She listens to you and them. She has the pets best interest at heart, and speaks in plain terms. Super hapoy we found her.

I have been a client at village vet(Damascus for many years) and tried to make an appointment at Barlow Trail, because Damascus was close and was told I had to pay $78 to make an appointment. That is ridiculous. I always paid at the time of service. No other vet does this that I know of.

We took my girlfriend's cat there cause he was sick they took the cat back into a room without us shaved his neck and then came out and tried to charge us a bunch of money after telling us it was gas and maybe something else but they're not sure unless they run $300 in tests. Ended up paying a bunch of money for a little bit of antibiotics that we're supposed to have 10 refills. They barely gave us enough for 3 days. I drove from TROUTDALE all the way out to SANDY, OREGON to get refill and they were closed even though the answering machine said that they were open. All that stress and hassle just to find out the next day that we don't get any refills unless we pay for another office visit and blood tests done.

Amazing vet service, I'm from NY and I couldn't wait to bring my cat home to get his shots so I brought him here and I was highly impressed. The vet was awesome with him, and extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended.

We unfortunately lost our fur baby last Sunday while on vacation in Welches it was heart breaking. Unknown issues we were aware of. We rushed our babe here for an emergency appointment. Being that we were a few minutes behind we paid 300.00 for an appointment because the doctor had to skip her lunch. Trust. No one wants you to miss that. Dr Houston was incredibly sweet and educated. The team was kind. We had to let our babe cross the bridge. And Dr Houston made her journey very comforting. There's not words when these things happen. But we appreciated the kindness of the team. My only wow was the 300 emergency appointment because of a lunch. Outside of that. Thank you all.

We have been taking our cats here for years and couldn't be happier with this clinic. I love how transparent they are with pricing, they always go over cost and give options beforehand, so there is never any surprise at the end of the appointment. The staff is very compassionate, and always speak kindly to the cats and pet them, and once even got down on the floor to do an exam because one of them wouldn't get back on the table! I recommend this clinic to all my friends and family in the area.

I cannot say enough good things about BTV. They got my dachshund in for an emergency when I was here for the summer, and treated her like she was their own. Dr Houston took time to walk me through all our options, patiently walked me through her xrays, and got my dog treated and home so quickly. You are in the best hands when you are here!
