Our solid black Schraderhaus GSD is now almost 7 months old (12/22/20 litter), and we are absolutely thrilled with her. She's our first large dog, and Jean was very helpful in choosing a puppy that would fit us well. We were looking for a nice family pet with some protection capabilities, too. Our pup is super smart and very sweet. We work every day on positive training, and now without fail, every time we go out, people comment on what a beautiful dog she is and ask if I'm a professional dog trainer! (Not at all... I've read a lot about training because I want her to be a great dog, but she's so smart and hard-working that she's been easy to train.) She's a joy to have in our family. Jean was easy to work with and very knowledgeable about the breed and the strengths of each of her litters depending on the personalities/skills of the parents, etc. We wouldn't hesitate to go back to her when it's time for a second GSD.

I have owned a pure DDR dog purchased from Jean for almost 5 years. I wanted to share my experience. When first researching Jean’s website (I searched many websites and talked with multiple breeders throughout the US), I was impressed with all the info regarding her dogs and the pairings. A deposit was placed a year in advance as the pairing I wanted had already been sold out. The dog I purchased from Jean is a dream! I had her tested very young to determine if she had the instincts to protect. No problem there! Yet she is social enough to take into stores and has no issue being pet by strangers in a social setting. Jean’s dogs are not golden retrievers disguised to look like shepherds. They are the real deal. My dog will not be best friends with everybody she meets. She will greet them and tolerate them but if she senses uneasiness from me, she is all business. In dog class, another person had one of Jean’s dogs. He was another beautiful example of what Jean breeds. Unfortunately the person did not have the disposition to take control of a dog with his temperament. Again, these are not docile dogs dressed up as shepherds. Socialization, training, and an understanding of the “pack” mentality are necessary to get the best out of these dogs. I would buy from Jean again in a heartbeat. This is the 4th shepherd I have owned. She has exhibited all the characteristics I was looking for in a shepherd: intelligence, stability, playfulness, willingness to please, protectiveness, trainability, ...the list goes on.

Looking for a dog breeder is no easy matter. If you are looking for a working line GSD in the PNW look no further. If you are not prepared to devout the time and sacrifices necessary for a high end puppy I recommend you look elsewhere if you do not have the resources or effort to care for such a high end dog. Jean took the find a temperament that would be right for my home within reason. Her websites alone are a wealth of knowledge and I urge you to fully research them prior to talking to Jean. She runs a clean facility mostly by herself that is impressive that I saw on 3 separate occasions. Thank you Jean for the the addition to our family.

I have purchased 3 dogs from Jean over the years and they were all wonderful. She loves her dogs and wants to know how they are doing even years after the puppy stage. All her dogs are very smart, well cared for and, well, awesome. They are truly what a German Shepherd should be. Thank you Jean for Konner, Xyrus and Jessa! Jean is an awesome breeder! She is a great lady and breeds healthy, intelligent, gorgeous dogs. She is always very responsive to questions and stands behind her dogs 100%, always looking out for their best interest. Her facility is clean and her dogs are well loved and cared for. All in all she is everything you want from a responsible breeder. If anyone is giving her a bad review it is because something is wrong with that individual person, NOT Jean. Schraderhaus is one of the BEST gsd breeders in the United States.

Jean is a wonderful breeder. She is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. She helped me choose a wonderful puppy to add to my family, she is exactly what I asked for. So far we have completed our CGC and our novice trick dog title. Before I went to her home to see the puppies she was in regular contact with me. Answered all my emails promptly. And when it was time to go get my puppy we sat in her living room and talked about dogs for at least two hours. I will definitely be getting my next German Shepherd Dog puppy from Jean at Schraderhaus. Thanks Jean!! :)

We waited 12 weeks for a puppy. Initially everything seemed normal and of good practice; but all of a sudden the puppy we were constantly wondering of it’s condition was sick. There were practically never any updated photos of the puppies and we were not allowed to visit the kennels. When we asked what was the diagnosis of the sick puppies we were told “don’t worry I’ll just give you your deposit back” we waited a while longer to see if the prognosis would come back with a good result but Jean never seemed interested in ensuring the puppies were okay but she would rather give us our money and move on. I would not recommend this breeder and the photos on the website do not accurately represent the condition of the welping room and kennels.

Jean canceled on us 3 times with less than 24hours notice when we had appointments to come see a puppy. She did everything she could do to try and get us to buy the dog sight unseen and was very rude when we said we wanted to come check out the litter in person. Then 1 week before picking up our new dog... and AFTER we had put down a deposit.... She called and said she was REFUSING to sell us a dog because she found out we had looked at another breeder. The fact that she is so insecure that she needs to refuse to sell dogs to anyone who looks at another breeder to compare pups is BEYOND insane. I am still shocked at how we were treated and I hope this review makes you stop and this before dealing with her.

My husband and I have purchased two wonderful puppies from Jean. She is very knowledgeable and helped pick out the best puppy for us each time. We found her facilities to be extremely clean and all the dogs well cared for. I would highly recommend Schraderhaus .
