Dr. Scott is a very good veterinarian. I know my dogs receive the best care.

Rude owner who treats her staff awfully. I have never heard someone be so nasty to both customers and staff. I would not support this business if it was the last vet clinic in Portland

Worked here for a few months, and it is my opinion that the other reviews that describe how poorly the staff is treated, as well as the conditions of the hospital and sketchy practices seem to be true in my experience. Dr. Scott was incredibly rude to clients and staff during my time there (as you can see from many other reviews), frequently and randomly decided if she will or will not see your pet depending on whatever reason she felt like, even cancelling appointments the day of, as well as many many other things including nonexistent covid safety in the back areas around her staff. I did not and would not feel comfortable bringing my pets here.

I worked for this clinic for two weeks and left the clinic because I was concerned about some sketchy practices in regards to patient care. As a former employee, Dr Scott refuses to pay me. This is how she treats former employees...so you can imagine the kind of care your animals get when you are not present.

The staff is always good with my animals. The veterinarian, Dr Scott, has treated my previous 2 feral rescues as well as the present 3. Her rates are very reasonable and I can book an appointment fairly quickly (3 days vs 3 weeks at a bigger practice with multiple vets)

The vet techs were amazing, but the vet spent the whole visit yelling at them and showed up an hour late to our appointment. I feel so sorry for whoever has her as a boss.

Excellent veterinarian. Listens. Gets to the heart of the diagnosis and discusses options well.

Unbelievably unprofessional. I’ve never been talked to like that in my life, was treated with complete disrespect for absolutely no reason other than the receptionist must have been having a bad day?

Waited 10 mins past my appointment time for the vet to unlock the door, the vet was really really rude to her staff the whole time. Even though the vet was late she still tried to force my in pain dog out early for her next appointment.

Absolutely love the team here. Very professional, but they also genuinely enjoy animals. Plan an extra few minutes for every appointment, especially if your animals are cute, the staff will want to play!

I wish I could say something good about Overlook Veterinary Hospital, the doctor Rebecca Scott or Erica the vet tech, but I can't in good conscience. I had THE most bizarre and unprofessional experience I've ever had anywhere in my 40 years at this place a month and a half ago... I live right up the street, so when I brought my new fur baby home this seemed like a good place to start. We had a normal check-up, baby boy got his 2nd shot, and i got a little plastic tube to take home to collect feces for a recommended snap test. Snap test turns up "lightly" positive for Giardia. I pay for the recommended treatment of metronidozol - which as it turns out is very dangerous for a 3 lb puppy, but that's another issue... I am sent home with 3.5 ml of a super viscous liquid medicine distributed in a much larger bottle that was at least 1 oz in size. In other words: a tiny amount of a super thick liquid in a bottle that was way too big. Fast forward two days into the eight day treatment when I couldn't get any more of the medication out of the bottle because it was clinging to all the walls. I call back and let them know. The first thing out of Erica's mouth was "well, I know I put 3.5 ml in there". I say, "well, I can't get it out". Erica makes it very clear that somehow this was all my fault, and i attempted to make clear that it wasn't - fending off her redirect with the notion that somehow I severely overdosed my puppy, or that somehow I am the problem in this equation. Erica says "I'll talk to the doctor and get back to you". She called back next day saying "we don't know what happened, but we're just going to call this his treatment." once again, stonewalling and redirecting with the notion that somehow this is my fault. So I call back again asking to talk to doctor Rebecca Scott, because i'm pretty blown away and thinking: 'no way could they actually treat their clients this way?!', but she didn't return the call. It's then I realize what's going on, and I go in to the clinic because I'm stubborn like that. I stepped in the door and announced who i was to the receptionist. Rebecca Scott, who was standing right in front of me, chose not to say one word and just walked away. Erica takes me aside and once again blames me for their irresponsible distribution of a tiny amount of a incredibly viscous solution in huge bottle (because apparently the physics of all this is my fault too). Erica actually pointed to the bottle at one point saying "well then why is it (the medicine) clinging to the walls?!". . She closed with "we can test him again in a couple weeks". *facepalm* As if this was a comfort. AS IF I WOULD COME BACK and pay all over again to be put through this a second time. In short: These ladies distributed their prescribed medication in what is probably the most inefficient manner possible and then refused to replace it in a container that I could it out of. Let me repeat: they refused to redistribute 3.5 ml of medicine. This is little more than .5 a teaspoon of medicine folks. They put me though five days of hell with Erica's stonewalling me and trying to convince me that somehow I overdosed my puppy, they compromised the very treatment they had prescribed for my baby, and all of it so they could nickle and dime me for little more than 1/2 a teaspoon of this medicine. By the end of it all it was clear that Erica's approach to "patient care" was welcome by Rebecca Scott. I'll give it to her, Erica is a fantastic henchman! Very good at redirecting and shutting people down. I bet she saves you loads of money, Rebecca. SHAME ON YOU. The both of you. Archie's Mom

I appreciate this place so much. I originally picked it due to it's convenient location for me. I'll be moving to another neighborhood soon and plan on making the 30+ minute drive just to keep them as my vet. Dr. Scott was patient and informative when my female cat was having bladder issues. I was clearly stressed but Dr. Scott and her team helped me stay calm and collected. She recommended a prescription diet and adding a drinking fountain to promote drinking fluids. It worked! Years later, my cat has been doing great. Love them!

Dr. Rebecca Scott is dynamite! She's smart, caring, and has a great sense of humor. The entire staff was attentive and genuinely interested in exchanging cat stories. I really love this place. They took very good care of my cat friend.

This is a great vet. We've brought our cat here for checkups and sick visits, and we've been pleased with the care we received. Their staff really takes the time to listen, and they have been patient with my elderly cat. Definitely recommend.

Not only do they overcharge for many basic services ($28 to clip your dog's nails), when my dog was hit by a car and I rushed him there to see if he had internal bleeding they were "too busy" to see him because they had standing appointments. Seems they don't understand the notion of triage? Needless to say, they are no longer my vet.

I have great service most of the years that I have been coming here. There are on occasions that people can get frustrated and scared and not here everything someone is saying, however, the staff at Overlook Veterinary Hospital has been a great help. I have had some not so good times here too, It happens. However, they can only treat what you tell them. Just like your regular doctor. And waiting to long to bring them in doesn't help either. Then there is a major host of symptoms that cannot be explained until they are doing blood work and everything else under the sun. Wellness check ups save you a lot of money and time and heartache.

We've been using this clinic recently after our old fav was taken over by a big chain. The care is very personal but a bit slow. Both factors are from the same cause, the clinic is very small, only one Doctor. I notice that appts can take awhile to get in but that comes from the personal care received. We even received a followup call on one of our pups, inquiring how she was doing. Now THAT is personal care. Prices seem reasonable.

I have been a customer there for a couple of years and have taken two of my dogs there for exams and the basics. I now have a male kitten who appears to have a UTI. After a little research the net says that a UTI can kill a cat if not treated quickly. Realizing that it is a few days until payday (tuesday-friday) and I just had a few other expenses that were unexpected, I am broke until Friday. So I called my Vets office to ask if I could bring him up and have him treated and give a post dated check for Friday since I am a patient there. They quickly stated NO. I could see it if I was some random unheard of patient from out of town, but I'm a patient that lives down the street. For a place to act like they care so much about the health of all animals, it sure seems that they first care about money before anything else. So I then called my old Vets office that is a little home town office and they said "NO PROBLEM, we just need to treat him right away" ! That is the Vets office that has once again earned my business and will keep it! Big fancy places that talk the talk are big and fancy because of the money they overcharge but they can never walk the walk. I'm sticking to the small places ! If you go there use caution, they try to sell everyone all kinds of meds and herbal stuff that your animals don't need!
