Quite a drive for me (5 hours each way) and worth every moment. The professionals at the front desk are wonderful from start to finish and Dr ONORATI is simply the BEST bird doc there is. My macaw loved him right away (and she is hesitant with most new people). He gives accurate, up to date information and will help you optimize your birds care. I love that he treats food as medicine and always gives great advice. I met him when my flock lived in the area and I moved and tried to find a local vet but well, let's just say that vets who see birds are not necessarily avian vets and there's nobody like Dr ONORATI. Thank you all ????. Skittles is happy to be home and I'm happy we came back ????

Dr. Onorati has been my vet for almost 10 years now. Even when I've moved a significant distance from his practice, I still travel to it with my animals because I trust him so much. He has an incredible love for animals that shows, he is informative with me, and compassionate in the times where I have lost a pet.

Dr. Onorati and staff are the BEST! They truly care about the animals they treat and they don't gouge you. You can afford to have your fur babies treated without the worry of going bankrupt. They have helped us through a difficult decision regarding end of life. Dr Onorati took the time to call me so I could talk about my concerns. He gave me his best insight, didn't tell me what to do but made me feel confident in the decision we made. I can't say enough positive things about them, just so happy we found Dr. Onorati and Des Moines Vet.

I was panicking because I had a sick chicken that I needed seen sooner than later and no one could get me in for weeks/months. They were able to squeeze me in between appts and were very friendly!

My pets love it there!!

My original review was 5 starts after my first visit with them. My hamsters teeth needed to be trimmed because he couldn't eat and after that initial visit he was gaining weight after he had lost a lot of weight. At least that's what they told me. I had said I was still concerned about his weight when I came back 3 weeks later for a check up. They told me he was fine and I said he still looked thin but they said he was fine. On March 28th my hamster passed away. He was not gaining weight like they told me and when I took him to another vet the day he died, they said his teeth were still to long and not cut correctly. I do not recommend this vet for hamsters. They don't seem to know how to care for sick hamsters or even cut their teeth properly. I wasn't going to change review because it was difficult to have to come back and explain the situation, but if this can save someone's hamster, it's all I want. If you need a vet for your rodent, look around, ask them if they're comfortable with rodents beyond just teeth and nail trims. The vet I went to when my sweet boy died were amazing. They gave me information the day before to care for my hamster because they didn't have any appointments till April. Sadly it was to late. Dr. Onorati is really the best. We have a Doxie and kitty that are under the care of "tranquil James." The Doc. will be canine whispering to a new member of our family soon, little Zoey our Yorkie. Zoey is only 10 days old so she will have to wait a bit to meet her superb Veterinarian.

We have quite the diva in our house aka family feline, and Dr. Onorati has such a patience and care with him, including an amazing personality himself. We are very happy to receive his help. And would highly recommend his services to all.
