Posting this review over a couple months after a board and train with Michael. I can easily say that my dogs behavior and training have continued to persist and even improve after the training. It has given not only my dog the foundation to obey and behave, but also myself to be confident in my own control over him. I would highly recommend putting your dog through the two week board and train. It is very impressive and gave me a better understanding of and connection with my dog. Thanks Michael!!

We had an amazing experience with Off Leash K9 Training’s 2-Week Board and Train! Our one year old vizsla pup has a lot of energy and gets very excited around other dogs, birds, people, water, etc. She’s a smart girl but was struggling in a few major areas. Within 2 weeks, Taylor had her heeling off leash in highly distracted environments! She’s also so much better with duration in all her basic commands. Not only that but we got daily updates on her progress and knew she was being taken care of very well. We wouldn’t send our pup to just any board and train, but we’d 100% recommend Taylor through Off Leash K9 Training to any of our family/friends. You won’t be disappointed!

My uncontrollable, oversized puppy came back from training with Malia following instructions, less leash reactive, and prey driven. It is a lot of work to maintain the training but it is worth the struggle, time, and money! About 2 months after I got my dog back from training, her ecollar stopped working (and the company is sending me a replacement), so until the replacement arrives, she is responding only to voice commands. She has done so well; not as well as with the collar, but following commands withing 2-3 repetitions. Thanks so much, Malia!!

We bought a 4-session package online for our corgi dog (Porky) and worked with Michael. He was AWESOME! Definitely the best dog trainer I ever worked with and we have worked with many in this area. We worked on basic obedience with our dog and he made great strides. The first session wouldn’t even sit. By the end of the 4th session our corgi can sit, come, lay down, heel and will lay on bed or wherever we point on command. He would give us homework to work on and we would. We are confident now Porky will retain these commands and is just much, much better trained after just 4 weeks. I highly recommend working with Michael for any type of dog you may have at any age. He is very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. You can ask him questions and he always had a good answer for us. He also is a nice guy overall. I will make referrals for him going forward and will also buy more sessions for our other Husky dog who could benefit from his training. Go see for yourself…you will not be disappointed I almost guarantee.

Stop. Just do it. Sign up. Call them. You will NOT regret it! It will be worth the wait, I promise you this. (Even for small dogs - small dog owner here!) I am not being dramatic when I say that Michael honestly saved my relationship with my new rescue dog. I was at my wits end with her reactivity - I was in completely over my head. I had already done two full courses of local class training and then three sessions with a personal trainer focusing on positive reinforcement only (R+). Not only did this not help, but her reactivity worsened. I was starting to contemplate rehoming her because I was so mentally and emotionally exhausted. I was failing her - I was failing both of us. I was hesitant to sign up for E-Collar training.. But, just like I tell my patients (I'm a nurse), the internet tends to focus heavily on the bad side of things and not the positives. From the moment I first called Michael I knew I had made the right decision. He assessed the situation I described with my dog and determined that boarding would not be the best option for her specifically because her issue stems from resource guarding ME. I cried after our first session together. I cried after our most recent session together.. and it was out of relief each time. These lessons not only give me the tools I need, but they also give me HOPE because I get to see that my dog is not this total reactive, psychotic lost cause.. Within minutes of being there Michael is able to show me how to effectively communicate with her. Literally every issue I have come to him with, I am not kidding, he has taught me how to navigate within MINUTES. Michael not only is effective in communicating with dogs, but equally so with people. He is the type of teacher that never makes you feel stupid or incompetent for not already knowing something. I have never once felt ashamed or embarrassed. I am so thankful for his communication skills and the kind and professional way he carries himself. I am telling you, I have texted this poor man with frantic inquiries about my dog's behavior and he always responds with the most level-headed advice -- the fact that he will answer my questions, even when I'm not in session, means so much to me. I did not expect this review to be so long and, frankly, I could go on even longer. I feel like Michael has gifted me the next 15 (or may even more) years of life with my best friend, Rosy, and for that I will forever be grateful.

Our puppy, Scout, recently did a 2 week board and train with Tana and we can't recommend her enough! We looked into a number of different trainers/facilities before deciding on Off Leash K9. Their responsiveness, thoroughness in explaining their process/style, and professionalism sealed the deal for us. Throughout Scout's training, Tana sent daily updates, videos, and photos showing us his progress. She was super communicative and explained what she was working on with him every few days. Leaving your dog with anyone isn't easy, but we knew right off the bat that Scout was in great hands. At the end of Scout's training, we met with Tana so that we could be "trained" ourselves. We couldn't believe the transformation that Scout had made. We had requested that she work on a number of different things - jumping up on people, walking on/off leash, recall & counter-surfing...among other things. Scout was SO well-behaved when we reunited with him; we could tell that he (and Tana) had worked so hard! We especially appreciated the "after" video that Tana put together documenting their 2 weeks together - it was super fun to see where Scout started, and where he ended up after the training. We'd highly recommend Off Leash K9 and Tana to anyone looking into dog training - they are fantastic!

Worth Every penny! Michael was great with my dog and great with training me. The sessions were informative, easy and you can see changes in real time. My dog is more confident and we have a better relationship. I now have tools that I can continue to use and build on as well. Highly recommend.

I decided to send my 5.5 month old GSD/Lab puppy to board and train with Taylor and it was the best decision I've ever made. The entire process was smooth and easy. The hardest part was only being able to see my pup in the daily updates that I got from Taylor. I've always trained my own dogs but I needed Hazel to get up to speed quickly and I couldn't be happier with the results. Thank you sooooo much Taylor. You will be a part of our story forever. You have given Hazel and me an amazing gift.

This was such a great experience, I feel like I have learned so much. My trainer was Michael. He really took the time to explain everything and answer any questions that I had. My dog is completely changed from when we first started. And I have the confidence to take him anywhere now. Definitely recommend!!

I met with Malia for Basic and Advanced Training with my anxious dog. She is so knowledgeable and patient, took the time to get to know my dog and the things we want to work on. Malia was such a great help to us with our 2 year old German Shepard. We weren't used to working with dogs who were reactive and were not properly socialized as puppies. She helped us gain confidence in communication with him and helped our pup feel more confident and comfortable around other dogs. It was a very worth while investment!!

I cannot say enough good things about Malia, our trainer, and the philosophies that she is teaching ME alongside my pup, Hercules. Hercules is a mixed breed rescue who has displayed some aggressive behaviors due to his protective instincts and his lack of confidence. I’ve had dogs all my life and have never utilized professional training until Hercules because of the bite risk. She has been so incredibly in tune with Hercules from the moment we met her. She has helped me to be able to recognize his signals and read his body language so that I can do better to keep him out of situations where he might make a bad decision. We just went on a walk with one of her dogs in a pretty busy park and I was almost in tears because of how well it went. Hercules is a completely different dog, and I have to say that I’m a completely different dog owner. This training is 100% an investment in the long term relationship between you and your dog. Our lives are changed because of it. And Hercules is one happy guy!!!

My pup will be a constant work in progress but I’m so excited to have this training as a tool to navigate life with her. Malia is calm and attentive and helped me understand a trigger for my dog that I wasn’t even aware of. As an owner you have to stay vigilant and continue to work with your dog but this program really helps you hone in on the how and why. I would recommend it to anyone.

We went to Off Leash K9 Training because our puppy was showing protective and mild aggressive tendencies. Being a rescue, we knew that this wasn't really her fault, but something in her experience triggering it. Michael Heinevetter was assigned to our pup and he helped us see what she was going through and how we can help her. Over the course of the 8 session course, we learned techniques that will help Kiki see the world differently in addition to gaining the tools we needed to make her feel safe and protected. The course we got was the 8 class aggression training. The first four weeks were dedicated to basic training, getting our pup acclimated to basic commands, sit, down and heel. The next four classes included in-classroom training as well as training in a park with Michael. He taught us how to direct her attention away from what's currently distracting her, and bring it back to us. But he also watched us do it a few times and gave us pointers and corrected us when we did it wrong, which was crucial to learning this right. We would highly recommend the place for your puppy, especially Michael.

We started working with Malia and within 3 sessions noticed a huge improvement in our crazy golden retriever Teddy. She's very hands on and patiently guides us through training techniques so we can have the most effective sessions with Teddy at home. Malia is a professional, but she's also super fun and personable. A great balance to make us look forward to every session we have with her. Loved taking my pup for training. It was a bit of a drive for me but worth it to go. We just finished our last session and throughout the process I’ve been surprised how well my pup picks up the new skills. Malia was a great trainer for my Husky puppy. She was very attentive to his personality and how to best train him. He and I both had a blast through it all.

Easily some of the best money I have ever spent. Our trainer, Michael, was fantastic. Kept us up to date with our pup's progress everyday. We were handed over a puppy that will sit, lay down, go to place, no-leash heel, and most importantly come when he is called after just 2 weeks. We are so happy with the results and I will without question use them again when the time comes and we have another pup.

Hoku and I had a great time working with Malia. Simple yet very effective instructions. Training starts as soon as we get out of my van. If Malia is close enough to my van and notice Hoku is not following her commands, she immediately helps us as to what we should do. Hoku no longer takes me for walks, I take her ????. Mahalo Malia!!

We have a very energetic and social golden retriever who would always get overly excited and distracted by her surroundings, especially with new people and on walks. After two weeks with Michael we have an energetic and social golden who listens to corrections and is eager to please, remaining calm in the midst of what is going on around her. We are so thankful to Michael for the training and tools to maintain what our pup has learned. We no longer stress over unpredictable behavior.
