This facility is clearly all about the money. My wife and I recently moved to the area and needed to establish vet care for our two dogs here. I had my miniature dachshund seen for his yearly vaccinations and a lipoma on his chest. A biopsy was performed and the day after he developed a rash on his armpit. We assumed it was an allergic reaction to the cleansing solution used prior to taking the biopsy. This vet office has you wait in a examination room while they take your pet back to a private room, so I was not able to see what was done during this time. When the rash got worse, we called asking if they would see our dog. The vet tech I spoke with, informed me that this rash could not have originated at there facility because they don't use any form of cleansing solution prior to taking a biopsy (seems strange to me, but I'm not the expert). The only way they would see him again was with a $160 fee for an emergent care visit. This is after the $650 appointment for the biopsy and his yearly vaccinations. Not having an additional $160 in our budget after the cost of the first appointment, we attempted to treat it at home. Cleansing the rash site and using "hot spot" spray daily did not help. It developed an ulcer type open wound and pus filled bubbles that spread out away from the rash to his chest and stomach. With all the signs of a bacterial skin infection, I decided to go back in to the vet clinic, as they were not returning my phone calls, to ask to be seen for what undoubtedly started from poor sterilization practices (they verbally confirmed this on the phone with me). I was told they would not look at my dogs armpit or prescribe antibiotics without the emergent care visit charges, even with all the evidence I had. I have photos from the day the rash started and to what it progressed to now. Money is the only important thing at Wheaton Way Veterinary Hospital and if they mess up, you won't know because you will not be with your pet during any treatment. Fortunately, this happened before bringing my second dog in for his vaccinations, so I did not have to give any more money to this office. I wouldn't return to this vet for free services. Also, after calling another vet in town who is willing to see our dog for this issue, they confirmed that it is "very odd" that they wouldn't cleanse the site prior to a biopsy.

A small improvement would be to provide a more robust receipt after the visit. Include the pets weight, drs notes, details about tests/bloodwork, exam notes. The receipt today is just that, a receipt. It left me wishing all the helpful notes from the dr/assistant had been captured so I could keep a really decent log of my visits.

Bottom line... They know what they are doing. But because of Covid-19... People skills need a polish up.

Formerly a 5 star review. Last time i went, they had excellent service, nice staff and were effective and professional. They are very good to pets. Why its 1 star: 2 years ago, I had an appointment with them. When I left, for whatever reason, I wasn't billed. I remember asking the front desk, they had said no, I thought it was because I was, at the time, planning to come in at a later appointment for I believe worm/flea treatment for my dogs. I ended up cancelling that appointment and completely forgot about the payment. As far as I know, they never tried to contact me to receive payment; that being said, I should have done my due diligence and followed up. Anyway, a year later I get a call from collections about that bill and immediately pay it. A year after (about 2 weeks ago) I make an appointment for a general wellness visit since we didn't get one due to covid last year. Today I have been informed that they are no longer allowing service to me because it went to collections a year ago. They refuse service completely, even going so far as to refuse to let me pay in advance in order for them to ensure payment of services. Fair enough, annoying for me, but fair. Unfortunately, though, they have blanket banned my pets and are not allowing anyone to take them to that location (asked about having my husband or a friend take them in as separate clients instead since I'm not allowed service and they already have their records) but they told me no, they they won't see my pets under any circumstance but they can send their records out and as far as I know, it's a perma-ban, so it won't expire in a few years. So yeah. Basically, the actual service is good, excellent really, but be warned if you make a mistake in payment, your pets, regardless of you, will no longer be welcome.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. We have a rescue mastiff that has fear aggression, they let me go in with Mihn to help ease her anxiety at her appointment. Other vets when asked if this was something they could accommodate I was told no not at this time. Very thankful we found them

We got our dog from a coworker who used this office, and she had already paid for all of his shots. They would send her automated emails about setting up appointments and then never be available to schedule one. We tried to get his shot records and were told he could not be moved from the coworkers account until his shots are done, and then she was told that ownership had already been transferred. We were calling for weeks to get his shot records. Finally, we get ahold of a manager and describe the situation, who tells us that they deactivated his account because of the new owner and never tried to add any of our information. We have to make an account, put him on it, and then get notated that he doesn't pay for any of his shots, especially considering they never refunded my coworker. We finally get his shot records and his shots finished, only to try and have them push even more medications and vaccines for him after everything we just went through. The most unprofessional vet I have ever seen. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THESE ANIMALS, THEY CARE ABOUT TAKING YOUR MONEY. I would give them no stars if I could.

This Vet and staff are not responsive. I took my cat in for care and the vet recommended we get X-rays because of a suspected lump in the cats abdomen. We were told the results would be in the next day. We waited until the next afternoon to call about the results and we were told the results were in but the Vet had to be the one to release the results. We were told the vet would call us that evening, but he never did. We called back first thing in the morning to ask to speak to the vet and the receptionist was rude. It took a day and a half to get results and it should not take that long for what they charged for their services.

Dr. Luttenin and staff treated my cat and myself with so much tender care and compassion! He solved the mystery of what caused my young cat's sudden downturn and saved his life! And he and his staff are so willing to share info and teach with patience. My cats medication involved 5 pills a day for a while - this was overwhelming for me, but the fantastic vet tech Jessica very patiently gave me multiple tutorials and even let me watch her struggle with the task of pilling him. They made sure we would be successful. And my cat's medical bills for full diagnostics, medications, and repeat blood draws were very reasonable. Of course, though this time he was a miracle worker, Dr. Dave cannot fix every health issue. The week before he saved my cat, he had to put my sister's cat to sleep. He has also taken care of end-of-life care for my parents' elderly dog. No matter the situation, Dr. Dave Luttenin has shown myself and my family that he will be straight forward with what he can and cannot do, what the options will cost, and hr and his staff will provide care to pets and owners with tender compassion no matter what. I seriously appreciate this clinic.

Brought my dog in with a few issues and they took care of her right away. They were attentive, took everything I said into account and they were so gentle with her. She's a big baby, at almost 8 years old and just loves to be loved and they did a great job of that. Thank you for everything.

The vets here are compassionate, and completely committed to the well-being of your pets. They also don't gouge the parents of said pets. So it's a winning combination.

Horrible! And I haven’t even gone here yet. I called to get some information and the lady very rudely put me on hold, she could have asked nicely but was absolutely rude. Then later just hung up on me like she had better things to do! Rushed me off the phone. They just lost a potential customer.
