Stay away from this rescue. I found it via petfinders and had to report them to petfinders quality team for harassment from the owner. I emailed her asking about a dog later to find out an adoption requirement was feeding him a indie brand of "human grade food" I informed her I would not be willing to purchase from that brand in particular and would likely choose another quality dog food brand so placing that dog in my home wouldn't be a great fit and thanked her for the time. She responded by rant like harassing emails because I would not subscribe to her dog food small business. Told her I was no longer interested in the dog and to quit emailing me. She stopped only when I told her I was calling quality control on Petfinders and reporting her. It was such a shocking unprofessional experience I stopped my dog search for a few days, seriously... get your dog anywhere but here. Lady, dogs can eat dog food! There are loads of great brands filled with loads of great ingredients. A dog does not need a "human grade" meal to have a balanced healthy diet. Dogs can eat dog food, we don't all have to subscribe to your small business to feed our dogs a balanced meal. Psycho.

Dawn, Cheryl, and Leanne are the best people to work with. They are professional and caring in what they do. I've never had a group of women be so helpful with our endeavor to find a fur baby. If for some reason it doesn't work out the first time these women will do everything in there power to help you find the right doggie. I couldn't have had a better experience. Thank you again ladies.

I'm writing this review to let individuals know to stay away from this rescue. They are unwilling to adopt a single dog to you as they state you need to have another dog in your house already???? In my experience, this policy has only ever existed at unqualified passion project shelters. The owner should stop posting her animals if she is unwilling to adopt them. EDIT: Owner found me on Facebook and PMd me. I've never requested to adopt an animal here and I never, ever will. I will never support this business. Take your ads off Petfinder as they are extremely deceptive. Having a dog already as a condition to adopt another dog does not consider the animal itself, it's comfort level OR the capability of a person to handle multiple animals. Don't PM people randomly. Its a bad look.

Was looking into this shelter & can see from all the reviews & application that the woman who runs this institution is a complete loone & keeps pets from finding good home with caring owners based on some pretty ridiculous grounds (like you choosing to feed past/current pets kibble that was vet recommended) and then feels like she's some "superior pet guru" that has the right to belittle loving pet owners for their choice of pet food or for no longer having the ability to care for pets & them trying to find a new & better home for them like a responsible person instead of letting them fall into neglect. Shame on her & her practices! I highly doubt she knows better than a veterinarian that has been schooled in the proper care of animals. I highly recommend you looking elsewhere when it comes to adoption and or if you are in need of rehoming your beloved companion.

I called to look for my cat, who is lost. Being an indoor/outdoor cat owner I am FULLY aware of the risks, but he's lived this long outdoors and I'm not going to just give up on him when his mom is still alive and with us. The woman went on to tell me he was likely dead and all the predators that could have killed him. When I interrupted her to say that I know what the risks are, she then asked "then why did you let him outside"? I don't believe animals should be completely caged, and as I went to respond to her she HUNG UP ON ME. Horribly unprofessional, inconsiderate and plain rude.

Cheryl and Leanna are very passionate about finding the right fit for their rescue dogs and their knowledge of canine nutrition and behavior is impressive. We are happy with the experience we had with Rompin Paws and delighted with our new buddy! These people are doing amazing work.

I would never recommend this “rescue” to anyone, adopting or searching for any advice. I had reached out to this “rescue” hoping for advice or resources to find my old dog a new home (she is a special case, I had to rehome her a year ago due to my fiancé’s dog being special needs and them not getting along in a small apartment, so I wanted to give her a better life even if that meant my heart breaking. We tried to make it work but she wasn’t happy and I wouldn’t accept that). She was at risk of being euthanized by her other family family (they couldn’t keep her any longer), so even though I don’t have the long term space and have to accommodate my other animals as she is animal reactive, of course I picked her up in an attempt to find her a new home. I am doing everything in my power to give her the best life possible and upon reaching out to ask for proper resources, I was bombarded with HORRIBLE messages saying that I was “dumping my dog” and that I should be put down. Upon asking them not to message me and blocking their organization on Facebook, the owner Cheryl messaged me on her personal account harassing me. I have reported to animal control as I don’t trust her care of these animals, and also BBB as I don’t think anyone deserves to be met with such horrible remarks if they are trying to give a dog another chance. Upon reading other reviews as I work in the veterinary field, the advice that they are giving potentially new dog owners is dangerously wrong and against widely known veterinary medical advice. This “rescue” is dangerous, please save yourself and the animals the trauma and misdirection and look elsewhere.

I felt attacked. I reached out because i have been looking for an ESA. I was on petfinder and showed interest in one of the dogs. The response was rude immediately. All caps.. Not cool.

I didn’t have the chance to talk in person with the staff but this lady Cheryl act incredibly RUDE through email with me just because I didn’t provide information about my dog in the email, I was just looking for information about surrending dogs, and I talked to her really nice and her last email was saying to me “that’s BS” I mean, if I was thinking on taking my dog there, now I definitely NOT! Really bad experience

This is a nice little place to try out and adopt a pet. The only drawback is that you don't get to visit the dogs here to see if you can build that first connection.

I adopted an elder chihuahua named Romeo. It was last year, right before the pandemic. He fit right in with our family, a cat and a chocolate lab. He’s funny because he wants to do everything our lab will do. He howls when he barks and it’s so cute. I think we’re a lucky family for being able to adopt him from Cheryl.

Stay away from this rescue! The owner, Cheryl, is the most unprofessional, extremely rude person I have ever met in my life. She yelled at us, accused us of killing this foster dog, and cussed us out. Work on your communication skills. Show some respect to people and they will show it right back.Just look at how she responds to these reviews. She is extremely childish, is extremely defensive and cannot take criticism at all. Save yourself the trauma and avoid this rescue!

We just adopted a beautiful little Chihuahua this last weekend. Everyone was so helpful and we learned so much from the staff. I highly recommend these wonderful people and the great work they do. We will never go anywhere else and we are telling all our friends about them. Thank you all for the wonderful gift you have blessed us with.

We adopted Sage from Rompin' Paws four years ago, and it has been an absolutely perfect placement. When we met her, we knew just how well she had been cared for before she came to us. Cheryl is an outstanding advocate for the pups at Rompin' Paws, and has an AMAZING network of fosters. Cheryl stresses responsible ownership: frequent vet care, preventative care through a healthy diet and exercise, and training. We still correspond with Cheryl regularly; she really knows her stuff, and is a great resource for adopters even years down the road! The adoption application is long and thorough, expectations and requirements for care are high. Please keep in mind you are applying to adopt a dog that has already found themselves in the shelter/rescue system; the long application and specific requirements are designed to make sure YOU are the BEST place for them to be, and to PREVENT these animals from being surrendered, neglected, and/or put in harms way. Cheryl is a tough cookie and will tell you exactly what she thinks, and will identify areas that she thinks you can improve on. Are you willing to be told that you might not be suited for a specific pet? Are you willing to understand that maybe you can do better as a pet owner? This isn't about you - it's about the dogs. A million [and more] thanks to Rompin' Paws and to Cheryl for being such a blessing to the canine community.

Found our adorable non shedding dog here. The lady running the rescue puts a lot of care and effort into the food and nutrition of the dogs. Make sure to ask a lot of questions about the dog’s history. They get a lot of animals in!

Would give it negative stars if I could she swore at my daugther when we asked for resources to fix an outside mama kitty that is mostly feral and find shelter for her kittens. This lady should not be allowed to run her office or talk with soon to be pet parents. Read all the reviews on Google and yelp before going to her. She refused well suitable homes for these animal which in my eye is a form of abuse in itself. These animal should be taken from her care and she should be shut down so they have a better chance with someone who can love them. I pray you humble your heart and MOUTH to the next potential pet parent. Oh to speak to some of these people who have to give up and surrender their babies. They are reaching out to you in need of help not for judgement cuz one is ill and or lost there jobs in this sudden time of crisis they call on you... and animal rescue shelter to help and provide kindness and love and understanding to them and their animal. I am shocked and baffled at the amount t of reviews and responses. In no way would I EVER swear at a potential parent or client

First off, my sister emailed the owner about what to do with a OUTSIDE cat that has spent most of her life outside who is pregnant and they cannot take care of 8 kittens all at once, they didn't even own her at first to begin with. The cat chooses to stay outside and thats whats most comfortable for the cat. When she received an email for the kittens, the owner cussed at a child and their mother calling them animals abusers. Who is the true animal abuser is the owner herself, she makes assumptions that are clearly false. The owner also hold animals from living a good life when the person looking to rescue has previous animals that died from natural causes or had to be given up with no choice. This type of behavior should be reported to animal cruelty workers. She should no longer have the right to own animals or look after them if she cannot do her job right and hold animals from having a wonderful life and keeping them secluded. This is unexceptionable and the owner should not hold any rights to animals.

My fiance & I were looking for a rescue dog for a companion to our 1 yr old Pomeranian Ollie who loves other dogs and wanted someone to play with! We'd been looking into a second dog for awhile, and thought we found the perfect rescue dog! Unfortunately, the owner disqualified us and sent an aggressive email back based on the fact that we crate our dog at night while we sleep and so because of that the owner said that was "cruelty" and "it's treating the dog like a guinea pig". But otherwise our dog runs free through the whole rest of the day and isn't crated since we both work from home so we can play and be with our dog through the entire rest of the day. And apparently we don't have locks on our gate, which actually isn't true! We do, I just forgot to change my answer on the questionnaire which was my bad. But the owner made some aggressive assumptions, and because of that 1 answer about crating, we were disqualified as an adopter. Also I called this rescue twice, and she hung up on me while I was in the middle of talking.

3 years ago, Rompin Paws gave us the greatest gift we could ask for- Two new family members, a bonded pair of pups that we call our girls. It is 3 years later and our rescue pups are thriving. Cheryl is a pro, even though she is rough around the edges at times, every dog in her care gets the best care. Please keep that in mind when you see 1 star reviews. The animals come first and they always will. Consider donating to Rompin Paws and please consider adopting. I recommend fully.

I am an experienced dog owner and have rescued twice before. I lost my beloved pets, one to cancer and one to a heart issue he had when I rescued him. They were 12 and 14. I applied to adopt one of their dogs and as a nearly retired, financially stable single person, I have a lot to offer a rescue and the money to support senior ailing pets. I not only was turned down but was berated in an email from Cheryl telling me I was the reason my pets DIED! This hit me to the core because I know it’s not true and know the quality of life my pets had. They were loved and well cared for! Teeth cleaned, vet visits, walks, cuddles and lots of love. All of this because I fed them a premium and expensive dry food most of the time. Btw a vet told me to feed them hard food and which kind to Shame on this organization. Alone for the holidays and grieving over my lost pet, to be treated like this by someone who doesn’t know me, beyond unprofessional. Turn me down for a pet is one thing, telling me it’s my fault my sweet pet died, cruel!

Rompin Paws Rescue is all about the dogs and really took time to find the right dog for me. They also educate adopters on dog nutrition. I received a wealth of information to better care for my dog.

I sent an email asking questions about surrending a dog. I received back a very nasty email, telling me how bad of a dog owner I was. She assumed thing that were not true. Than she went as so far as to get onto my Facebook page a make a comment on a memory of my deceased mother and her grandchildren about how one of them could walk the dog. She went way to far.

The lady will be nice if you are taking a rescue but not if you have a rescue to give. No customer service skills at all whatsoever. I'd come close to saying a people hater even.
