My husband and I recently moved to the area. I chose this vet to be my new doctors for my 2 dogs. My previous vet was awesome and forwarded my pet's records to them as soon as I asked. Silver Spring Animal Hospital made it impossible for my dogs to be boarded because when they were asked by the boarding kennel to email my dog's vaccination records to them, they claimed they had no idea who I was and had no record of my pets. I needed to attend my mother's funeral out of state and had to beg a friend last minute to care for my animals. Then when I went to my dog's first appointment they told me I had called and canceled the appointment and refused to see my dogs. When I said I hadn't they argued with me that "YES I had and I couldn't be seen." They are completely incompetent and unreliable. They are unprofessional and refuse to accept ownership for their own mistakes and completely unaccomadating for such occurrences.

Nothing against the actual vets at this practice, I think they're wonderful and have for the past 5+ years we've been going here. The front desk staff however, is atrocious. Talk about negative energy. Every single time I've called, they answer the phone in negative tones and continue to speak in a clipped, dismissive and impatient voice throughout the call The phone calls are on average two minutes or less. I get it, you're busy - we all are. Please do a better job of speaking politely to your clients on the phone - you are the front line face of this Animal Hospital. Do better. If you're not happy, then leave.

I am a cat behavior consultant and quite frankly a helicopter mom. Never in my life have I found a veterinary office where the vet techs and veterinarian met my standards for compassionate care. That is until I went to Dr. Krishna. The vet tech who carried my cat carrier in held it correctly (one hand on the handle, one hand underneath in case it breaks or comes loose). Dr. Krishna and her team treated my senior cat with TLC that I have never witnessed in a veterinarian before. She included me in his exam to keep him calm. She spoke to him with the softest voice, practically singing to him. She explained everything to me as a valued patient, never talking down to me. My experience was worth every penny!

They take great care of my canine companion! The doctors are always very helpful and even my slightly anxious dog always does well! I also appreciate the clear billing.

Great docs AND staff---from the receptionist to the vet techs and other support staff. These folks "get" animals.

Really great experience here! The doctor and staff were efficient, timely, and helpful. The doctor made sure to answer all my questions thoroughly and explain my options for care of my newly adopted cat. The parking lot looks like it can get a bit crowded, but the standard of care provided here makes the minor inconvenience worth it.

My fiancé & I are first-time dog owners. After adopting a senior dog with a myriad of health “surprises”, Silver Spring Animal Hospital has been an incredible resource to us, providing insight from our first advice call, to setting up our pet as one of their patients. The attendants and doctors have all been friendly, and Dr. Krishna made room to see my dog on a busy day, after I called in the morning with concerns of joint pain. It feels like they genuinely care for your pet’s well-being, and their prices don’t feel hiked up like many other animal hospitals. My dog Hina & I give them two thumbs (or paws) up! :)

I recently lost my buddy Allie at 13 1/2 years of age. As one might expect, her health began to decline in recent years. For the past 2 years, Allie was a patient at Silver Spring Animal Hospital. Dr. Barnes was wonderful with Allie and very thorough with his examinations, in detailing symptoms and providing appropriate care. In fact, Dr. Barnes would call 1-2 days after each visit to check in on Allie. That was something I'd never experienced before. When it was evident that Allie's time had come, Silver Spring Animal Hospital was wonderful. The entire staff was extremely supportive and compassionate. When the time comes to bring another dog into the family, I plan to go back to Silver Spring Animal Hospital.

As usual, my cat's visit with Dr. Krishna at Silver Spring Animal Hospital was detailed and worthwhile. Dr. K diagnosed a kidney infection and prescribed medicine and special food. She detected a heart murmur and recommended a specialist. When the urinalysis results were in, she prescribed medicine for the urinary tract infection they showed. So the kitty stays with me a while longer.

Our first experience her with Dr. Krishna was amazing- she was very thorough and we were taken in at our scheduled time. The following interactions, with some of the staff and other doctors, were not so pleasant. We tried to pick up some medication for one of our dogs, not only was it not ready, they had no record of the doctor prescribing it. Not a big deal, accidents happen, but we came back another day and it was still not ready. Another time we brought our dog in who was under the weather. After a very brief exam Dr. Barnes gave him some meds that in my untrained mind seemed to treat unrelated symptoms. I asked specifically if his illness was contagious and they said no. What do you know, the next day our other dogs are also sick. I call the office, Dr. Barnes is not there and I get no offer for a call back from him or the other vet on staff until Monday. Monday comes, never received a message. Try to put those experiences behind me, bring other dog in for a follow up. Roll up, call, give my name and say I've arrived for our appointment at the specified time. Forty minutes later no one has come out to get my dog. I call back to see what the hold up is, they say my appointment is not until an hour later than I specified on the phone (a time I would not have agreed to because I have to be back at work) but would have been nice if someone told me that when I called in initially. Finally get to talk to the Dr. Laden (not the doctor who initially recommended the follow up, which I think is an oversight) and I am understandably confused and allude to my concern, I don't get the friendliest response. Final straw, they ask for my credit card and I ask for the total. The tech says they will let me know before they run it. Ten minutes later another tech comes out with my receipt. I tell them someone was supposed to notify me. She tells me the total once the receipt is already in my hand. I have eyes, thanks... Love Dr. Krishna, everyone else is not up to the same standard.

Techs and vets always attentive. After your furry friend is taken care of the vet will call you to give more info and answer any questions. Understand, humans stay out of the office for now and must wait for their furry companion in the parking lot.

They were very concerned with my dog's comfort, which I really appreciated, as she gets so anxious at the vet. The vet took his time, gave her lots of treats and stopped when she indicated she was done. Glad to have found this new vet.

Leaving this place with our brand new 9 week old puppy felt like we just had a religious experience. We had taken our pup to another vet but were deeply troubled by their bedside manner. And I don't say that as some feel-good so-and-so, but they were rough with our dog and gave us so little information about the questions we had, and what info they did give, on training specifically, seemed terribly outdated. So we tried SSAH and met Dr. Krishna. And, wow. She's amazing. Stern with the owners, tells you exactly what you need to hear, explains everything she's going to do to your dog before she does it. Probably my favorite thing about her is that she makes it very clear, as an owner, what she expects from you in care-taking for you pup. Then she takes your dog's temperature rectally and your dog doesn't even notice... Downside, they're expensive. And not like a few bucks more than other vets. Like, premier pet care expensive. But honestly, you see them 4-5 times as a pup in the first year and a half, then get insurance and never pay out of pocket after for emergencies. You will love your time there.

Been going here for 10+ years and I've always had a positive experience. Even after I moved 20 mins a way we always make the drive back. Good vets are worth holding on to.
