Great! Friendly staff that really tries to makes your Animals comfortable! They have a live in cat. She jumped up on the desk and wanted me to pet her.I think she is the cat that helps the other overnight animals that are there, but that's just my opinion. Great place I fell good taking my cat too.

Dr.Bates and staff were very caring for my sweet Kitty. I had been putting off his checkup because he growls and is very nasty at vet appts. But Dr.Bates didn’t seem to mind. Said kitty was in good health but needs to lose 5 lbs.

Doctor and personnel were excellent

Baines is attentive but the price is steep for care you can receive at a fraction of the price. A quick check up cost me more that initial care with shots at my regular vet. They didn't have any available appointments at my vet and I was concern so tried Abington, wrong choice for $450 no real issues.

Expensive and outdated. Front desk staff gets a 5 but the billing ensures the price will be through the roof every visit. Do your homework and if you do you'll go elsewhere.

The Doctor is very personable and thorough but VERY EXPENSIVE!

Excellent service, friendly, accomodating. Other places spend their time telling you everything they can't do, not this place. They go out of their way to get you what you want and need for your animal at an affordable price. Best kept secret for vet service in Hayes, VA.

Our dog had a same day appointment, not acting right all day and her ear was bothering her. I was thinking a ear infection.. I wasn't allowed back to the room and waited in the waiting room for 15 minutes. 15 mins later and I have a $329.09 bill for treatment w/zero prior warning or explanation of cost! He did a culture of her ears for bacteria/yeast and cleaned them out (which I wasn't made aware of but would have consented to if they had asked).. but I never authorized or was told about ear mite test, two injections) but I feel completely taken advantage of they only saw dollar signs! Although Dr. Bates and staff was nice; costs should be explained up front before anything is done and authorization is given by the owner of the animal.

I will re-emphasize the well-written previous review based on my experience today. The prior review was spot on: "Expensive and outdated. Front desk staff gets a 5 but the billing ensures the price will be through the roof every visit. Do your homework and if you do you'll go elsewhere."

They have been my pets health care givers since 2005. Staff is very friendly and caring. My dogs always happy when we go there.

I really like the doctor here but his hours are very limited due to the fact that he goes to Williamsburg and only has appointments at this clinic from around 2 to 4 pm.

My puppy had slight diarrhea (no worms or anything of note according to the Dr.). 30 minutes later and I have a $425 bill for treatment w/ zero prior warning/explanation of cost!I had them remove everything I possibly could from my bill to get it down to $275 and left, furious. $425 for a slight of case diarrhea! Will not be going back again and I suggest you don’t either. Feel completely taken advantage of, like they only saw dollar signs.

We drive from Williamsburg just do Dr Bates and the amazing staff can take care of our puppies. He also had a location in Williamsburg, but the Abingdon clinic offered a free first visit when we adopted our pups at the Gloucester Humane Society, and we have been very pleased with them.

Dr. Bates and his staff are both kind and knowledgeable. As a new customer, I immediately felt comfortable and trusted their expertise and assistance with a very sick cat. They remained in touch by phone and were thorough with explanations. I feel very fortunate to have found them!

Very nice reception service. The Veterinary assistants truly care and are compassionate with all the animals I saw come and gowhile I was there. I was impressed with their professionalism and compassion. However, the estimate the veterinarian gave to care for my dog was over $2,000. I checked around and had the same procedure done, and had her spayed for $600, at a Veterinarian near West Point. My dog had her surgery and has already recovered and is back to normal. 5 stars for the other Veterinary Hospital.

Dr Bates , Jen, and Staff are the most kindhearted, professionals that one could ask for from their Vetrinarian. They have overseen the welfare of both our dog Tuck and cat Tigerlily flawlessly for years. During our time of crisis, they not only cared for our cat, but for us like family. If one is looking for great Veterinary care, look no further than Abingdon Animal Clinic. They are a top notch medical facility, with the most personal staff anyone could ask for.

Dr. Bates is so caring and knowledgeable! The staff are friendly, helpful and all are absolutely wonderful to work with. They have helped me through the passing of a pet, a medical emergency and routine care. I'm thankful to have a vet clinic that loves animals as they do.

We chose Abingdon Animal Clinic because of a friend's glowing recommendation and we have been so pleased. The staff is caring and thoughtful and very quick. Our dog loves everyone there. Dr. Bates explains everything clearly and patiently. It's a wonderful place.

Dr. Bates and his assistants are WONDERFUL. They treat your pet as if it were their own and handle them lovingly with much compassion and kindness. Dr. Bates has a wonderful personality and is extremely friendly. He explains things thoroughly when your pet is in need of special care.
