Dr Castro and his staff were amazing assisting me in obtaining the necessary paperwork to take my dog on a trip to Europe with me. I had a very short window to work with and needed a USDA certified vet to complete the necessary documents. They accommodated me in the time frame required, were super helpful and friendly, and most importantly, knowledgeable with the slightly complicated process. I just returned from my trip and everything went seamlessly allowing my pup to come with me. I will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

The Vet tech working the front desk is lovely. The Veterinarian is just ok. I had specifically requested a 1 year rabies vaccine but when I looked at the records I saw they gave my cat the 3 year. I am not happy about that. Unfortunately, I was unable to be present for the actual vaccine administration because of covid or else I would have stopped it.

I have used Tango in the past and was satisfied for the care they provided. My initial encounter established trust with Dr. Castro. Which is why I decided to come back. Background story: I adopted my cat last yr from shelter. The previous owners did not care for her health. My cat is overweight & exhibited signs of diabetes. I wanted to provide her with the care she deserves. On their website, they offer “cat-wellness package.” The platinum membership would be a great investment for my cat’s health. My next appointment, I brought list of questions that I had. I told the girl up front that I am interested in purchasing the wellness plan for my cat. She mentioned, Dr. Castro needs to authorize for approval. Also, Tango doesn’t allow the owners participate during the vet visit. Due to company policy for “covid.” I want to be involved with my cat’s health. I would like to know what goes on during these “exams.” I don’t understand how people can blindly give their animals away without knowing what goes on. Anyways, the nurse answered majority of my questions. She showed me my bill would be $300 for today’s visit which included blood work, shots, etc. I told her that I am interested in the wellness package. It’s a good deal. It’s $522/year. She said, that she will speak to the doctor since he has to approve. THEN Dr. Castro comes. He told me my cat gained weight, she’s at risk for diabetes. Her bladder isn’t full, so a urine test couldn’t be completed. Overall, her health is good. “I will not approve the wellness package.” He was trying so hard to convince me that insurance is a better option. If she’s sick with diabetes she will need more than one CBC per year. “If” she sick this, if she’s sick that. He basically insinuating his wellness plan will not be beneficial. His justification was he was saving me from paying a monthly fee. I told him wellness package would be better, because I would pay much more during each encounter with insurance. At this point, he was frustrated with me and I knew this man did not care for my cat. He wanted money. I mean it makes sense. If you go on the website the wellness package offers 20 different types of services. Some have a quantity of 2. Includes unlimited exams & consultations for annual fee of $522. Breaks down to $40 ish dollars a month. NO DEDUCTIBLE. No submitting to insurance. No annual limit. I would rather pay her medication out of pocket than the insurance route. If I went to the insurance route. I pay a monthly fee. On top of that pay the vet fee then I would have to submit to insurance for reimbursement. My annual out of pocket limit would be $2-5k depending on what plan I choose. ALSO, a DEDUCTIBLE. Dr. Castro –you tried so hard to convince me that was a better option for my cats health. No sir, this was a better option for your pocket. I understand, If I purchased that wellness plan and lets say if my cat did have diabetes. It wouldn’t be cost effective for you. How would you make money off of that? If I kept coming to your facility on an unlimited basis. In the end, in order to get my cat back from Dr. Castro. I had to pay a $60.00 exam/consult visit which included $30 rabies shot & biohazard fee. I couldn’t believe that he tried holding my cat hostage. I knew I could have just called the police, but I didnt have the energy to fight with a cheap man. I was FORCED to pay and FORCED to give my cat her rabies shot just to get her back. I understand when it comes to rabies. Sure, Ill pay, but charge me for a visit that you DIDN’T EVEN COMPLETE OR DO. Like what kind of scam is this? Anyways, I will fight this charge against my credit card company. I will not allow this unethical doctor to scam me. Not even one question answered on my list either. *The saddest part of it all was I wanted to give my services to a local vet. Not the franchised vet office everyone goes to AKA Banfield, but looks like that’s my only option. My advice to Dr. Castro. How about remove the wellness package option from your site if you do not want your customers to use it. Bad vet.

They are super caring and they call to check up on your sick babies all the time which as a new dog owner was so helpful and overwhelming. I adore them and I would keep on bringing my dog here if it wasn't so far away. So it's bandsfield for us but I truly adore Tango Hospital and their staff. ????????❤????????????????

Poor customer service. Teeth cleaning was fine, but the problem… I was quoted a price before the service and charged more than quoted. Specifically, I called Tango and spoke with Kim, the manager. I asked if Tango would provide the Groupon teeth cleaning package, which included a nail trim, for the Groupon price even though I lived outside of the 20 mile radius (fine print requirement). Kim said no, but would do so for $350. Well tango did not honor the price and charge me extra for nail trim. When I addressed this matter with Kim, her response was well “it’s clear to me”. In other words, you paid for it when you dropped off your pet, and it’s your mistake for misunderstanding me during our phone conversation. This was a horrible response. I think initially, it it would have been perfectly ok if Kim would have said …”We will not do the nail trim”, but she didn't. Instead she said ..."We'll do it... and followed with poor customer service. I could have lied about far I lived, which would have saved me over $170.00, but I then I thought... hmmm, honesty. Moreover, the foundation of a business is based on honesty and integrity. May be Tango forgot on this day. Oh, I forgot to mention, before I leaving Kim said I will discount you $1.59. What the Fudge!? $159?

EVEN IF YOU HAVE FREE FIRST VISIT FROM FANCY CATS AND DOGS, AVOID!!! I had the worst experience at this "hospital". I took my newly adopted cat (who was a stray before finding herself at a cat cafe) here at the recommendation of Mount Purrnon Cat Cafe and Fancy Cats Rescue. The doctor did not address my concerns over her coughing and sneezing… he said it was simply cold or allergies. Now that I’ve taken her to my family’s vet who has treated our dogs for years (located 50 minutes away), I’ve learned a cough is extremely rare in cats and can be indicative of lung worm. The “doctor” dismissed my concern and told me I was being silly to worry about it… he said “it’s very, very common”. The second issue I wanted addressed was her serious and visable ear infection. He flushed her ears out and told me she had a double-ear infection... any one with eyes could have seen that. He didn’t say what kind of infection, even after I asked. When I saw through the window, my poor baby cat was being held down on a cold metal table with no care… she was clearly miserable while they poked and prodded her without any semblance of affection. After her awful ordeal, when they brought her out shaken and frazzled, they wanted to “show me how to trim her nails” (and try to charge me for it) and the tech held the scruff of her neck and pinned her down again to the cold table… not caring about the trauma she had just faced or offering her any time to relax, or even so much as a blanket to rest on. I also noticed they didn’t sterilize the table that was used as a CHECKOUT COUNTER for their store… needless to say I didn’t let them go through with the trimming. They advertised a "free” first visit with your Fancy Cats adoption… this couldn’t be further from the truth. I was charged $200 with ridiculous, needless fees such as a “fecal collection set up fee” and a “waste disposal fee”. My current vet said the fecal collection was completely unnecessary and to just bring in the needed stool sample myself. The medicine that was purchased for her ear infection was $45 for a teeny tube… after returning to MY vet after a the worsening of the infection, she charged me $10 for the same bottle. This place is after money and money alone. They don’t seem to have a lot of care for the animals and I truly don’t think Juan Castro knows what he’s doing.

If you're looking for a good quality vet who cares about your animal and its health, I would NOT bring them to Tango Animal Hospital. It is evident that Dr. Castro is not concerned WHATSOEVER for the overall well-being of your animal. I took my cat into Tango this past Friday, under an emergency visit, due to a lack of appetite, throwing up, and overall being very lethargic. I had dropped her off for Dr. Castro to look at in-between his other appointments. When he contacted me a few hours later, he told me that other than her obvious symptoms, there appeared to be nothing wrong with her. He suggested taking a more conservative approach in giving her fluids and anti-nausea pills to see if this helped her situation, but told me that if we did not see improvements, bloodwork would be the next step. I did as he suggested and took her home, giving her the anti-nausea pills he prescribed. The next day I got a call from Tango checking up on Sage to see how she was doing. When I told them that she still wasn't eating and seemed pretty lethargic, they said that it takes about 24 to 48 hours for the medication to work and to start seeing improvements. Instead, her health started deteriorating even more. Monday morning I called AS SOON as they opened at 9am, hoping to at least talk to Dr. Castro. Instead I was told that he was preparing for surgery and could not talk. I explained the situation and asked if he could at least tell me what I should do, whether it was to drop her off again or take her to another animal hospital. I was told that they would try, but he would definitely call me back around 1pm. At 1:30pm with still no word from Dr. Castro, or any of his staff, I called the office. I was told that Dr. Castro had went out for lunch... I said it was an emergency situation and asked if there was anyone else I could talk to. The lady on the phone told me that she would get someone on the phone that could possibly answer my questions. After waiting several minutes in silence, she told me everyone was busy, but they would call me back in a few minutes. It was then that I decided to call another animal hospital. It was at 7:08pm, after closing hours, when I FINALLY received a call back from Dr. Catsro. He said he was now just getting around to calling patients back and seemed very nonchalant when asking about Sage. I told him I decided to take her somewhere else, and all he had to say was, "Let me know if you have any questions." He then proceeded to hang up the phone. The other vet was VERY concerned upon looking at my cat and doing a quick physical exam. Turns out that my cat has SEVERE pancreatitis and I was told that they were unsure if my cat would survive. She has been in the ICU for the past almost 48 hours battling this combined with severe dehydration, depression, and a stomach full of fluids that should not be there. PLEASE TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO SOMEONE WHO LOVES, CARES, AND KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I promise you that Dr. Castro does not and if I could rate him below one star I would. Take your animal to another vet like SouthPaws or Kingsview Animal Hospital, who will do everything in their power to help them.

Great customerservice. I called during a weekend, didn't leave a message, and they still called me back to check if I needed anything.

Been coming here a few years now. Prices are better than the neighboring vet. Easy in and out at this location. They are good about calling to confirm your appointment. They have given me discounts on some items without having to ask especially when I am paying for several services for my dog. They want me to buy medications from them but it's far cheaper online. I would like to give them the business but the difference is just too great. The vet is very nice and took photos of things to show me dental problems.

The doctor was awesome. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. Only thing I noted is I didn't see the disinfecting of the chairs after people left and the door. But the receptionist was busy. Other than that, I will be returning.

Place only wants your money. Tried to oversell me on expensive dog food and other unecesarry tests. Recently, I wanted to buy more heartgard and they wouldn't give it to me without doing a whole other heartworm test again even though he's been on it for the past year from them.

I am so grateful that I was able to take my fur baby in today to get checked for tix, luckily it turned out to be a scab but I didn’t want to take any risks and Kim was sweet enough to let me come in even though they were getting ready to close! Goldie says thank you :)

It is the worst store I have ever met. They do over sale. And using tricky Groupon deal to trap customers. Avoid them.

Tango Animal hospital and grooming did an amazing job grooming and healing my anxious dog. We used a groupon for our first visit and will definitely be returning.

I am appalled by this business. I am also a small business owner and I was just shocked by their customer service/regulations. First I live in the DMV Area, Silver Spring and this place is located in Fairfax. I have no problem driving there since I drive to the Fairfax area for work and I also own a home in Arlington. The lady said she couldn’t take my Groupon voucher because I live outside the mile radius and I’m like what?! I have never heard such a thing. It’s about a 35-40 minute drive. Her excuse was that they only wanted local customers. I then told her that I would be, if I like my first experience. That’s the great thing about Groupon, you can try it out and then determine if you like it. I have paid $180 in grooming services so spending for grooming services is not the problem! She said okay we can make an appointment but you can’t use the Groupon voucher, you would have to pay normal price. Now how does that make sense? I was willing to pay normal price afterwards after the special, I mean why even have a Groupon? This is disgraceful business!

Dr. Castro and his team are wonderful at caring for your pets. Both my DSH and my Turkish Van cat cane for teeth cleanings and some extractions and we were very pleased with their treatment and care! Highly recommended!
