Highly recommend this practice for pet parents like me who struggle finding good care for their reactive/fearful pets. I have a reactive dog with anxiety & fear aggression, particularly in relation to handling & vet visits. We spent a year going to a good, traditional vet practice, that gave good, professional care, but was not equipped or trained in how to handle tough cases like my rescue pup. This resulted in more trauma, as the team resorted to pinning the dog down under a blanket to administer treatments, & the dog became more fearful & more anxious over the visits. If you have a special case like mine, then you unfortunately may have had to work really hard to find a good team of caregivers that are willing to take the time to love & understand your pet. After a recommendation from the Animal Behavior Wellness Center, I found that here at the Fairfax Veterinary Hospital. We now go an extra 20-30 minutes to visit this practice, because our first two visits proved the time investment was worth it. This "Fear Free" practice lives up to the title. My reactive dog has no concerns, & runs right in. We appreciated the calm atmosphere, the dog exam room filled with soothing music, soft blankets & bed, & toys to play with. They also allowed me to stay in the room for the exams, & I brought our own mat. Dr. Ranivand & Eva are calm, sweet, gentle, & slow. They worked at my dog's pace, sitting on the floor for nearly an hour each visit, providing warm words, lots of treats, & letting the dog approach them when he was ready. They did not rush the exam, and left lots of time for my dog to just enjoy the space & get used to it, & them. The practice fit us in quickly after my initial request, & the follow-up was easy to schedule. We never felt rushed, we were always treated kindly, & they are incredibly diligent with follow-ups. If they don't hear back, they will message you through their app & give you a call. Also, getting special care for my dog can be expensive, but I was pleasantly surprised here. I got much better value for nearly the same price as my last vet. The initial exam was about $3 more expensive, but then the follow-up was about $3 less. So really, it cost about the same, but the experience was worlds apart. The only thing I'd like to discuss in future is more affordable generic drug options, as that's where the real costs lie. Anyway, the pictures say it all, that is one happy & comfortable pup, giving this practice 4 Paws Up.

We’re major cat parents and this clinic is OUTSTANDING. The Cat room is so peaceful and they take great care to allow our cats to relax while they’re being seen. All the staff were gentle and very helpful. We’re super happy with Fairfax Veterinary Hospital

Dr. Valentine and her staff, were and are great, professional and informative. Thank you so much for the care and attention you gave my baby boy. ????????❤????????????

Was told that dental is going to cost 600, when they finished I had to pay 1400. Nice communication there, won't ever come back again.

Everyone working at this practice is truly amazing!!! They really care and are very compassionate. My dog hates even walking into a vet’s office. After visiting once, he happily went back in the next day when he needed additional treatment. Hands down the best vet hospital I visited in the past 5 years. Thank you!!!

I recently started taking my dog to Fairfax Veterinary Hospital and they have been incredible at working with him. He has issues with general anxiety and their staff is extremely well equipped to deal with dogs like him with their fear free approach. I highly recommend taking your animal here!

After not feeling listened to by our previous vet, we decided to take our pup here for a second opinion. We have a very anxious dog, who also has confinement anxiety and doesn't love small rooms. Everyone who works here has been so accommodating and understanding and gentle with her. We ended up having a dental cleaning done, and a tooth extracted. Everything was very clear upfront in terms of what to expect, and day of went smoothly. Our poor baby struggled a bit more than normal with her recovery. When the team called to check in on her, I alerted them to some of the issues we were having. Within 30 minutes we were seen back in the office by Dr. Goselin. I so appreciate them squeezing us in for an emergency situation, and not charging exorbitant fees for it either. It was dam near impossible to get a sick visit with our old vet within a day or two. Dr. Goselin was more concerned with our dogs health than anything else and spent a lot of time making sure she was okay. After some fluids, an anti nausea injection, and appetite stimulant, we've already seen a positive improvement with our baby. I know so many vets offices are overbooked these days, and appreciate the time the team spends to make sure everything is okay and to answer all our questions. I feel like I can finally really trust our vet, which is such a huge relief.

We got a new “covid” puppy in August 2020 and selected Fairfax Vet after much research. I’ve been so pleased with the practice. We started out with Dr. Gosline and after a recent issue had to see Dr Ranivand. I was skeptical and worried but I can tell you there was ZERO reason. Both doctors are superb and so caring. They are now part of our family since they love Lexi as much as I do.

We recently adopted a cat, and I wanted to take her to the vet to get an exam to make sure everything was looking okay. After searching around and calling a couple places, I decided this would be my best option. Boy, was that the right choice. When I first called them, the lady I had the pleasure of speaking to on the phone was informative, professional, and so kind. They promptly sent me all emails I needed and made sure that I knew what to expect when I came. I was very nervous since I couldn't come inside with my cat for the appointment due to COVID. The way the tech interacted with me when she came to my car to get my cat reassured me that my cat was in caring, loving hands. The exam went pretty quick (about 10 minutes or so since she's in good health and wasn't getting vaccines) and the doctor called me to inform me how it went. She told me everything I needed to know and really put me at ease. Payment was easy as well. I cannot express how overjoyed I am with how everything went, and with how awesome the staff was. I am so grateful for their help. They sent me pictures of my cat, Chiku, too from her appointment! This made me feel more comfortable since I couldn't be in the room with Chiku.

The vet took the time to answer all my questions and report the health status of both of my pups. I didn’t feel rushed at all and they even called to follow up on the status of their ears after medicine. Great experience!

Just took my 4 1/2 months old puppy Mando to the Vet for a possible eye infection and they did a tremendous job. The doctor was patient and answered all my questions and concerns. The technicians and the front desk people were very friendly. They mention Fear-Free in their website it really is true as my puppy Mando loved his visit and actually wanted to go back in when he came out of the vet. I highly recommend all dog parents to bring their furry buddies here.

Today was our first visit to Fairfax Veterinary Hospital and I was very pleased with our visit! After noticing our dog, Cooper, was having mouth pain Thursday night, I searched online to find a vet that performed dental work and found a few options. After reading many positive reviews, I called FVH on Friday and was relieved that they were able to set up a visit for Monday. From my initial call, check-in, a call from the vet during the exam, and then a check-out call, everyone I spoke with was friendly, patient, professional and caring. They explained their findings and next steps very clearly and thoroughly, prescribed and provided medicine to address his pain, and answered all of my questions. I was nervous about Cooper needing dental work but, after today's visit, I'm very thankful for finding FVH!

I love this vet! Our Pomeranian has a good experience every time. They put in the extra efforts to put a bandana with calming pheromones each time, and give her treats during the visit. She was recently spayed here and they did a good job and the stitches are healing well!

Words can’t express how grateful I am to have found such an amazing vet and staff to care for my fur babies. Dr. Ranivand is meticulous and always tries to address my questions/concerns. Every time my fur babies come here for tooth extractions, the staff is ALWAYS AMAZING with them. My little guy is a tad timid around strangers, so I’m very at ease to know he’s being treated with patience and care even when I can’t be in the office with him. I will always come back to this practice for my pups dental needs/surgery because of the amazing staff. I trust the staff and Dr. Ranivand will provide the best care possible for my pups, especially during Covid. Cassi always greets them with a smile, and her gentleness definitely calms them. She even sent me photos of him when he was settling in. She’s a guardian angel to both my sons. It’s wonderful to know there are still kind people in the world, who genuinely love animals and caring for them!

Very nice facility! Clean and Bright! Lot's of thoughtful planning and care that went into the concept to make it a fear free veterinary clinic. We enjoyed the tour and being able to see the whole building. We started going here because we love Dr. Ranivand. We love the atmosphere and staff. No long wait to start our visits. Our visits are thorough and not rushed. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Plenty of parking, easy to get in and out. Nice patches of grass in parking lot for dogs to do their business before heading in. Highly Recommend.

We ended up here after our cat got really sick. They were able to fit us in right away and then when it turned out we needed to put our cat down, they were so kind and compassionate on a really rough day. We so appreciated how they handled everything, including a condolence card later. They really showed that they cared about us and our cat. Highly recommend!

They successfully removed my pup's tumor in a way that enabled him for a quick recovery with little to no discomfort to my pup while being a professional and committed staff with followups!!

I love the employees. They are always very helpful and friendly. I was disappointed in the rate for dog nail clipping tho and surprised by his pi ky nails not trimmed when they went into my skin! Yes, I was told to come back and would help with the situation; I work 7 days a week and it's hard going back but I still appreciate the fact of them being nice.

We adopted a puppy for the first time and searched for a Fairfax area vet, reading all of the reviews available and looking for recommendations from others. We decided we’d try out Fairfax Vet Hospital after seeing positive reviews and reading about their “Fear Free” practice. Since our pup is a 5M old rescue, we’re working hard to make sure she feels safe, loved, and anxiety-free after a potentially unstable first few months of life. The folks at Fairfax Vet delivered 100%. Though we weren’t able to accompany our sweet pup inside due to COVID, they met us outside, took the time to let her get comfortable, and talked with us about concerns we had and general feedback. After the exam the Dr called us and took a ton of time answering our questions, giving us recommendations, discussing treatment for a puppy ailment, and answering even more questions we had. Dr Melissa spent more time answering our questions than I get in a human physical! She was kind, reassuring, and so helpful. She obviously cares deeply for the animals she treats, takes a holistic yet realistic approach to caring for their well being, and cares about the human-doggo relationship. She had practical advice for us, yet also a detailed plan to help get our pup’s ailment managed. The staff sent us pictures and videos of Lilly’s first visit and she seemed to be having a ball. There’s toys available, Kong’s, lots of belly rubs, and lots of treats. The staff seemed to adore her and she was so happy when she came out. They also have an app available to upload pet(s) info and picture into, load health history, schedule and get reminders of appts, important health reminders (shots, etc), order meds, and more. EXTREMELY useful in this day and age. All in all, we’re life long fans and can’t wait to tour the space in whole. Our little pup seemed to love her visit and we’re so thankful for their love and attention to her. Highly recommend and looking forward to a long relationship with Fairfax Vet ????

Yes, the vet sent me this photo after I dropped off my dog who usually doesn't like vets. We are so glad to have found this vet, especially after my dog's recent surgery (more below). There are a lot of vet options the area, but I've never felt so taken care of with my concerns as I have here. I have a large, difficult rottweiler. He's lovely, but doesn't like vets normally, and the staff has done a fantastic job working with me to find short and long term solutions, consider budget, and always factor my dog's quality of life as he ages. They have also been extremely flexible, prompt, and my dog loves them! During recent surgery to remove a tumor, we had xrays to confirm if he had arthritis (he does). He was extremely sore with limited mobility after all this. For a 120lb dog that can't walk well, we were concerned, and they were very quick to adjust medication and provide many suggestions while he recovers. We had a solution within the hour and he was significantly better that same day. Dr. Ranivand, and the whole team are wonderful!

I absolutely love this place! As I recently moved to the area from a different country, I wanted to find a veterinary clinic that was up to par with the similar services I was receiving for my pets. This place exceeds all my expectations and is by far better than any clinic I’ve ever brought them to! The staff are so warm and welcoming and you can really tell they have your pets best interest at heart, and they treat your pets like they are theirs. They are so meticulous in their practice and the value is amazing for what they provide. I will always recommend this place and will continue to bring my 3 girls(2 dogs and 1 cat) forever. If you are looking for a clinic, I can promise you that you will not find anything better elsewhere. Thank you so much for your amazing work!!!

We were referred to this clinic since our husky had quite a bit of anxiety going to the vet. We recently rescued our husky several months ago. Our last visit at another vet clinic went horribly wrong as COVID policies did not allow us to go back with him and he had fear aggression. He came back out with a muzzle and he was so frazzled. As with COVID policies, I was unable to go into the appt. Fairfax Vet Hospital took their time with him, fed him treats and was super comforting and he did well and was able to receive a vaccine! Dr. Ranivand called and spoke to me at great length the entire wellness exam, follow-up exams, treatments, and labs. Cassie brought him back out to my car and even had some treats for him! We needed additional labs and vaccines and broke our tech visits down so it wouldn't stress him out. I CANNOT stress enough how comfortable this clinic made us feel! Wholeheartedly recommend them! They are very passionate about animals and it shows!

Great professionals who treated our girl holistically allowing her injured back to heal and return her to being active again. They always follow up and are very responsive, friendly and caring. Highly recommended

The vets here are great. The best vet I have used by far and I think better than all the others in the area. It really is a fear free place as everyone here is very welcoming to us and our dog.

Absolutely hands down, the best veterinarian hospital and caring staff I have seen in 18+ years of having pets. Usually, in the past I had to to bring treats and drag or carry my doxen in because he hates going to see the Vet. So I was prepared to have that exact experience with my baby German Shepherd puppy named Justicia (27 lbs) but I was so pleasantly surprised at her behavior. She waltzed in like she was seeing an old friend. She didn't bark or seem scared at all. Of course it helps that the staff is very welcoming and kind. Justicia would probably like me to mention she likes them because of the treats and belly rubs!!! Great state of the art facility, warm and inviting place with neutral colors and pheromone bandanas to keep your pet calm and relaxed. It really works!
