This use to be a a good place to take your pets but not anymore I the last years it has changed and not for the better the atmosphere has changed the atmosphere has changed the compassion is not there if you are a customer and you have a pet that needs attention you are told we don't have any appointments for at least 2 weeks so you are told to go to another vet or to a emergency vet which is very expensive and most of the time are not familiar with the pet so it delays treatment. I have been a customer with Dr. Brad since he has been in the area because he was so compassionate but not now just because I had ask to talk to the Dr.at his convenience which I was told they could not do that no reason given and because I got upset and hung up the phone they canceled my dogs appointment and was told I wasn't welcome there anymore I have referred many people to him but not anymore one customer I referred took here pets record and left them to be copied were thrown away and was never called to say we need you to pick-up your records or they will be thrown away so I would not recommend this vet to anyone

I can't say enough good things about Dr. DiCarlo, Marthe, and the Willow River staff. They've helped steer me through the illnesses of two elderly cats and I value that they clearly care about the comfort and well being of the pets they see and are forthright with me about conditions and options. Highly recommend.

Their vet and vet techs went above and beyond for my dog. My dog is scared of everything and they were incredibly patient and made us feel so comfortable and confident managing his health and behavioral needs. Highly recommend.

Wonderful and caring crew. Very knowledgeable on a variety of pets, from dogs and cats to reptiles, guinea pigs and other small critters.

My first visit there and they were so friendly and accommodating to my schedule. They truly love animals and did everything they could to make my Kitty feel safe and welcome. They have a easy going low stress vibe and I looking forward to my next vet visit.

Brought my 10 week old puppy to them after puppy had respiratory issues and to finish puppies vaccinations and medications. They gave me antibiotics paid almost $300, made my next appointment for follow up and continue vaccinations. The vet only came in for a couple of minutes so I was left with a tech who was so rude and acted like she knew everything. When I asked if they had looked over the breeder documemts so they didn't over medicate my puppy she was arrogant and said she did but didn't recall any vaccination. To her surprise I brought the paperwork with me and I pointed and said then whats this? She then said she had to talk to the vet and came back and said they would hold off on the vaccinations. I emailed them my puppies paperwork so they could continue my puppies treatment not so they could over medicate my puppy just to make a large profit. The puppies health should be there main priority and sadly in my case it wasn't. Further more I have other animals and now they have to be treated cause they have caught a respiratory illness from my puppy. They never once asked if I had other animals, they never once said that my puppy had anything that was contagious. First visit $260 2nd visit $80 Medication pickup- $117 This is all in 2 weeks time. Call around before making an appointment with this Vet.

I took my rabbit there to get neutered, and they were extremely nice and talked me through everything. They even walked me to the back were the procedure would be done and told me everything that would happen. I would highly recommend coming here if you have any animal but especially rabbits.

Great vet!! Awesome people! They took great care of my old cat when I had to put him down!! Highly recommend!!!

Took my 3.5-month old rescue Pup here today for his third puppy visit and Willow River is now absolutely my vet and I will recommend to everyone I know! They were fantastic. Dr. DiCarlo clearly has such a wonderful working knowledge of animal behavior and the staff was so wonderful with my little Buddha. I won't be going anywhere else and highly, highly recommend! They are doing great work at Willow River!

Bruna (our jack russell 6 month old) is very timid but she loves going to the Vet! Everyone at willow river is so kind and caring we will never go anywhere else

This place is AMAZING!!!! when we took our dog in for the first time he got introduced to everyone there. He got more treats and peanutbutter then he ever had!!!! They took such good care of him!!! My sister also had to take her cat to get put down and they were so gentle and kind.

Dr. "Brad" and his staff are amazing people. Our dog had a mass removed today, and it was a very scary thing for us. From the consult to the surgery, Dr. Brad and his staff took the time to answer our questions, and listen to our concerns. They showed care and compassion, and most of all never gave us any doubt that they had our dog's best interests in mind. They made our girl a VIP, (or VID,) while she was there. I don't think I can put into words the gratitude I feel for Dr. Brad and his team. We hope they continue to have a successful business, and will be in the area for many years to come!

Love these guys! I have taken my dog and a cat in for vet visits. They really take their time to make my anxious dog comfortable. They are knowledgeable and helpful! I highly recommend them for your dogs or cats!

The team at Willow River provides the best experience we have had with Charlottesville veterinary. Our dog has a unique set of problems and the team provides excellent care and explains everything they are doing extremely well. More importantly, they are open about cost/benefit questions and do not pressure unnecessary services for profit as we have experienced elsewhere. The team genuinely cares about the wellbeing of pet and family and you can feel that from the moment you walk in the door. Highly recommend this practice!

Fantastic people here, very competent. Our dog had a bad heat stroke, took her in and while on the phone called them. They were ready by the time we arrived, in less than 5 mins. They took great care of her, very prompt. Talked to us all the way through what was happening and what to look out for next. The price was quite reasonable for the circumstances. They even called us a day later to just check on her. Love their service.

I highly recommend Willow River Veterinary Services. I try to do research and be very informed on what is going on with my two large dogs to be sure they are getting the best treatment. One of my dogs has been fearful of vets in the past and Dr. DiCarlo spent time with me to plan how we could make this the best experience possible for my dog so that he is calmer and not stressed at visits, rather than just holding him down and forcing through the vaccines and other treatments. Such a personalized approach to treatment that I have not received at other vets. Dr. DiCarlo was happy to answer all of my questions and give me very thorough explanations. I never felt like I was being rushed out of the office, like I have at other vets in the past. I was even able to see the treatment area in the office and all the state of the art technology the office has. I would be very confident having this office test and diagnose my pets, if they had something going on. It’s obvious that Dr. DiCarlo and his staff love animals and want what is best for your pets. I’m at ease knowing that I’ve found a vet who cares as much about my dogs as I do and whom I can trust to answer all my questions honestly. The prices were also very fair. I called and compared prices for many preventative services with other veterinarians in Charlottesville. Great treatment and a great price! Unbeatable.

Would highly recommend! Brought my cat here for routine vaccinations. The staff is extremely friendly and caring and good with dealing with nervous pets.
