Every part of my experience with this vet was a high-class act of the entire way. Doctor Miller even took time to handwrite a note with condolences of my dog's passing.

My little guy was diagnosed with a heart murmur and we've been seeing VVS for his echocardiograms and monitoring. The vets have been nothing but kind, understanding and competent.

Wonderful folks, they saved my dog Chloe life.

Extremely competent staff. They were very communicative, informative, and even adamant about follow ups while working with a closer vet to us for those X-rays. Worth the travel for the procedure and we would recommend to anyone with a dog who needed CCL surgery.

Very professional and everyone was very nice and careing. Would definitely use them again. Thanks again to Dr. Stiffler and all staff who took care of Brewster boy!

Very comprehensive doctors and friendly staff

My poor kitty Haley has been struggling over the last month with chronic kidney failure out of no where, UTI and other infections that all hit at once over the span of just a few days. She almost died on us and my vet (Piedmont) recommended we go to VA Vet Specialists. The staff is so kind, caring and extremely helpful with explanations. Dr. Purnell has been calling me with details on every step that has been happing with our sweet calico Haley. When Haley was hospitalized for 3-4 days straight, I was receiving 3 calls per day from the doctor herself. Little Haley is now on numerous medications and visits the specialists between 1-3 times per month now. This is extremely expensive, but worth it. Dr. Purnell has given us all options and even gave us her opinion when she felt a certain test was unnecessary. Overall our family highly suggests the Virginia Vet Specialists.

I cannot say enough about Virginia veterinary specialist!!! Every single person that I have had contact with there, has gone above and beyond to make sure they took care of both of my cats Cooper and Colby. I brought in Cooper because he had a rare cancer, and every person I spoke to and took care of him, went above and beyond to make sure every question was answered and made sure that Cooper’s care was top notch. They treated him like a king. I knew my babies were in excellent hands. Every time I called and spoke to anyone they put my fears at ease and made sure they answered every question even when I had no idea what I needed to ask, even when my anxieties were at their worst they put them at ease. I would recommend them over anyone. Top notch facility. Loved everyone I spoke to and took excellent care of Cooper!!!! Hands-down recommend Virginia Veterinary Specialists!!!

The staff here saved our dog’s life. It was a complicated emergency surgery in which a foot of intestines were removed. We’re in the middle of a huge vet shortage and I’m so thankful for the vet techs and the veterinarians and the folks answering the phone for the care they provided. Thank your veterinary staff today, they are going through a lot. They worked seamlessly with Greenbrier Emergency next door, who I would also give 5 stars for their part. My dog wouldn’t be alive without them.

I gave 4 stars because they are still strictly enforcing covid restrictions. I would have much rather been able to see the vet in person rather than on the phone. She did, however call me and I didn't feel rushed and she answered my questions. Definitely worth the trip to help my girl, Lola.

I could not have asked for a better experience with this vet. I was referred for my dog’s torn ccl and ended up having a TPLO surgery done. I had doubts going into the consult initially, and hounded Dr. Stiffler for probably 30-45 minutes with questions and he was very patient and understanding. He thoroughly answered all of my questions in a way that I could understand, yet I could tell he had years of experience and deep knowledge of the procedure, as well as familiarity with every other procedure that has been published for this same injury (I believe he said there were 76 total). I also loved that the price of the surgery included all testing, blood work, as well as post-operative X-rays. My dog is now basically completely recovered, and throughout the entire 12 week process every technician I spoke to was incredibly empathetic and open to answering any questions I had along the way. You can be sure that by coming here, your pet will be in the most capable hands.

We traveled 2.5 hours to have our Pomeranian's torn ligament repaired. They were able to see us much sooner than any specialist closer to us. I'm very glad we had the surgery done at VA Veterinary Specialist. We were able to have her records reviewed and surgery scheduled without traveling all that way. Everyone there was super nice and my dog has healed up just fine. Highly recommend them and they're worth the drive.

Our dog has a severe complex hind leg fracture, the level of care is top notch. They are very professional and answer all questions no matter how simple. They're compassion and love of animals shows. So nice to know that the local specialty vets and staff are available even when you hope you never need those services.

Excellent customer service. Dr. Paling (Cardiologist) is clear, concise and compassionate. I highly recommend VA Vet Specialists for specialty vet care.

Everyone has been absolutely amazing! They took great care of my baby. I was so concerned about her and they answered all of my questions, they were kind, compassionate and they all showed her love when I couldn't be with her. They answered my call after hours for me to check in on her and they followed up with me a few days after her stay to check in.

After over a month of not knowing what was wrong with one of my pups, I was referred to Virginia Veterinary Specialists. They saw my pup very quickly and came up with an action plan. Dr. Ryan was very sweet and explained all the options very well. After trying to the easy approach it was clear my pup needed a more in-depth test. I dropped my pup off and knew he was in very good hands. They called and gave me updates and handled all my questions quickly and easily. They are so friendly and don't make you feel like you are a bother when you have a ton of questions. I would happily recommend them to anyone.
