Good people. Our little dog looks forward to coming here (which is always a good sign) for grooming's and for boarding. They do a great job and I feel they care about the animals.

This is a very amazing place we have taken one of our dogs here for a while, they have taken great care of him. We just recently took another one of our dogs and he is still happier than ever. I would 10/10 recommend!!

We take our pup Obi here frequently for boarding when we go out of town. The staff is always so friendly and my dog comes home happy and tired from playing. We plan to continue taking our dog here for a long time!

I took my dog there 2 days ago and I regret it so much his eyes were in so much pain they cut his eyelashes and eyebrows at the end of the day he couldn’t open his eyes I had to take him to the ER they told me that the reason was because they cut his eyelashes and the light was hurting him also they put some shampoo that got him an allergic reaction I DO NOT !!! Recommend this place at all !!

I do not recommend this groomer to anyone! I called and asked if they had groomers that knew how to cut schnauzers hair. They told me yes and scheduled my 3 schnauzers. I went in early. Gave them a paper with pictures of how I prefer them groomed and little quircks they each have. My dogs were there for 5 hours so I called to check on them. They said they are still getting cut!! Finally after 6 hours I was able to go pick them up. Driving home I noticed how choppy their legs and skirt were. Then I noticed my littlest schnauzer had bloody nails. And later I noticed they had cut his little peepee bloody too! They didn't even mention to me that he was bleeding in more places than one! Makes me wonder if they were there so long waiting for him to stop bleeding. After calling and talking to a nice receptionist about what had happened she let me know the owner would call me the next day. The owner text me, and she hadn't even heard what had happened to my dogs. I have a screenshot of her text and all the pictures of my poor dogs but it won't let me post them. In her text she told me that because I'm critical of the groom's they did I should not return. In my opinion it's ok to be critical of something you pay for when it ends up nothing like you wanted and your pets were cut and you weren't informed. The people that groomed my schnauzers were definitely not experienced!

We absolutely love PPP! We never worry about leaving our dog while we are gone because the care and attention they give him is outstanding. We interact with Andy and Claudine the most and they are always so helpful and accommodating. Everyone we have met there has been lovely. Our pup always comes home happy, healthy, and tired from hours of playing. Thank you, Pet Pals for treating our dog like one of your own!

I’ve used Pet Pals for a couple of years now. They were great, at first. This last time I took both of my small dogs there. My older one is 14.5 years old and 10 pounds. He has been there before, multiple times. My new one is only 4 years old, 7 pounds and I adopted her in January. It was her first time. I took them over the 24th of July. I received no communication over the 4 nights they were there (usually a good sign) and when I picked them they said they did good but my new one was skiddish. I had warned them that she is scared but not aggressive in any way. After I got them home (Sunday evening), I noticed my older male had a hot ear and it was very sensitive. He is a chihuahua and so ear problems can be common. I called the Vet the next morning thinking he had an ear infection. They couldn’t get me in until the following Thursday. Monday evening I noticed puncture wounds on his next that had dried blood and had scabbed over (he is black so I didn’t see the blood at first). On Thursday, the Vet confirmed it was an attack wound. When I called PPP they first denied an attack but then called back and confirmed “another dog went after him” but said they pulled it off of him and “checked him out and he seemed fine”. He ended up having major bruising and needed meds to help with the pain. I dropped his Vet bill off and they said they would look at it and let me know. The next Monday I hadn’t heard anything so I called back. I was finally called back by the owner (this was the first I had heard from her) after I left a message. She asked if I had a question on my refund. I said, “I am even getting one? I didn’t hear back”. She confirmed she had sent a check for the Vet bill and a partial refund on his boarding fee. When I received the check, there was no explanation or note. The memo line simply had my dogs name, but was incorrect, quartz when my dogs name is Quetz (Kets). Every time I fill out paperwork for him I put his pronunciation so they know. Their lack of responsibility to notify me of an incident and then communication afterwards is insulting. If I had been notified at the time of the incident, I would have left my trip and been home within 2 hours. I would not have pursued a refund as I completely understand that things happen; especially when it comes to animals. As they didn’t even acknowledge the incident until after I asked about it (and my dog was in pain for 4+ days), a full refund was the least they could do and they have lost all of my future business. EDIT TO REPLY: My dogs name has no ‘r’. You also state that most owners understand there is a risk. If you had read my complete review, you would have read that I understand things happen, especially with animals and I would not have pursued anything had I been notified. When I dropped off the Vet bill, I spoke to Andy who was there when it happened. He said he did check him and seemed fine but the next day when he went to pet him, he yelped when he touched his ear. Yet you still thought he was okay and seemed fine and didn’t think it was a big enough issue to report it?!? There were puncture wounds and blood! Unless you are a licensed Vet, you aren’t qualified to say my dog is fine. If this had been a human child you could be sued for not notifying a parent of an incident that caused injury while under your watch. The point is that you take NO responsibility in this. I never received an apology from you or for your unprofessionalism. Andy and Claudine did say THEY were sorry it happened. The check you received was sent PRIOR to our conversation, so your defense is ridiculous. You state the offending dog was released to play with other dogs the next day. That shows lack of responsibility for any other dog it may attack. This should be considered animal cruelty as you had a dog attack mine and let my fur baby be in extreme pain for many days. When I said an x-ray may be needed if he wasn’t better in a week, you said that I would need to “decide on that” insinuating that you would not be responsible for any additional costs if he needed further care.

If I could give this place zero stars I would! We dropped off our boxer Chloe here to be boarded while we were gone out of town for a funeral.. We usually take our dog to a different place but since this was last minute they were booked and we didn’t have many other options of places to take her. Only 8 hours into her stay I received a phone call from a business and our local veterinary hospital that someone had found our dog wandering the area.. They said she was hungry and very dehydrated. I called the facility and they had no idea my dog was even missing! I gave her the # of the lady who found my dog and told her to give me a call back once they had her back and safe at their facility.. She told me they had her back and that they checked the fence and there were no holes or gates left open and that she must have jumped the fence! What?! Is no one watching my dog when they let them out to play? She told me they would keep her inside and not let her out again.. They do not open until 4pm on Sundays so while we were waiting for them to open to pick up our dog I received a phone call that they let her out to play and that she escaped again and they had been out looking for her. Why was she let out again when they specifically told me they wouldn’t? My husband searched the Layton area for hours with no luck! Until later that night I received a phone call and luckily someone found our precious dog! Again she was starving and severely dehydrated! Pet pals place closes at 6pm on Sunday’s and they never called me to see if we had found our dog.. I thought if they even cared or felt responsible that they would at least give us a call they next day which again they NEVER did! If you love your dog and want to make sure they’re safe, and that you will see them again when you return from vacation NEVER EVER take your pet to this place! My dog obviously didn’t like this place if she kept trying to escape. They obviously could care less and don’t feel responsible for losing my dog not once but TWICE! We are lucky she was found safe and wasn’t hit by a car on these surrounding busy streets! There are so many boarding facilities and I will do more research in the future to make sure my dog receives the best care, and I can make sure she is safe while we are away! I don’t feel that we should be the ones to reach out and let you know we found our dog! We were worried sick and I feel that if you were as well that you would reach out ASAP (not wait until the end of the day)! We have never had this issue with our dog trying to escape especially jumping over barbed wire fences! I understand it maybe happening one time but there is no excuse for the second incident! Is this you offering to pay us $500 dollars for our troubles? If my dog can escape I do worry about the safety of the other dogs.. Especially when an owners drops them off expecting them to be kept safe and not running around with the possibility of getting hit or killed!

We took our dog (a yorkie/dachshund mix) in for grooming. When they called for us to pick her up she was still damp and they explained that they didn’t cut her nails because she didn’t like it. Of course she didn’t like it, many dogs don’t. If it was fun and easy we wouldn’t pay a groomer. I won’t be going back.

Pet Pals Place is hands down the best groomers in Davis County! Not only do they do an amazing job and communicate well, they are so affordable! Our dogs love going there and it’s a great experience

A few things up front. I rescued my dog 5 years ago and he is not the ideal dog for a kennel to begin with. I lost my dog sitter two days before leaving on vacation and this happened to be one of the only places that had space. Ok, on to the review. This place is much more like a dog pound than a kennel. He was there 9 days and lost a lot of weight. The cage he was in when I picked him up had 5 or 6 piles that had been sitting in the cage with him. I was told that my dog did not like people or other dogs so he was pretty much left alone. While I was gone I called to check in on him. All they could tell me was "all the dogs were good and that they were checked on that morning." Nothing specific about my dog and just a general over view of those that were there. I did not have a good feeling about this place when I dropped him off and that feeling was proven right when I picked him up. What I can say is they kept my dog alive while they had him.

It's not the biggest or fanciest place but they did a good job taking care of our dog that doesn't like other dogs. They kept him separate without charging us extra which was really nice. Nice people

We will unfortunately never be returning to this facility again. We took our 3 month old puppy in for her first grooming, and were very specific on not wanting her to be shaved or have any skin showing. We wanted her to still be "fluffy" and showed them pictures of how we wanted her. When we picked her up (3 hours later), she was SHAVED and the cut was extremely uneven and nothing close to what we requested. Granted, they let us know she had mattes that they couldn't untangle AFTER picking her up, but it would've been a nice courtosy of them to call us and ASK us if they could cut her shorter than we requested. She wasn't even bathed and her nails weren't trimmed (like they told me they would do over the phone). I understand puppies are hard and mine may not have been on her best behavior, but that's why we trusted to hand her over to a professional to take care of her. I'm very disappointed and I hope my review helps their facility to improve.

Called to have dogs dropped off today. She was never to be seen. It caused a mad panic as we had a flight to catch. Worst customer service ever!! I'd give zero stars. If I align a drop off I would expect someone to be there for their office hours. Give some thoughts to this as your dogs are probably left alone and no one is checking in on them!

I have been a client of Pet Pals Place for years and never had a bad experience. My dogs past and present have enjoyed going camping at Annette's . They are well fed and cared for. The entire staff are kind and courteous. The rates are reasonable as well. I'll never use anyone else. Thank you

This was our first time boarding our dogs with PPP. The staff was nice enough. They allowed us to drop our dogs off for a free visit for a couple hours so they could get used to the place. However, they didn't have us tour the facility at all. Plus, the dogs don't actually stay there if they stay overnight. They go to a different location at the owner's house (we didn't tour that either). Anyway, they seemed nice enough and we liked the idea of our dogs getting to be around other dogs while we were away for 3 days. Here's where the problems really started. We picked our dogs up and they had both of them in the same kennel. Granted, our dogs are small, but it was weird to see them all crammed in the same kennel. Next, the following morning, one of our dogs became ill. Progressively over the course of 4 days, she had vomitting, diarahhea, malaise and wouldn't eat. We took her to the vet and they verified she had a bacterial infection--likely from the kennel. So, after $100 for a visit and medicine, our one dog was on the mend. Then, this last weekend (almost 2 weeks after their kennel visit) our other dog came down with the same sickness. I'm sure they likely passed it between eachother, but the point is that we paid for our dog's kennel visits and then paid for vet visits, and have had to clean our carpets from all the accidents. So now two weeks after our visit, we're still cursing PPP for all the troubles. I realize dogs are dogs and things will happen, but for our first visit to PPP, we were not impressed. The entire operation felt half-assed and unorganized. Nice people, yes, but I wouldn't recommend PPP to anyone. Your pets deserve better.

We just completed our first fill week at Pet Pals Place and I'm very happy. I have two dogs, an arthritic pit bull mix and an energetic German shepherd and both come out happy and are relaxed the rest of the evening. The staff have told me they keep my older dog with other dogs who won't play too rough with her so her arthritis isn't irritated. There also haven't been any issues with my GSD who has at times been aggressive with other dogs when he's too hyped up or overly stressed which means they do a good job of keeping him busy, without pushing him.
