We have used Dr Bauer for many years. My family members are clients as well. The entire staff are so caring and thorough when ever our pets see them. I can truly say they put our animals care above anything else. I would recommend them to anyone in need of a good animal clinic.

This place reminds me of vets from days gone past. They really care about your animals and not running up your bill like modern vets like to do. 100% recommend.

Dr. Bauer and her staff are absolutely the best. They love our animals as if they were their own. There is no distance I wouldn't drive to be able to call Southside Animal Hospital our family's vet!

Dr. Bauer and her team of veterinary professionals are the best I've ever worked with. Their compassion, skill, reliability, and friendliness have been a blessing to us and our rescue dog, Lily. Lily loves to go to "Doctor, Doctor" whether for a routine check up, or treatment for an illness. She looks forward to her visits with positive excitement. Recently, Lily was diagnosed with liver cancer and we know she will get the best treatment possible until her time comes - and that Dr. Bauer and our friends at Southside will be there for us and Lily when that happens too. Love them all!

The staff and Dr. Baur were great and thorough. I will be reposting when we are able to physically get back into the clinic, but I enjoyed our first visit with my two fur babies!

I came in in a panic. My certified emotional support dog, that had recently given birth to a litter of 3, had a lump the size of a golf ball that appeared within the span of twenty-four hours on one of her teets. Thinking it to possibly be Mastitis. I rushed her to the nearest animal clinic because online it said that Mastitis could become life-threatening rapidly. Just so happen to be at the same time they were closing. Is sending me away for that reason would have been totally acceptable, I understand what it's like to want to get home. What transpired though was not. now when talking to the veterinarian as she was walking out of the building, I pre-qualified my question by saying "I am not trying to get medical advice for free" I then asked if there was any way that she could tell if this issue was mastitis or a bug sting. what the veterinarian herself told me was "unfortunately, no I cannot, because in order to determine if it's mastitis I have to run a couple of lab tests and those tests do cost money!!" Still in a panic, I drove straight up youree to PetSmart, went inside to sign in to see the vet. While signing in one of the staff members was asking questions about why I was there, I explained to them my issue and the emergency in which I felt that it was. when I finished explain to the lady at the counter for my issue was she went to the back and grab the veterinarian and brought her to the front. She took one look for all of seven seconds and determined that it was not mastitis, that it was indeed a bug sting. 7 seconds. That shows you exactly how much they care about your animal at this business. PetSmart, one of the worst reputations vets in the city. A corporation with no soul, actually took the time to care whenever a locally owned vet basically just blew me off. PetSmart didn't even charge me. I wouldn't send my enemies to this veterinarian.

I don't even know where to begin with this review..... We were looking for a Vet Office with great reviews to take our pets to. It started out great and we decided to make an appointment to get our male dog neutered and our female dog looked at because she was a rescue found on the side of the road.. Unfortunately the female dog did test heart-worm positive, which sucks in itself. When speaking with the Vet she gave us a quote of 900$ for treatment. She said the the female dog had a "high positive". When asked what the difference is between a a positive and a high positive she based off of the male and female worms present in the heart and said that "there is no way to know how bad they actually are"; FALSE. She also quoted us at 1 year of time to rid of the heart worms. I was thinking man, this vet really knows what she's talking about.. After speaking with family who has went through this, they said that doesn't sound right and look into it before forking a 900$ bill and an excess of time for treatment.. After reading into the treatment & seeking opinions from two different Vet Clinics we were told that they are not sure why it would take a year for treatment, that you can have x-rays done to see how bad the heart worms are, and the price quoted after explaining the exact situation was 557$ for one vet & 632$ for the other.. well below the 900$ quoted here. They also advised treatment would only be for 4 months and after treatment is completed to wait 6 months to re-test and confirm for a negative result.. When confronted with the abundance of information we have found and researched the vet admitted that x-rays are available to see how bad the worms are, HOWEVER she doesn't use x-ray practice to determine the stage or how bad the worms are.. she also says that they follow the American Heartworm Society's guidelines for treatment. Unfortunately she would never let me finish a sentence to explain that is where I got most of my information along with other vets. She also stated that she felt she was being attacked by how she does her practice; after apologizing for her feeling "attacked" I tried again to explain that we as customers feel that she is trying to dollar us from the unfortunate situation rather than help us, she again interrupted and wouldn't allow me to finish on why we had the abundance of questions. I will also say the lack of communication between the staff and patients is below standards. They advised they do not follow up with you to let you know how the surgery went or how your pet is doing. It is your responsibility to call. When calling, they rush you off the phone. They made me feel so rushed every time I got on the phone, I had to call back multiple times to confirm a the test for intestinal worms was negative, if they had checked the ears to confirm an ear infection, what the treatment was, and when to pick up our dog. All I'm going to say is, if you decide to go here... SEEK A SECOND OPINION. After much research we feel & have come to the conclusion that they are trying to get the most amount of money out of the unfortunate situation.

I called to make an appointment for both my cat and dog for two weeks out, I called to see if they could get my dog in sooner because he had been having a bad cough and I was afraid he had heartworms. They got me in that day and worked with my schedule. I have an hour for lunch and I was in and out within the hour. Everyone I spoke to was super nice and sweet. Their prices are great, they don't try to oversell you on anything and honestly I wish I had been coming here sooner. Great Service. Very pleased!

This is the kindest vet clinic I have been to. I brought my poodle to get spayed and got an update as soon as she was out of surgery letting me know how she had done and the next morning to let me know how everything went overnight. They were very thorough with everything. I have also received texts since checking on her to make sure she’s recovering well. They were very friendly. Not only did I love them, my spoodle did as well! We will be going back! Thank you for being so kind to our fur baby!

I abouslutely LOVE the new owner of The Southside Animal Hospital. Dr. Ashlei Bauer is a wonderful, loving and caring veterinarian. She has been treating my animals for as long as I can remember. We followed her from the hospital she worked at in Haughton and never had a second thought about doing so. I highly recommend this veterinarian for any and all of your fur babies needs.

The sweetest and most friendly place to take your pet. Our three year old Schnauzer loves Dr. Lloyd and his staff. You won't find a better bet for your precious pet then Southside Animal Hospital.

More geared to dogs than cats and fairly slow to respond to phone messages. Front desk staff members aren't particularly friendly. Vet techs seem very competent and invested in the animals' wellbeing.
