Mission Vet was there to save the day when we were having a very bad one. They were the only vet in San Antonio that showed that they truly cared. I believe my puppy Holly received the best care possible thanks to them. The ladies in the front were on top of things and very polite during this hard time. Thank you all!

They wanted $1000.00 PAYMENT up front just to see my cat. This is incredibly reckless and irresponsible not only for desperate pet owners, but their pets as well. There is absolutely no excuse for charging that amount of money before a …

Very kind, professional and precise. What I love the most is that they did as much diagnostic approaches before taking radical measures. I know that they had Ziggy and I’s best interest in mind.

We took our Billy in on Friday afternoon, yes we did have to wait, but staff came out to check his vitals. When the time came to speak with us, Dr. Alicia made sure we had all family members present that needed to hear the diagnosis. They were very compassionate. They let us say our final goodbyes to Billy. They did not rush us. They took their time. The staff loved on Billy as well. I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the dedication you have in this field. The Estrada Family

Very impressed with the staff's compassion and level of care. I’ve taken two of my dogs here and feel they always go above and beyond to ensure their health. One of my dogs required emergency spine surgery, he’s made a full recovery and better than ever. They were so patient and caring through the whole surgery, his short stay after, and all the way through post-op care. Highly recommend!

Good communication about staus however would recommend workflow change to allow triage and the return to home until able to be seen

Great besides how long of a wait there was. Check in was simple! I wish they would have communicated about how my pet was during the stay. But once he was seen by a vet it was speedy! The vet was extremely nice and listened to my concerns about how expensive things were and worked with me

We never received a memory gift in dedication of our family pet of 13 years. This was promised after they "Forgot" to do the paw imprint of our pet.(even though we checked yes on that) I have sent numerous emails to the office manager that promised this arrangement for the past 7 months, whom I never got a response or update from at all. I got tired of sending email after email and get no response so I'm leaving a review. Please don't make empty promises to families that are already hurting. Office staff/management needs to do better. Very disappointed. And please do not bother contacting us now.

My 11 year old Havenese who had heart issues started having problems breathing on Christmas morning. After thinking he might be doing better he took a turn for the worse the next morning and I brought him to Mission Vet. He was seen immediately by Dr Johnson who was professional and understanding. After X-rays, and blood work he called with not great news and I knew it was time to say goodbye. Dr Johnson understood my need to be with Nico - saying goodbye was heart breaking but helped by Dr. Johnson and his staff. I can't say enough about their professionalism and more importantly caring. Staff and doctors were all very friendly and caring. In addition, they were thorough and efficient in telling us about Juno's diagnosis. Treatment options were explained clearly so we could make informed decisions.

The staff has always been caring and friendly. We’ve never had to wait long for our appointment. The vets are very knowledgeable and explain things thoroughly. They made sure my pup had the best care possible during our appointment so we could get the answers we needed to get him feeling better. Highly recommend.

Usually when a business provides bad service I tend to not leave a review. I usually chalk it up to an employee having a bad day, the business being swamped with work or any other number of reasons and I don’t leave a negative review. But this business provided me with such abismal service that I had to warn off other dog owners. I am giving this business a 1 star because I am unable to give them 0 stars. To begin, I called ahead of time and was told my pets symptoms were deemed an emergency (by them and other ER’s in the area). This specific ER told me they had a short wait time with only 4 patients ahead of me when we arrived. Upon arrival I was told I would need to check in online after receiving a text message with a link. Once again, I believe this could've been communicated over the phone prior to my arrival so I could check in while on the way. We received no check in instructions other than "check in online using the link". The check in portal they use was very confusing and not user friendly. It took me about 15 min to figure out how to check my pet in. After completing the check in instructions online it took them another 30 min to send me a confirmation text informing me my pet was checked in. After that my pet was taken in for an initial physical exam. About 90 min went by before a vet tech (who was extremely thorough) came out to speak with us. After speaking with the vet tech, he informed us there was still 4 patients ahead of us and for us to sit tight and continue waiting in our vehicles until it was our turn. Another hour went by before i decided to go in and ask to see my pet. They let me wait with my pet in my vehicle. At this point I had waited several hours and still hadn't received any updates on the queue or where we were in line to be seen. I asked one more time and was told there was still 4 patients ahead of me but that I would be seen shortly. I waited another 2 hours before going to wait inside, thinking they business might've forgotten I was there. Another vet tech came outside to check my dogs heart rate and informed me I was next in line with my dog. I decided to stay inside to wait to be seen. 2 more hours go by and I still had not been seen. I decided to ask where I was in line. The receptionist had no idea and told me she would ask a vet tech to check and inform me. I told her I had been waiting since 9am and it was now 4pm. She did not seem to care and informed me that if another patient arrives with a higher priority they will skip you in line. A few minutes later another vet tech (at this point I had spoken with 4 different vet techs) came out to inform us it would be another 3-4 hour wait to be seen since our dogs emergency was an emergency, still an emergency but not a serious emergency and recommended us just go with our primary the following day. I decided at that point to leave after having spent 7 hours waiting and never got seen. As I walked out I walked past the reception desk and thanked the receptionist for her help and told her to have a good day, to which I was ignored by all 3 receptionist who all stared at me as I walked out. This business is pitiful. They never kept us updated on our pet while they had her. They never updated us on our place in line. The receptionist showed absolutely no compassion every time I spoke with them. They did not seem to care about how long we waited or how upset we were. Their procedures are incredibly mismanaged and in turn make the customer just deal with it if they want to be seen. Overbooking, no communication and no compassion were just a few of the reasons I have room to talk about now. I would hope no pet owner ever even considers taking their pet to such a horrible place. You're better off going to school, medical school, vet school, becoming a vet, opening your own private office, and diagnosing your pet before you're ever seen by them.

Had a terrible accident involving our family dog. Took to MissionVet at 6am Sunday morning. We were met in the parking lot by a vet tech that took our dog immediately inside. The Doctors and staff were knowledgeable, professional and caring. All procedures and charges were discussed beforehand. Telephone calls with updates often. Sadly our dog did not survive. The staff cleaned him up, put him in a burial box and made a plaster paw print free of charge. Thank you MissionVet for your professionalism during a very difficult time.

I had an emergency with my dog Nina and I took her to Mission vet yesterday Dec. 25 after she gets wrong diagnosis and med's from an other vet clinic. She was critical and she need it an emergency surgery but I need it 4,000.00 in advance to start and I only had 2,000.00 with me and all I ask was 2 days to pay the balance while the bank opens ,and they denied my offering 5 hours after I found another clinic and did the surgery but after 2 hours of the surgery my Nina passed away and all I can say is the they are a nice facility but heartlesss people that only think on the money not on the pet's health or the owners feelings

Stunningly and shamefully unresponsive!!! This clinic refused to provide prescribed pet food despite a referral from the Emergency Pet Clinic in San Antonio, without doing their own admission and full work up. We were visiting SA for Christmas. We had to take our 12 year old dog to EPC due to vomiting and severe diarrhea. Following an evaluation including blood tests and x-rays ($900), she was prescribed gastrointestinal pet food and referred to MissionVet Specialty & Emergency for further diagnostics (abdominal ultrasound). MVS&E could not schedule the ultrasound for at least two weeks. We understand this. FAR WORSE (and incomprehensible), we asked to purchase 6 cans of food (EPC claimed not to have additional food and it is only available via a vet*). We were informed that we could not purchase ANY FOOD from MissionVet WITHOUT ADMISSION TO THEIR EMERGENCY CLINIC AND ANOTHER FULL WORKUP despite a detailed referral from EPC. We presume that this would cost another $1000, or about $175/13.5oz can. IN ADDITION THIS WOULD REQUIRE OUR ALREADY TIRED AND STRESSED DOG TO UNDERGO A COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY EXAMINATION. We explained that we ARE JUST VISITING SA FOR SEVERAL MORE DEAYS AND THAT WE HAD BEEN REFERRED TO THEM SPECIFICALLY by EPC. We are simply seeking enough food to hold us until we got back in Indianapolis (3 days) and were trying to keep our dog comfortable. Still, they refused. Beyond a customary professional courtesy to honor the other clinic’s referral, the level of cravenness of this “clinic” is stunning. (We look forward to their bureaucratic response suggesting how sorry they are that we are displeased, but they must abide by their own policies regardless of the absurdity of the refusal to sell a half dozen cans of dog food without gouging us fully). *Please see our review of Emergency Pet Clinic. In short, initial care was fine if expensive, but also made purchase of additional food an unnecessary challenge.

Never again. Triage is to be expected, but they will over-accept until they are swamped then deprioritize your pet without a single word to the owner that your pet hasn't received care so you can check other options before they close. Absolutely shameful my pet has to suffer another night because of their lack of communication after sitting in their office for hours on end.

This place is a joke. We came in with our pet who had been attacked by another dog, had multiple punctures on her neck they took our dog and we waited for 5 HOURS and were given no updates on how our dog was while other pet owners had been given multiple updates about their dogs “upset tummy”. We asked if it was possible to see our dog for a sec after waiting for so long and they still did not bring our dog out. They have 0 communication skills and will over book themselves to where you will have to wait for hours. I highly recommend taking your place elsewhere.

When Batman (cat) came home after being missing for 24 hours, he was dragging his back end and couldn’t walk. We immediately took him to our local emergency vet but all they could do was X-ray and refer us to San Antonio. After a 2.5 hour drive, we arrived just before 8:00 am. The staff was wonderful, but yes you have to wait. The first doctor was very kind and explained things very well and transferred Batman to neurology with Dr. Cooper. I returned home to wait because it would be 2 days before Dr. Cooper could see him, and I got status updates twice a day from the staff. Dr. Cooper felt like surgery could have a good outcome so we went for it. She and the staff were so sweet to me and Dr. Cooper’s surgery on Batman appears to be a success!!! He can walk on his own just like before, but his run has a little wiggle, LOL! Our family is so thankful because we know just how lucky we are to get this outcome. A++ for care and knowledge!

I took my German Shepherd because she was limping badly, and after keeping her there for over six hours and running x-rays and supposedly consulting with the expert they couldn’t find anything wrong with her legsand was charged. A day later with the same problem worsening i took her to her regular vet, it turned out she had thorned the crania crucia ligament and she needed urgent surgery to repair it.

I took my dog to Mission Vet on 10/25/2021 around 7am. I called before hand to inform them of the urgency. It still didn't matter once we got there. She was having labored breathing, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, weight loss and loss of appetite. Her gums were pale, but they didn't consider her "urgent". Their wait time time was 4 to 5 hours. After they took her, they just placed her in a kennel. Didn't even bother to do a quick exam in regards to her symptoms. If they would've done an exam, they would have seen the urgency. Instead she just waited alone in a kennel for over an hour. I was able to get her to another emergency vet and they took and evaluated her immediately. She was admitted and spent the night on oxygen and medication. She was diagnosed with Congestive heart failure. Her heart and lungs were filled with excess fluid. Their lack of urgency is worrisome to say the least. I wouldn't take any of my dogs there. Mission Vet obviously do not understand the concept of an emergency, even though it's on their name. My dog is on heart medication and is back to her old self. No thanks to Mission Vet. I would rate them zero stars if I could. Take your fur babies somewhere else where they actually listen to the pet parent.

NOT FOR EMERGENCY! My bleeding dog and I were just turned away at the door saying they weren't taking any emergencies. Another lady's dog couldn't breathe and they turned her away too.

I never leave reviews, but I feel compelled to do so today. Last night my dog got bloat. (That means her stomach flipped over inside of her body.) Bloat can be fatal. I rushed my dog in, called on my way and the phone was answered very quickly. A tech met me in the parking lot and rushed my dog into the back where they immediately started prepping her for an IV catheter and surgery. The surgeon communicated everything to me clearly, I agreed to surgery with no pressure one way or the other from the Dr. Surgery was successful, the surgeon touched base immediately following (at 1am, thank you Dr!). The post-op team was just as great, communicated well with me throughout the day and helped keep me calm throughout the recovery process. My sweet mutt is now home and resting comfortably just in time for Thanksgiving, and my bill was not even close to outrageous considering the services rendered. Absolutely thankful for the Mission team this turkey day. From the reception team to the nurses in the back (who took the time to trim my girls nails ????) to the DVM's, thank you for saving my brat. ????????

The place was clean and well staffed but the communication and service was terrible. I understand it’s a place for emergencies and critical pets come in unexpectedly, but I waited over 4 hours without ever being told what the wait might be like or when I could expect my pet to be seen. I had to go up to the counter twice to ask how much longer it would be and both times I was told “they were working with a new system” and they didn’t know. I appreciate the struggles of a place like this but to have my pet and I wait in the lobby for over 4 hours without ever even being acknowledged was excruciating. I left without ever being seen.

I don't have any complaints about my visit. Some people may have some issues with the order they see their patients, since it is the most crucial that goes first. But this isn't a normal vets office. It's an emergency clinic similar to a normal human emergency room where based off level of emergency for another animal that may come in, you may have to wait longer if your pet is stable. I was directed by poison control to go to my nearest vet office for bloodwork for my dog for a possible toxin ingestion. My normal vet office is four hours away so I did some quick research and even though this office was farther away than others that were open, I'm glad I came here. My dog was able to get an initial exam right after checking in and they could tell my dog was anxious, so they let him wait in the waiting area with me rather than in the kennel. He did very well considering he hates vets offices. With the wait time longer for my dog since he was thankfully not showing any change in behavior, we ended up waiting around 3 hours for bloodwork to begin. Dr. Robinson was very clear with all of her information and answered any and all questions I had. She was awesome! If I am in the San Antonio area, this will be the only emergency clinic I will take my dog to. Both my dog and I, had a great experience considering the circumstances.
