My cats are really tough to handle. They generally were able to work with them but i wished I was able to go inside the clinic with them so that they were more calm through the process. Overall my experience was good and my cats were able to get their vaccines. It is a little pricey compared to the vets they've had in the past.

First off, the admin staff and tech were very kind and responsive. Dr. Mata, however, not so much. My dog was positive for heartworms so when I received an email about her results and no phone call I was a little confused. So I called and didn’t think anything of it, I was told that this was a “serious condition” but could get an appt to get a confirmatory test for 1.5-2 weeks due to the holidays. The admin staff squeezed me in first thing in the morning since I work nights (so thankful for that!). When the results came back in I received another email, but all it said was that my dogs meds were ready. No one called (or emailed since that how this facility works) about the results and to talk about the next steps moving forward or how the meds should be taken. Instead, Dr. Mata very unprofessionally told me “I sent you an email with articles to read” and after I explained to her that I found her way of speaking to me to be unprofessional and rude, and would have preferred a phone call, she tells me “well that’s just how we do it here. I don’t know what else to say”. Along with the disrespectful/unprofessionalism she then tried to make me feel like I was delaying my dogs care/treatment, but it takes days to get a hold of her anyways. I will not be continuing my services here. I cannot speak for the other Vets at amigo, but avoid Dr. Mata. This facility is very pricey compared to other places and I would have stayed had the service and experience been pleasant. I am a Army nurse that works nights shift and just moved to the San Antonio area, my main concern when moving was finding a loving vet clinic for my two rescues. I chose amigo because it was close to home and seemed to have had great reviews. Never will I recommend this place to anyone with how terrible and completely unprofessional Dr. Mata is. Attached is the email I was supposed to search and look for Heartworms and liver disease. No direct links and we still never spoke step by step the steps for the dogs plan of care or medication administration.

I LOVE AAH! They are the absolute best! The Drs are always so amazing, caring, attentive, always provide above and beyond service. All my pups come to see them, even though it’s a 30minute drive from where we live; it’s worth the drive, every single time. Thank you DrT and DrM for being so awesome and keeping a positive attitude despite all the non-sense of today’s world. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always showing such kindness under all and any circumstances.

I love this clinic! The office and exam rooms are very clean and the staff are always friendly, helpful, and professional. The doctor is so caring and loving towards our dog. Additionally, doctor is always very thorough and explains our treatment plan. I know my dog is in the best hands at Amigo! Thank you for all you do :)

Had a Rx from my dogs oncologist. She’s In hospice and her stomach is a mess and my vet prescribed a med to help her. Rather than driving to Bandera road in traffic ( would be 45-60 minutes) I thought I would call Amigo to see if they would fill the Rx. I shared all the details and essentially the answer was no…. She had to be seen even though she has a prognosis, and is being treated in hospice. So essentially, Amigo wants the office visit fee. Not willing to assist us with this Rx. So disappointing. Will not go to this vet for my other pet or my kids pets. It’s called “compassion” and service. I experienced neither.

I took my pet to Amigo to have a tumor growth on her front right paw removed, they did biopsy and sent to the lab for cancer results, that was on 3/24. I called 3 times to find out the status of the lab results. I was told they would let me know. On one of those times the young lady apologized and said they had them and they would get them to me, that was Tuesday of this week. No email no call. I called yesterday and got a different young lady named Bailey who said that the lab results were in but not complete. Really? I told her I wanted a call from vet about the situation and at this time also told Bailey that they were the first vet that DID NOT call us to see how our pet was doing. No response. Last night at 6:20 PM we get the email results they sent to us from ANTECH. It is cancer. The email states they recommend we go to Mission Vet care. No call , no apologies for delay. You can use this vet. I will never do so again. It appears they are overwhelmed. I can understand that, but I will never understand and disrespecting a pet owner. Is this how you respond under pressure? Shame on you. You charged me for a service, I paid it to help my pet and you failed to deliver the type of vet care that you and your education should be able to do. Shame on you.

This is not a hospital it’s a vet office. I called to get my dog looked at and they told me they’re client list was full. Never heard that from the hospital

Definitely one of the most expensive vets around. More concerned with getting your money than taking care of your pet. We had a lump on our golden retriever that they wouldn't do anything about untill they aspirated it. They told us it was just a cyst. End up at another emergency vet a couple of months later and they notice the lump and say hey thats very likely a mammory tumor, lets get that removed. It was cheaper to have that removed there than it was to get the aspirations done at Amigo. Also Amigo has a very long wait before your pet can be seen. Almost a month all the time. The other vet is only two weeks and has round the clock emergency services and surgeons on staff unlike Amigo. Not going back to Amigo.

Staff was great! Very informative about procedures and follow up afterwards.

Definitely great communication, just wish the veterinarians provided more information on appointment details rather than just checking in and doing a quick check out.

I've been a patient of both Dr. Mata and Dr. Tapia before, with my dogs and have been nothing but satisfied throughout the years. How they treated an emergency this past weekend (6/14/20), really solidified how amazing they are. Although they are appointment based, when my kitten fell sick on a Sunday morning, I panicked and rushed her to their clinic. A lovely vet tech (Sydney) ran out and grabbed her, immediately taking her back. I'm sure they were very busy, but they still had the vet prioritize her and get her taken care of. Unfortunately, my Guinevere didn't make it, but I know that Dr. Mata did absolutely everything she could to make our baby's last moments comfortable. It makes me feel a bit better knowing that Dr. Mata and her team put Guinevere's comfort over everything else.

Clean & friendly place but it’s really pricey. My old vet is across town & is reasonably priced but due to an unfortunate event, I was in a rush to get my dog seen. My dog is better now & I’m really appreciative of the staff who cared for her in our time of need.

The vets are good but you can never get in for something urgent. Everytime I needed an appointment for my senior dog it would be days before the next available appointment, and I was always referred to an emergency vet. We had been patients there for 7 years I dont want to go to an emergency vet for everything outside of yearly shots I want to go to a vet that knows my dogs history. We will no longer be using this vet.

Dr. Tapia and her staff are simply THE BEST. I can’t even express my gratitude for the care that she and her staff have shown for my fur babies over the years. I feel like my dogs are in the best hands with her. I can tell you with absolute certainty that when your dog is very ill, you want the best care for them and that’s exactly what Amigo Animal Hospital provides.

They saw my 6 year old male neutered cat for urinary issues first thing in the morning, thankfully we caught it in time before he got worse. After some diagnostics and med/fluid therapy he is home with me on a new RX diet and it didn't break my wallet. Thank you Dr. Mata

I think this is a great Vet's office. Yeah it's a bit pricey but, what Vet isn't. Friendly and great staff and everyone always seems to genuinely care about my pet.

They were fast friendly and helpful. My dog was sick they figured it out quickly and now he's better.

Treated my dog well but I felt like I was paying for stuff that wasn't entirely necessary. I appreciate the fact that they cared about my pet, but I shouldn't be pressured to buy a bunch of products that I could buy some place else for probably cheaper.
