Great place doing great work. Everyone was so nice and you can tell they love being there and love helping animals. I adopted 2 cats from them.

After losing my cat unexpectedly, I was recommended to adopt from Abandoned Animal Rescue by my emergency vet. Big shelters in downtown Houston are supposedly known for high rates of respiratory infections and other illnesses due to the high volume of animals, however, I was told this is not an issue at AAR. My fiancé and I played with several kittens for an hour or two and ended up adopting an orange tabby kitten. The staff was incredibly kind and patient and made it super easy to pick the perfect pet for us. Our little buddy Nacho (now named Bourbon in honor of previous kitty Whiskey) was already neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and previously fostered for $45. They even included a cardboard carrier for the car ride, several days worth of kitten food, and some toys to play with when he got home. I will be recommending AAR to everyone I know from now on!

We were fortunate enough to find a perfect pup from AAR. We adopted a cat at their old location about 5 years ago. These people deal with animals in the kindest way. They really seem to put them first and our family appreciates that.

Everyone at AAR was so kind and helpful throughout the adoption process! They always are thinking about all of their animals and ensure they go to a place that is appropriate for the pet's needs. I was explained everything thoroughly and was comforted by the wonderful people there! I am so glad to have met the perfect dog at AAR and recommend them to anyone looking for a new family member!

I was very impressed with how well the animals are cared for. The facility is clean and the staff showed dedication and love for the animals in their care. I adopted a small Jack Russell terrier mix from AAR and it was a wonderful experience. I absolutely love him.

Best animal adoption experience we've ever had. The volunteers were so nice and helpful and take great care of the animals in their care. The facility was very clean and they have great areas for you to meet and get to know your new family member. We are so thankful to have our new fur baby Rookie.

This place is absolutely amazing. Great staff. Great care of their animals. Their new facility is perfect for their needs. If you can volunteer or donate to help these guys out at any point, they deserve it.

I found a kitten that had been hurt on the side of the freeway (don't know how we seen it but we did.) Called this shelter that is right up the road from my house thinking maybe they would help however, they of course were too full and couldn't take it. The lady at the shelter then advised me to call the spca! So as I wasn't sure on what to do with this almost lifeless baby that I had scooped up. I did find someone to take her that was over 1 1/2 hrs away. (But a no kill shelter) So ????thumbs down to this "animal rescue" business. -unsatisfied neighbor

Not very helpful and customer service was lacking.

This organization is absolutely amazing. The staff and volunteers are so sweet and genuinely care about the animals they take in. The facility was clean and well maintained. We adopted a wonderful dog, Ed (formerly Elway), and they sent us home with everything we needed to get started. Couldn't ask for a better experience!

Went to donate some stuff. These people are truly angels. Everything was so well organized and the animals and there living areas were so clean and peaceful. Wonderful Wonderful place. They have the sweetest animals that just speak to you with their eyes!

This rescue is amazing. We just lost our baby and I was googling rescues and found their site and some dogs we were interested in. My fiancé went the next day to meet the dogs we were interested in and the volunteers were so nice. The grounds and buildings we’re maintenance well. They sent us home with dog food, a harness, collar, leash, and engraved tag. She came spayed and they cured her of her heat worms. The volunteers have been checking in on us and have been so sweet. The picture below is her intake photo and then her first day at home.

This place is the Ritz Carlton of animal rescues. The animals receive the best care possible, including top notch veterinary care. The volunteers care for each and every animal that passes through their doors as if they are their own. I highly recommend this place.

The most clean and well run rescue I have ever been in! I regularly volunteer with the large dogs and it is truly a great experience. Everyone is super friendly, and the dogs are very sweet. Volunteering is the highlight of my day! ❤️
