Good alternative vet for those needing a lower cost vet

My husband and I have been Thrive members for our three pups and one cat for over 3/4 years now. Some of the vets here are wonderful! Some of the vets are not. We’ve been to the Manchaca location in Austin for one of our pups and they were fantastic. My husband was denied services because he was “late” e.g. waiting in the car outside the Fountainview location with our reactive dog so both him and our pup wouldn’t cause a scene. Second issue with this location is Dr. Ong. Dr. Ong is sarcastic and really unhelpful when it came to our nervous dog who is currently on an anti-anxiety medication. We had a year supply prescription from this location that was sent to Chewy’s which their pharmacy could not fill. We had to beg for two bridge scripts for our dog to hold her over. This medicine doesn’t allow a pet to abruptly stop. Dr. Ong would not budge on rewriting a new script for a year while we waiting for Chewy Pharmacy to send back our original prescription. It took 2 months for us to get the original paper prescription back and 3 trips to get a bridge script because Dr. Ong refused to call in the script to HEB across the street. Another instance of pure rudeness is Dr. Ong suggesting the supplements I’ve been giving my cat was too much but without recommending what to remove or keep. I mean, the comment was real…unnecessary. Below is a picture of said note and unhelpful write-up. Do better Dr. Ong! We want our pet family to be healthy, so please practice helpfulness without the side of sarcasm.

Terrible place. The vet just care about the money, they didn’t give us an answer about my pet. The just sent us back and he still sick. If I could put 0 starts I would.

I was about 8 minutes late my appointment on 10/23/21, I was denied access to the appointment for being late over 5 minutes. There was literally no one in the clinic - all exam rooms were empty. I am disappointed in the poor customer service from the front desk receptionist and the vet who was assigned. Poor excuse for veterinary health professionals.

Stay away from this clinic- very deceptive practices. I took my dog in who is a patient at the clinic for a nail clipping I was told was going to be $18. When I went to check out the bill was $18 plus a $17 vet tech fee. I told the receptionist no one had told me about this additional $17 fee and I would have never paid that amount for a nail clipping as many places nearby only charge $15 total (woofgang bakery for example). I was completely deceived and she would not waive the fee. I called the call center to let them know about the charge and they accidentally connected me to a clinic in Atlanta, no one from this location ever called me back. Also, the receptionist was rolling her eyes at me and completely unhelpful. While I was waiting a dog threw up in the lobby and it took the team like 15 minutes to clean it. Very deceptive and dirty clinic.

I just got hung up on by one of the employees when I requested the approval of medication to be sent directly to my email bc Chewys did not receive it. They said a manager will call tomorrow and hung up on me!!! I can't believe this behavior. 0 stars for customer service 0 stars of keeping track with my dogs medical records 0 stars for everything I am so disgusted with this place.

"Affordable" maybe?, Competent....NO. Let's start with the people that answer the phone, CLUELESS doesn't begin to describe the level of knowledge of their products and services. Essentially the wont answer any questions over the phone they require a "Consultation" with the doctor for $35. I called 4 vets this was the only clinic that would not give a price for a basic nueter.

My first time here and I thought the place was very clean and Doctor Foster was very nice and I could tell she cared about my cats health issues. However, the technician told me I would get a call later in the day (Friday) about ordering my cats prescription. I’m thinking why not jus call it in now. I waited and received no call that day. I called three times on Monday from the time they opened to almost closing. First two, I kept getting told “oh you’re about to receive a call back. I see you’re up next for a call back”. Never heard anything. Third call I told her I wasn’t getting off the phone unless I spoke to someone. Finally put me through to the doctor. Now it’s late in the day and the pharmacy is about to close. Not enough time to pick it up.

Takes forever to get a prescription approved even when you call them multiple of times. Not professional at all. Plenty of other vets in the Houston area that will take care of your furbaby and go the extra yard for there clients. Will be taking our business elsewhere.

I wish I could give a 2 reviews. For the quality of care and the treatment received I give 5 stars. The doctors are great, and the head technician is awesome. They are very professional and caring with the animals. However, ever since they moved to Fountainview, their scheduling system, and wait times for appointments (plus prescription refills) is terrible. I don't know if it's a new computer system, but now trying to schedule or reschedule is a hassle. I scheduled an appointment through the app, then had to reschedule. But you can't reschedule through the app, you have to call. After rescheduling by phone, I got 2 different text reminders from 2 different numbers about my original appointment. I of course replied no to those, only to find out I had cancelled my rescheduled appointment. It's all super confusing. Figure it out! There should only be a reminder from 1 number. Also, the corporate line of prescription refills taking 24-48 hours is no longer true. If there is not a doctor available, you can wait days. I waited a full 7 days and every time I called, customer service would give me the 24-48 hours BS. Bring back the efficiency you had at your Westheimer location.

The pink haired vet was literally SO SO rude. All in all deserves to fired. She spoke unprofessional, was snatchy, and overall didn't seem to know how to do her job properly. No wonder my cat didn't like her. I have had zero problems at any other vet or animal care facility with my cat so needless to say it was her and not my animal. Will not be returning and most definitely would not let her touch or animal. Vet techs at the front desk were very polite..only upside to this TERRIBLE vet.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Richards was very thorough in diagnosing my baby. I will definitely recommend bringing your fur baby here.

I made my appointment on time having driven through the pouring rain and having taken time from work and they're not there. Nobody called me to say they were closed because of some untold problem at the office, and the answering service said I had to rebook my appointment. Meanwhile, my cat is still sick. Very unprofessional.

So I bought this “membership “ because supposedly I would be able to take my puppy “whenever “ I wanted however EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to an appointment they NEVER EVER have available appointments!(Even though it be expressed that my puppy is needing to be seen because something could be wrong!!! I’ve paid for 2 months an I have YET to be able to see a doctor!!! Don’t waste your time or money!!! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!

Tried to make an appointment and got told contradictory information by different locations. Plus it always takes nearly a month to get an appointment, which is really not helpful when you have a sick pet. I don't know if the long wait is because of the pandemic, in which case I know they can't do much about it, but having staff who have no idea about their appointment system is not ok.

So disappointed in this clinic. Several months ago I discussed pain medication with the clinic vet for my older dog who has joint pain. I followed up to get the prescription at least twice with no response. I called the clinic yesterday as my dog was in pain and would not even walk. I waited ALL day for a response, even called back 1/2 through the budiness day and never got a call back. Called again this morning and was told I wouldn't hear from a vet for another 24-48 hours. When Thrive first opened in Houston my dog receved excellent care but as the company expanded the care and service as taken a nose dive. I will NEVER use Thrive again nor will I recommend them to anyone.

Save your time & money! I booked an appointment for my dog for his vaccinations and in the descriptions I specified he only needed to be treated for his fleas/ear infection/vaccines. They ended up taking advantage of the whole situation and charged me $94 for the full adult complete care after I requested the $54 adult vaccine package, I’ve never had problems with this location so I’m very disappointed on the up charge & how they handled the situation.

Came to pick up my pet’s medication and the office was closed on Wed 4/21 at 2:53 PM although their door says Open Mon-Sat 8 AM - 6 PM. There’s no sign about being closed for the day and there was no notification via email, text, or phone regarding the closure.
