Attached pics from before he came in and of him on a gurney dead after coming in. Not much to say, took my dog here he died 3 days later. A 4(almost 5) year old healthy dog that went in for “routine booster shots” and for a flea pill that they said would “kill the fleas within 30 mins” guess that should have been a red flag? They were nice enough when they called back 3 hours later but wouldn’t take any responsibility although they did offer a refund on the heart worm preventative since I wouldn’t be able to use it LOL. Changing vets is the only variable that changed in mine and Remi’s life so not 100% but the likelihood is high that it was something that was done here. 10/10 would not recommend unless you don’t love your pet.

This review is regarding the prescription refill process without using Rice Village's pharmacy. We have been taking our kitty here for a few years now and we plan on switching vets. Not sure why, but it has been frustrating to get prescription's refilled here when using a separate pharmacy that is not theirs. Never had issues using our nearby pharmacy until we started going to this vet. We would wait for days without any medicine for our kitty that she needs to take three times a day for pain and self-harm. The staff is great and all, but it just seems like the vet wants you to use their pharmacy. I have checked with our nearby pharmacy and they have all the correct information such as the fax number and other vet information, but for some reason the staff would ALWAYS never receive any request for refills. Our pharmacy has even attempted to call the vet, but was forced to leave a voicemail when no one answered which left us to call the vet personally. We wanted to stay here, but it has been a huge hassle every time we need to have her medication refilled. We want the best for our kitty and not hurt herself when she has no medicine while waiting for days. We stayed because Dr. Rita Jou is an amazing veterinarian. She's super sweet and gentle with our kitty before the pandemic. It has been a pleasure for the vet visits!

What can I say about a place that is staffed with some of the very most caring, professional, knowledgeable, loving people who give their best to each and every animal? They have been the veterinarians to my 18 year old, indoor only, beloved cat Amelia since the day I got her. I would never think of taking her anywhere else! I have such total trust in every member of the staff from administration, to nurses, to the vets! These are people who will treat you and your special animal family member as if you and yours were family. No major corporation behind these doors; just professionals totally dedicated to providing your loved ones with the very best. God bless you all! Amelia is 18 and still doing great due to the excellent care she has received at this wonderful facility! ❤️

My first visit at Rice Village hospital was a 5 star experience, even during a time as such. From booking the appointment (for my 9 week old mini golden doodle) to leaving the appointment...the staff was very friendly, down to earth, knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable leaving my pup in their hands for his first vet visit. As a first time dog owner, they answered all of my questions with ease, reassured me that he was growing appropriately, and provided so much educational material. My Churro was even sad to leave (had his first experience with pb lol). He has found his vet home for sure!

The whole staff is amazing. The first time we took our dog for a general checkup was actually as a walk in. They were very attentive and caring with our shy dog. All areas are very clean and without any strong odors. During our initial visit, they provided a full checkup with medical assessment and even a welcome gift! Summaries of these appointments as well as follow up dates are always in all their receipts. There is an incredible ease in requesting appointments online for pet care and grooming as well as over the phone. They set the bar real high, we are moving and it's been sad to know that we won't be able to follow up with them. It's going to be tough to find a new place like this.

Nicest people around. Every time I call in and tell them my pet's name the receptionists light up in excitement because they remember my cat so well. When I was falling on hard financial times they helped me work out a reasonable payment plan and didn't even pester me when I was a little late. They truly care about animals and people. My cat still doesn't hate going there because everyone just loves on her. Highly recommend!

The curbside service system they have is seamless. The nurse explained everything that would take place before they brought my cat inside. The Veterinarian called me right after and informed me about my cat’s temperament during the visit as well as her current health, updated shots, weight, etc. and recommended a flea control for kitties which I was more than happy to have. 5 stars all the way for Rice Village Animal Hospital. Thank you!

Very bad experience - vet was afraid of my cat and didn’t want to look at him if he wasn’t sedated. Never experienced that before. I’ll go to another place next time for sure.

Very friendly staff that genuinely love the pets they treat and see for checkups. Took the time to answer all of our questions and were very friendly.

Staff was very friendly; however, they did not inform me/collect consent for procedures done to my pet. My 14yo senior, rescue dog was thoroughly traumatized by her visit. Blood was drawn inexplicably from her jugular. I don't understand why it wasn't drawn from her leg or somewhere less dangerous. At least according to Noel, urine was "extracted from her bladder". I was never informed of any urine testing much less a needle to her bladder. That's absurd. I had never heard her growl in the year since we rescued her, and she growled at her mistreatment here. When we got home she cried out in pain throughout the night and was unable to sit or lie down for 20 hours compared to her normal 18-20hrs of sleep a day. We will never return to Rice Village Animal Hospital.

Wow. Totally clueless vet, almost like they pulled some guy off the street. Did not feel like I was getting safe care which for $1700 is ridiculous.

They treat my pup like she's special, and they know all of her likes and tendencies when I come in. When I see them interact with other customers, it seems like they get the same treatment. They do truly love the animals. I think it may be a tad more expensive than some other vet offices, but I believe that I get what I'm paying for.

RVAH is the best practice i have experienced. They not only became our vet on our move to Houston, but they also became my puppy's home away from home with their boarding facilities. My pup loves going to the vets because he gets to spend time with a team that loves and cares for him as much as i do. To be able to leave my boy and not have to worry about him, knowing he is in such good hands is a weight off my shoulders. They're service is truly impeccable and the team are like family to us now. I have and will continue to recommend them to everyone.

When we got our new Boston Terrier puppy, we decided it was time to leave our longtime veterinary clinic. After some research, we decided on Rice Village Animal hospital for our new puppy Jessie. It has been the best decision we could have possibly made for our pet’s health care. From the minute we walked in for our fist visit, we were met with a kind and highly professional staff. We have felt that every member of the staff has taken the time to provide Jessie with personalized care. We just could not be more pleased. Rice Village Animal Hospital is place for exceptional pet healthcare with a professional, kind and compassionate staff. Pam White Adding to this review, I cannot say enough to express my appreciation to the amazing staff of Rice Village Animal Hospital. I just boarded my Boston Terrier, Jessie, for a week. The care and attention she received was beyond my expectations. Thank you to each and every member of the Rice Village Animal Hospital for keeping my Jessie safe and happy while I was away. Our puppy had her cornea scratched when she was in a bush and was very uncomfortable so we took her after setting up an appointment. we waited for more than 1.5 hours before they told us they cannot see us because they are taking care of some emergency case. This place is very expensive too

THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. Do NOT come here if you're a new pet owner, do your research on the internet or with a different vetenarian first--- this practice is not being run in a fair way and the prices they charge are borderline offensive to anyone who knows anything about the sector. If your animal is healthy-- DO NOT COME HERE. If your animal is NOT healthy, I suggest you compare the vets nearby to this one and the treatment plans they recommend--you'll quickly find Rice Village Anim Hospital is charging 100-250% more than your typical vet. You'll find that other veternarians talk to you longer during your appointment and constantly check your understanding; they'll answer your questions more thoroughly and honestly-- a real vet is not looking to rush you out the door because you paid your $70 for the visitation fee. For example, one appointment lasted 4 total minutes with the veternarian, about 15 minutes waiting and the tech walking around the room... If you come into your appointment with knowledge about the answers to your 'questions' you will see what I mean. Simply ask a few questions you know the answer to and see if the vet or staff here answer it honestly. Do they skate around the question and beat around the bush to get you to spend more? Yep... Other animal clinics would let you talk to the veterinarian on the phone for a very reasonable five minutes if you'd just come in for an expensive visit and had a question without paying extra (are you joking me rice village animal hospital?). I suppose I expected that from the West U wealthy area 's vet where you can tell an 65 year old lady and her cat whatever you want because she has no knowledge of biology or other options because they don't know any better and see you've solen the Rice name. I have no issue with most of the people who work here, in fact there's one staff member thats mentioned in many reviews on google and yelp (you can figure out who she is)---my issue is with the administrators and manager, namely the lead one who has no idea what she's doing. Many other vets in Houston are great! This is not one of them. I suggest you look on google for other places. Notice how their reviews on Yelp are much lower and in some cases they have been edited. You'll find the owner or hospital administrator reaches out to people ONLY AFTER they've written them a bad review on the internet...and they're scared it may affect future customers. They will treat you like garbage unless they get called out for it. Let me know if you have any questions about the clinic or need a recommendation for a better vet and I'll give you an honest answer. *UPDATED*: The 'owner' or perhaps terrible manager named Adrienne has responded and said that they have no record of me as a client to try and discredit this review that I've written.. So I guess they want to play that game. I will not be coming back to your establishment and giving you a single penny but I assure you I've been there plenty of times and can give an honest opinion. You have separate waiting areas for cats and dogs, dogs on the left side. They have their own overpriced pharmacy they try and get you to buy from--just go to walgreens or your local petsmart instead. This place is untrustworthy--I'll definitely be letting any of my friends getting a pet know this as well--it's not a good way to start a lifelong journey with your animal being tied to this terribly run business. To be honest why in the world would I write a review this lengthy and long if it were a made up story? This is a terribly managed business with an awful head administrator lady. It's not something I would waste my time to write a review on unless it's something i felt honestly. I've certainly visited your 'clinic' many times and it was an experience i felt the need to tell other Houstonians about--you guys don't belong in this wonderful city scamming the wealthy people in the area by stealing the rice village name. Disgusting clinic management who spreads misinformation for money--they should be ashamed of the way they make money.

Friendly staff and excellent service! I’m very pleased by the way they are very gentle and kind to my pup since she tends to be very timid with strangers. Will definitely be coming here for my dogs care.

RVAH is the vet clinic for our pet Sugar. We take her there for boarding and our other pet care needs. They even remember her by name whenever we walk in, which feels very warm and welcoming! They are very knowledgeable and accomotaing. Our pet is happy and healthy and so are we!

They were incredibly good with my pit and made him feel like a king with the shower of compliments. There were a few misunderstandings and snags but they made more than an extra effort to correct all of it. I would highly recommend anyone to make them their primary care clinic for your fur babies.

We moved to Houston 10 years ago and RVAH has been like family to us. They’ve been with us through a pets death (our first) and I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else. Brandi walked us through the process and while it was one of the saddest days of my life, she and the staff (Dr. Kuo) were so very kind and compassionate. We’ve always been treated like much more than just customers and the fact that another job offer has left us sad about leaving our “family” behind, we’ve never not had top notch care. Dr. Kuo follows up with test results and the staff calls to check up after a day or two of a visit. Please go in for a visit and see for yourself. Working in the medical field myself, it’s always a given that the people who answer the phones are the first ones who give the first impression. You will get a friendly voice who will go above and beyond to help you. Be it Karen, Libby, Brandi, etc (please forgive me the people I forgot) You can’t teach compassion. You either have it or you don’t. My friends here truly love their job and it shows. Thank you for 10 wonderful years! Theron, Marla, Dave & Jack

We have brought our dog to Rice Village Animal Hospital for veterinary care and boarding since we adopted her in June 2017. We have been pleased with the friendly and enthusiastic service. They are motivated by love for the animals and a desire to serve their owners. Recently, Brandi and Anita hosted a "Paw Party" for our apartment community. It was a wonderful time for us and our neighbors. It showed what makes Rice Village Animal Hospital so special.
