I spoke with the vet over the phone she was extremely rude and unpleasant. I called because our bunny had a teeth surgery and now we’re having problems again with the bunny’s teeth. When I was on the phone with the vet, she was extremely rude talking down to me, acting like I was stupid for questioning the surgery and if it was done correctly.

We were bringing a new patient (guinea pig) in for diagnosis. We requested an online appointment and received a response for an appointment almost immediately, and then offered a time to bring in our pet sooner than we'd imagined possible. We arrived at the offices and everyone was so welcoming! The office is immaculate and warm and welcoming, without smelling like a typical vet's office (it did not smell antiseptically, although clearly extremely clean). They have plenty of seating, and easily accessible restroom (that the staff promptly pointed out to me) and coffee! They also have Bibles on the shelves. SO welcoming! The vet tech person was fantastic and did all the preliminaries with me in the room (our prior vet used to take pets to the back - I had no idea what was going on). Then the vet came in and explained everything, all our options, pros and cons, etc. She didn't expect or press us to make a costly decision immediately. She was equally fantastic in every way. Checking out was easy and fast, and I received an e-mail the next morning at 8am asking how our pet was faring after her appointment. Without exception this was the best vet office experience I have ever had for any of our rodents or dog.

Brought my parakeet here that had a limp leg. They did an xray, assesed him and gave him fluids. He ended up with a broken leg, they didn't even put any splint. And for that I had to pay more than $500. With those money I could have bought 25 brand new parakeets, but they know, we are owners, are attached to out pets no matter how much they cost or what their size. I would say to avoid this place unless you really really need to go there and can justify their prices.

We are fortune to have the professional at Texas Avian and Exotic to take care of our rescues. They care and love all our animals so great. I've even walked in with an emergency and they have taken him in and gone to work. They have a difficult job because Exotic require so much more knowledge and equipment. Thank you for being there for The Texas Housewreckers....

Unfortunately our little guy passed away but from the reception area to the doctor everyone was so kind, nice, and understanding. Thank you for your help with our little guy.

Great place to bring your exotic pet. For us it was a pet wallaby that needed surgery.

Took my fur kids (2 Ferrets and a Flemish Giant rabbit) today. Dr. Jones and staff were amazing with my babies. Very thorough and answered all of my questions. I will absolutely recommend this vet to everyone!

I was worried about taking my parakeet Buddy to a vet for a nail trim because of previously having another parakeet die of anxiety at a different bird vet. This was a wonderful experience. Dr. Sydney Jones and vet tech Shelby were incredibly gentle and knowledgeable about parakeets and had Buddy relaxed and comfortable as they examined him and did the trim. Dr. Jones did a well-bird exam and asked good questions and gave good advice. Their love of birds was sincere. I can't recommend them highly enough. Take your bird to them! Thank you, Dr. Jones and Shelby!

This review is only based on a phone call, as I was unable to book an appointment because the vet who specializes in Birds was out of town... the soonest appointment was one month out -which is ridiculous when you have an injured bird you're trying to get seen... the vet tech actually asked me how to spell "guinea" fowl...odd for a vet service whose expertise is Avian in nature...

Dr Jones and her staff are great! I am new to owning a bird and she was very informative. They go over your charges before they do any procedures and help you make informed decisions. My quaker and I will only be using them in the future.

I called with concerns of one lifeless limb on my baby Savannah monitor! Megan spoke to me on the phone, got me in quickly (even though I was a new patient) Dr. Antinoff diagnosed a broken arm and splinted him for us. We were on our way home in no time! I can’t recommend enough!!

We were fortunate enough to find care for our feathered family here. The care is truly top notch expertise, loving and professional. After we moved to Houston metro, we still drive the three hours one way to take them in for anything significant. I don't have any pictures of the office but here are two of our feathered kids that get their excellent care here. The little guy, conure, just had surgery for a significant injury and he is doing great thanks to their care. We wouldn't have entrusted that serious medical work to anyone else.

They took good care of my 3.5 month old bearded dragon. Staff is friendly and Dr. Ratliff gave me a lot of helpful info. They didn't try to sell me any extra stuff.

Our precious bunny died in their care. They did not even try to give him antibiotics that we very kindly asked to do from the very early morning, when I brought him at 7.50 am. His right ear showed symptoms of an ear infection. We asked for antibiotics knowing that he had history of an ear infection in past. They had his medical records that showed the history and the antibiotics worked before. Instead they gave him sedation that I never authorized. They shouted at me and at my daughter over the phone. They reasoned that I need to pay $1200 down payment first, before they do any treatment including the antibiotics that we begged to give him. I readily made the payment. I don't know what they did to him, but 4 hours later after I gave our precious fragile bunny to them they called me that his heart stopped. Should that be due to the sedative that I did not authorize to give, or anything else they did to him, but in the almost $500 “treatment” final bill it did not show that the ear infection was treated at all, nor was given very much needed antibiotics. They also charged an ER fee of $150 versus to regular visit of $105, but no emergency care was provided. It was an extremely traumatic experience for my daughters and I. The only nice lady to us there was Nikki.

This was during covid so take this with a grain of salt. That being said their communication was great. I called when I arrived, they came and got my bird while I stayed in the car. They called whenever they had updates and sent me my bill through Gmail. Great system

We took our bunny there for a check up and to have nails cut. Those services were reasonable priced! We had Great service! I would love to get our bunny spayed but it was quite expensive! Saving our pennies to hopefully do this one day!

Dr. Lauren Thielen is quite possibly the least "professional" medical professional that I've ever had the displeasure of sending my pet to. Due to the pandemic, I've never actually spoken to her in person. It's quite possible that she's a great person and just terrible at electronic communication. However, I'd be a lot more forgiving if she were more accepting of her faults rather than blaming the patients' owners. When we picked up our pet from the clinic, we were given some medicine and a piece of paper that told us to give our pet the medicine for 10 days and to schedule a follow up if there wasn't an improvement in 7-10 days. It also said that they'd "call [us] with testing results before then." Turns out, Dr. Thielen refuses to use phones and will only communicate through email. We were informed a week after our appointment that we needed to request a refill through email and did not receive a phone call as noted in the document were given. Since we weren't expecting an email, we didn't know she sent one. Five days after she sent her email, we saw that our bird needed a refill and a follow-up appointment and that it was past due to get the refill. After expressing our concerns about using email as the primary form of communication, the expenses of another appointment, and why we were not informed about the additional appointment or refill at our last appointment, she told us that she was upset and frustrated with us. I asked to be communicated through the phone but all I got was a call from the receptionist reminding me to check my emails. The emails that the vet sent were unprofessional and passive-aggressive, and she clearly expressed frustration with me as her client. I am appalled that a medical professional would treat their patient's owner like this. Do not ever come to this vet if you want to be respected and if you want your pet to be cared for. A proper vet clinic would follow up with their clients when they do not respond to communication especially in regards to medications that need immediate re-fills. We will not be coming here again, but we recommend that this clinic re-evaluates its communication policies with clients, keeps the clients informed more about their pet's care from their initial appointment, and acts professionally. No professional providing care should ever express frustration with their customers, clients, or patients. If you cannot express care through communication with your clients, then I cannot expect that you can provide adequate care for my pets.
