I needed an x-ray of my pregnant dog to see how many pups she was having. She was so scared and apprehensive. The staff was amazing and so patient with her. The doc was spot on. She had 12 pups total. I am so grateful to them.

Been bringing my fur baby here for 12 years

We use VCA Elgin Family Pet Center for our GSP Cocoa, and two tabby cats, Spice and Frappe. I have always found the office staff very helpful and professional, the vets very concerned about our fur babies health, and very competent in addressing the various health concerns! I live 11 miles away from this office but I am willing to pass other vet offices to come here!

My wife and I had been looking for a good veterinarian clinic since we moved to Austin in 2020. Our fur babies are beloved family members, so we do everything that we can to make sure they get excellent care. We read the reviews for VCA Elgin Family Pet Center, and we decided to try their services based on the good reviews. One of our schnauzers ended up with a severe ear infection before we could schedule an initial appointment. We called the office on a Saturday morning, and Desiree was able to get us an appointment that day when we told her that Kozmo was in a lot of pain. We took him in and were simply amazed with the staff. We arrived before the time of our appointment, but we didn't have to wait to get Kozmo seen. Shanna came and got us and took us to an examination room. She was extremely gentle and very loving in her care and examination of Kozmo. At one point, she had to take Kozmo to a treatment room, and her treatment of Kozmo was exceptional. After giving Kozmo an ear cleaning and taking samples for testing, Shanna brought Kozmo back to the examination room. Dr. Abbot came in shortly after that to consult with us regarding Kozmo's condition and discuss his lab results. She was very thorough in her explanation of Kozmo's condition and the instructions for his treatment and medication regimen once we took him home. She compounded a medication for Kozmo, and she gave us an explanation of what it was and how it worked. The entire time she was explaining everything to us, she was loving on and comforting Kozmo. Shanna returned to the room to review our invoice, and she explained each item and charge. The charges for the care and medication were very fair and extremely affordable. I've never seen such excellent and affordable pricing for such amazing care. It was quite obvious that Dr. Abbot, Shanna, Desiree, and the entire staff at VCA Elgin Family Pet Center truly love their jobs and care about their patients and their owners. Having been a lifelong dog owner, I've been to countless veterinarian clinics, and I have never been to a better clinic with such an exceptional and compassionate staff. Kudos to their team, and our heartfelt gratitude for their loving care of our pet. We will be lifelong clients. I cannot recommend VCA Elgin Family Pet Center more. They are simply the best!

A great vet. My indoor/outdoor manx kitty was attacked, presumably by a dog, and they got him in when tons of other vets wouldn't, including my usual vet. We actually waited for 6 hours (!!) in our car trying to be seen at an Austin Emergency vet clinic before giving up and finding this place. They were attentive, caring, and affordable. They have a big, clean office. Covid protocols were definitely in place but I was actually able to come inside with my cat while they took his vitals and waited to be seen by the vet, which I really appreciated because it allowed him to be less stressed and gave me the opportunity to fill them in regarding his past health issues. 5 stars!

I have used several vet clinics in my life with my animals and i have to say that this place is the easiest place to go. They don't make you feel bad because you cannot afford to spend $500. They do what they can for your animal, within the budget you can afford to spend. While I would be willing to pay ANY amount to save my EXTREMELY precious and LOVED animals, sometimes it is not in my power. Thank you for always seeing my babies (animals), even on sudden and short notice. Thank you Elgin Vet Staff, for always helping us keep our babies (animals) healthy and alive. Also, thank you for helping us to say goodbye to past cherished babies (animals) when it was their time.

They were super nice, squeezed us in and gave us the tools to get my Vivica's ear infection under control! They were friendly, knowledgeable and my dog was comfortable with them!!

They had me bring my dog in right away because he had eye problems. They took us back immediately and examined him and he had ulcers on both eyes. They were quick on treating him and very friendly. I appreciate everything they did. I definitely recommend this vet to everybody. Thank you!!

Best staff and care! Had previously brought in one of my dogs that was hit by a car. Knocked him out and the only thing moving was his little eyelashes. Thought they were going to have to put him down. Ten minutes later the Dr returns to the exam room with my little man dazed and confused but wagging his tail like it's just another day! Miracle worker!

Recently we had to put one of our cats too sleep due to a serious illness. From the moment we stepped through the door we could tell the staff cared just as much as we did for our pets. They made sure we knew all of the possible options and gave us our time to make our decision. A few days after having to put her to sleep we received a hand written letter from Dr.Meola and the vet techs. We have since taken our other pets in for routine exams and blood work to make sure that nothing goes unnoticed or missed. I could honestly not say enough good things about this office and their staff.

They were very friendly scanning for microchips in the dogs I rescued yesterday. Gave me advice on medical condition and encouraged me with ways to look for owners.

I am absolutely in love with this vet. I would go way out of my just take my pup here. They really stepped up to deal with covid-19 restrictions. My pup needed to have teeth pulled and I was so worried. They put me at ease during her procedure and really helped calm my nerves by keeping in touch and sending me updates until she was ready. All the staff commented on how sweet my pup is which made me such a proud dog mom. I wouldn't take her any where else! The staff here are so sweet and so helpful. They are also very accommodating.

Two different times I've called in refills, and was told I would be called when it would be ready for pick up. No one calls me back....

They are friendly and helpful

Do not sign up for the monthly plan!! It just means that they won't see you. They'll book you weeks in advance hoping that your pet's problem will go away on its own while they still get your monthly fees. We called in and were told to come by at 2pm for a 'walk in" appointment. After waiting half an hour in the parking lot we called in to see if we'd be in soon, explaining that as business owners we couldn't wait all afternoon. We were asked to come in and shown to an exam room. There we waited again for half an hour until I started getting angry texts from staff and clients and we had to leave. Two hours wasted, (including drive time,) and all we needed was five minutes with a Vet to see about our dog's itchy skin!! DO NOT buy the monthly plan, it will be a waste of your money. They were able to see us right away when we were new clients and paying cash!

Great vet and are great with our fur babies

We just moved away from the Elgin area and will miss taking our dog and 2 cats to see the amazing, attentive, and compassionate staff at VCA Elgin. Dr. Metcalf is patient and has great bedside manner with animals and their human family. Fran at the front office is incredibly attentive, solutions-oriented, and always takes extra care to make sure you and your pets are well taken care of. We hope we can find good vet care for our pets in our new town, but VCA Elgin has set the bar so high it will be difficult to find personnel as professional and attentive as they have been with out pets the past 2.5 years. Thank you, VCA Elgin staff! <3

Everyone was pleasant to be around they took great interest in our pets and told us up front what care they needed today and what could wait for later thanks.

A special shout out to Shanna at VCA Elgin. We took our sick cat in for treatment and appreciated her kindness and compassion. Everyone there is friendly, and I appreciate the professional care she receives from the vets.
