I have been taking my Vizsla to Paula for 5 years, ever since he was a puppy. He loves it there and Paula is wonderful. She trained him as a pup to sit, stay, come on command, wait to enter and leave the house, most importantly for me was to heel when on a leash and she really set up him to be a well trained dog!

Paula is fantastic. She is a great teacher and has helped my lab Mousse be a well- mannered part of the family. She loves the dogs and they love her. Mousse still goes for dog daycare and occasional boarding and gets all excited when he realizes where he is going. I highly recommend her for training and daycare/boarding

We're heartbroken. Even though we provided food as requested, our dogs were fed other food and contracted a disease while being boarded. We should have known something was wrong when our older dog was carried out when we picked them up but the owner said nothing. Both our dogs had terrible diarrhea. It took 6 days for our younger dog to recover after repeated doses of Imodium, Pepto Bismal, and a chicken/rice diet (as prescribed by vet). Our older dog did not do so well. He has spent the last 3 days at the vet on IVs and will probably die this weekend. They had been boarded other places before without incident. They had also just had their 6 month check up and were in excellent health. We're devastated.

Paula's Canine Academy is the best place we have ever boarded our dog. He loves being able to run and play all day! We never worry about him when he is with Paula, and know he is getting excellent care while he is there. We also had our dog trained by Paula, and I would highly recommend the training program. We sent him as an unruly pup who would bolt and run whenever he had the chance, and two weeks later he came home a well-trained, responsive, and loving little dog.

We've had a great experience with Paula! Her and her husband remember us and our dogs by name, and we can leave our dogs with them confident that they will receive exceptional care. We've used both the boarding and daycare services and our two dogs are always excited to be dropped off and nice and tired when we pick them up. Can't recommend enough!

I brought my 2 dogs during the Christmas Holidays. Both dogs clearly had a blast playing all day long with others. It was great to see they weren’t cooped up and instead they likely had way more fun then spending the holidays with me! Lol. I will be bringing my dogs back again whenever I need to leave town

Every dog that I have ever had goes on vacation to Paula's when I go out of town and loves it...Paula loves dogs and it shows.

We have been using Paula since 2014 and she is hands down the best. We have trusted her with our 4 dogs, 2 of them being senior dogs. We have never had any issues or doubt about the care she provides for them. The dogs love it there and they love getting to play and interact with the other dogs. We can travel peacefully knowing that they are in a safe/secure environment with someone who is caring towards animals and knowledgeable. We have occasionally checked in with her and she always texts back and even provides pictures of the dogs. We are so thankful for her and will always use her for our fur babies.

We took our dog in to board her for about 10 days. Pros were that it was a reasonable price, Paula was really easy to work with, and the dogs have a yard to play in instead of being cooped up in kennels. The biggest problem I had was that my dog gained quite a bit of weight while she was there. I brought her food and left instructions for how much to feed her, but she still gained a significant amount of weight. She was a little dirty and had some scabs on her elbows too, but that was probably just from playing outside so much (she’s an indoor dog generally). I also wish I had met Paula in person, but I met her husband and he was very helpful.

If your rude to people your probly not going to be very kind to my animals... Never callls back, Supper rude over the phone ,before I could say hello. Got hung up on after letting her know my dogs breed. I understand pit bulls are not for everyone but she could have handled it with some actual grace. Wouldn’t recommend to a friend. Just remember, Its cheap for a reason.

I have known Paula for 23 years! She is by far the best. She is where I have my own roots of dog and horse experience from. She was a show breeder and handler long ago with her shelties, and when I was a young girl she taught me how to train my own dog during obedience school. She has the biggest heart and truely loves animals. I trust no other individual but Paula to watch my own dogs and I highly recommend her for my own petsitting clients! I have always loved her training philosophy, her knowledge, her handling, and both her facilities once in Hickory Creek and now Denton. She has the best ideal set up for boarding our furkids!

She trained our dog Harvey. Let me tell you at first Harvey was a tornado! we love him but things had to change. After spending 2 weeks with Paula he's such an obedient pup! When we saw him and all the things he learned we just couldn't believe it! now we're able to take him with us when we go out. We are sooo happy we went to her. She is amazing at what she does!

Paula genuinely loves dogs. The Academy is perfect for my pup who loves to run around with others in his weight range. Yes, there is a small dog area and a large dog area at this dog park-like boarding place. But there are also covered and climate controlled structures for those hot and very cold/rainy days. Paul's is very affordable, and the pick-up/drop off times make sense. I sometimes take my dog here for the weekend even when I'm in town so he can play with friends and get tired out. Highly recommended! I tell all my friends.

Every time we travel we make the 25 mile drive to leave our sweet Lola with Paula. We know that she is in good hands. She's been going there since 2014 and we have only good things to say about Paula's Canine Academy.

Paula has been training and boarding our dogs for 10+ years. My friends and family have also used her and are very pleased. If you want a safe, loving place for your dogs to play while you are away (or just for a day while you run errands) this is it! It is like taking them to grandma;s while you go on vacation. They run and play and have fun. Not locked up. They come home and sleep really good. The training is Exceptional. She trains your dog and trains you..she consults with you. Paula cares about your family pet. I have to spell her name around my Slinky or he'll run to the door or the car and wait to go. I travel quite a bit - it is a joy to my heart knowing my Slinky is having fun and being cared for. He can go in and out of a climate controlled building, lay in the sun and play with the other dogs. He doesn't play with other dogs at home - When he is at Paula's he is Mr. Social!

I've been driving over 30 miles to take my pups to Paula's for over 4 years now. What I love is that the dogs have each other for companions and we aren't nickeked and dimed for each petting session, etc. She has these large corrals where the "kiddos" (aka dogs) are sorted by their temperament and size. They have swimming pools when it's hot. And warm cozy areas when it's not. Once they eat in the morning they are allowed to play all day with each other in their corral. They have so much fun and relax to just doing what dogs do. My "kiddos" are always so excited to go to Paula's and they are worn out from playing when I pick them up! That makes it so easy for me when just returning home from a trip. Additionally, Paula's offers first class obedience training. Her two week Boot Camp will render a well behaved dog out of even the most challenging canine. Be aware they stay with her for that entire time period and it's not cheap but so worth it. However, Paula's pricing is far better than anything else in the area both for training and boarding. Both of my dogs have been through her course. Training greatly increased the confidence of my anxiety prone rescue and now he's the best behaved dog. Amazing what confidence can do for them. Her nightly boarding rate is only $20 per pet! Where can you get pricing like that with so much fun for your dog in the entire metroplex?

Dogs are very special to me. I had a dog for 12 years before I had kids, I can tell you, I treated them all equally. Paula understands dogs, she loves dogs, and the only one I trust with our four legged baby. She trains dogs, and IT WORKS. She is amazing. I only wish she would take our two legged ones.

Paula is the most caring and kind person I know. Not only has she trained many of our dogs, but she has also puppy-sat for us on many occasions. Every dog there appears to be happy, and very safe. I wouldn't trust anyone more than her to care for my kids (aka dogs). I am so glad to have met her, and recommend her to everyone I know!!!!

Long story short: Our dog was attacked in Summer 2013 while at Paula's Canine Academy and DIED from her injuries the day I picked her up. I was NEVER notified that anything had happened until I came to pick my dog up. Paula made the executive decision to "treat" our dog's injuries herself with no veterinary care whatsoever and without notifying me. She had our phone number, and we were in town -- just getting renovations done on our home -- so we would have immediately come to get our dog. The emergency vet we took her to that night said she died because the injuries were not properly treated sooner. She otherwise would have lived. This is our full story ... In 2013, Lucy was staying at Paula's Canine Academy while we had work done on our home. Around the 2nd or 3rd day of her stay, she was attacked by another dog in the presence of the facility owner. I was not notified, and she was not taken to a vet. Her wounds became infected, and many days later when the facility owner noticed this, she again did not call me or take Lucy to a vet, but instead took it upon herself to administer antibiotics to Lucy. Paula is not a physician or a veterinarian and had no idea what Lucy needed for her injuries. She cannot legally administer medicine without a license, but that didn't stop her. When I picked Lucy up 9 days later, I was only then told what had happened. Lucy was acting strangely and started wailing and drooling when we got her home. We rushed her to the Denton Animal ER right away, as she was becoming limp in my arms. She had become septic, her blood sugar was too low to even read, she had lost a tremendous amount of weight, and she was severely dehydrated – all according to her medical records from the ER. They worked for 6 hours to save her life, including intubating her, putting her on a ventilator and reviving her after she went into cardiac arrest 3 times. In the end, she succumbed to the infection, which had swollen her brain and was shutting her kidneys down. She had no pre-existing conditions, and was a perfectly healthy, normal dog. Both the ER vet and our regular vet are completely appalled at the behavior of the boarding facility and encouraged me to pursue this case so that this never happens again. This boarding facility’s negligence occurred over and over again during my dogs’ stay – and Lucy paid the ultimate price. I was not told one time during her stay what was happening, and Lucy was never taken to a vet. The ER doctor told us that, if we had picked up Lucy a day later, she would have already been dead. Not only did this facility's gross negligence result in our dog being taken from our family, but they took away our opportunity to even make the decision for Lucy to see a vet, by the fact that they never called once to let us know what was happening. BEWARE of Paula’s Canine Academy and any place like it where your dog is allowed to interact with other dogs. It is more "fun and outdoorsy," but they are just not safe. What makes matters worse is that our other dog, Stella, was also attacked and had multiple puncture wounds all over her face and body, but the boarding facility never even noticed and had no idea about her injuries when they gave her back to me. Thankfully, Stella is going to be OK because her wounds did not become infected and she has now received proper veterinary care. If her wounds had also become infected, I would now have 2 dead dogs because I was never notified of Stella’s injuries and she was never given any medical care. It is my hope that this will never happen to anyone else. The pain of losing a dog in this way is unimaginable. It is truly a dog owner’s worst nightmare when they board their pet, and it could have easily been prevented.

Horrible! Boarded my puppy for 4 days. Everything seemed fine when we left her. When we got there to pick her up, it was as if she was a different dog. She seemed "off". She slept the entire ride home. She was throwing up and dry heaving every 15 minutes that night and the next day. After which she developed a cough. It was as if she did not sleep and was exposed to bad conditions. It is cheap because they group the dogs together. Not so cheap when your dog has to go to the vet afterward for $325. The vet seemed puzzled when we said that she puts all the dogs food together for them to eat. Not going back. Found another place where she gets her own indoor/outdoor room for not much more. Should have known better, rookie mistake.

My two dogs have been at Paula’s more than they have been home lately. When I tell them we are going to Paula’s they run to the door after putting their heads in their collars. They start getting excited as we near her house. They can’t wait to get out of the car and run to the door. I love to think of them playing and having a good time while I am traveling for days or weeks, in meetings or shopping . We take them anytime we are going to be away for more than 4 hours so that they can play. Paula takes good care of them and sends pictures or posts them on Facebook. They are always happy when I come to pick them up. We are so blessed to have Paula in our lives for the past 7 or 8 years. She has been a friend and a great person who volunteers in the community and loves our babies while in her care. Paula has obedience trained two of our dogs. I love this because she is so good to them while training. My little guy comes, stays, sits, heals… I tell him no bark and he stops. My sister had two out of control Jack Russell Terriers – Paula trained them and they were the best mannered dogs.

If you are looking for a wonderful place in North Texas to board your dog during the day or for overnight stays, consider Paula's Canine Academy, which I believe is THE best dog boarding facility in North Texas. My dogs stay at Paula's on a regular basis and have a ball! I have boarded at many other area facilities, and without a doubt, this one is mine (and their) favorite because they are free to roam with the other dogs all day within the confines of large play areas. The rates are very reasonable, and I can leave my pets there without worry. it's a big dog party all the time! Dogs are Paula's passion, and she is good to her clients. She lives on site and is an experienced dog trainer. Her staff are professional and keep the property spic and span. My dogs come back home happy and pooped from all the exercise they get while they are there. It's great socialization for them and much healthier for them to be in this environment, rather than locked up in a cage or in a dog run. It goes without saying that dogs are required to be up-to-date on shots, including the bordetella vaccination, and must be neutered or spayed. While I have never seen a single flea on any of my pets when I have picked them up, I would highly suggest making sure your dog is given a flea treatment prior to boarding, just to ensure that ALL dogs are safe. Paula's Canine Academy is a remarkable place. I can't recommend highly enough.
