Dr. Manny Yzaguirre provided exceptional care to my new rescue dog, Beau, who was diagnosed with an intestinal parasite that is difficult to treat. The first (very young) vet that Beau saw wasn't knowledgeable about this condition, but Dr. Yzaguirre, who has over 30 years of experience, knew exactly what to do. Beau is finally recovering much to my relief. VCA Lakewood is definitely my go-to vet! I highly recommend.

Dr. Kirkpatrick is great! I always feel better knowing Melody will be in good hands with him and the staff whenever she needs to come in for a visit. :)

I couldn't have had a better experience here! It was my first time bringing my new cat to be checked over, and I was nervous, but the staff and Dr. Kirkpatrick were very nice! They answered all of my questions in a really caring and helpful way, and it went really smoothly (and quickly). I would recommend this place to anyone needing a good vet!

Dr.Kirkpatrick was very reliable! I called with my cat in an emergency/panic state. He did everything to work me into his already busy schedule. He even followed up with me the next day to make sure my cat was on the up and up! Was very pleased with him and his staffs service. My cat was actually more calm than usual in his clinic as well. Picture of him as a happy guy.

I'm a big fan of VCA clinics, but this is by far the worst one. Don't be surprised if you wait 30-45 minutes before seeing a vet, which happened repeatedly. They have zero regard for anyone's time and don't communicate wait times to clients. So if you make an appointment for 3pm, you probably won't see anyone until closer to 4pm. You'd be better served finding somewhere else.

I could not speak more highly about this vets office! The staff that sits up front is wonderful, the vet tech was so knowledgeable, and the vet was amazing! They all took their time with me, they didn’t rush me and answered all of my questions! I originally came here because it was a free exam for my cat when it was adopted, I had bad experiences at another VCA clinic before, so I wasn’t expecting much from them. They have completely changed my mind and they will be my primary vet from now on, for all of my animals!

Not my favorite vet experience. Costs are on the higher end for basic services like check ups and vaccinations. We typically purchase flea/worm meds through Chewy since online the same medications are about $30 cheaper. However, when we need a refill it's always a hassle getting the prescription approved by VCA. Haven't had a vet that's requested us to come in as much as VCA. Especially for preventative meds like flea/worm. When we questioned why our pet has to come in so frequently the staff member talked to us like we were idiots and laughed. Will be taking my pups elsewhere from now on.

Good safety protocols in place during covid19. They've been very detailed when laying out care options for my aging cats.

We love Dr. Konnor and the team at VCA. They care for our dogs like their own and have gone above and beyond on multiple occasions. They are so amazing we are willing to drive all the way up from Waxahachie!

Thank you for your help during this difficult time for me. That previous sentence was the review that I had given for VCA Lakewood animal hospital two years ago. I cannot put into words the heartache and grief that I was experiencing then. My girlfriend of seven and a half years had just taken her own life. It was totally unexpected and I was so stricken with shock that I had to be taken in for observation for 24 hours. I didn't believe I could live with what had happened. I was not allowed to go back to our apartment at first by police because of investigation and next by some of her family. I could not place our youngest kitten and I was homeless at that point. I carried out kitten (Milla) in my coat for three days as it was January and cold. I took Milla to VCA Lakewood and explained what happened and asked if the could help me place her. The staff there labored for hours to no avail. Just prior to their opening the next day, tremendously heartbroken, I placed Milla in a warm secure area of the hospital and called from across the street and relayed that I was very sorry and that I believed that they could help Milla much moreso than I possibly could. They relayed to me that they understood. It was about a year later that I called VCA and they remembered the incident and said Milla an a great home and that she was doing great. Here it is over two and a half years later and I still miss my beautiful Tricia and little Milla. VCA Lakewood animal will always have a very special place in my life.

I just took my adopted dog Tonka here because of an emergency and they were quick to fit him in today despite having been booked all day today. The nurse who came and got him was extremely friendly and very gentle with him! She explained how to take his medication and was so professional. I will definitely come back here routinely because of how kind and responsive this office was.

Amazing staff that truly cares about their patients. It isn't the cheapest place around but VCA is great and this location is especially great. Dr. K. and Dr. Yzaguirre are the best!

I cannot say enough good things about this place and the people who work here. I was referred to VCA Lakewood by a friend after I adopted my first dog, Frito, from a local shelter. In addition to being an anxious first-time dog mom, we found out Frito isn't a fan of physical exams. Dr. K was so incredibly patient with him and took the time to earn Frito's trust (as much as was possible for someone who has to give him shots). Dr. K was also patient with me and all my questions. He would even follow up with me after our appointments to see how Frito was doing and ask if I had any more questions or concerns. I remember one time Frito was being especially difficult and had to go under anesthesia for a minor procedure and I was such a wreck about it and the fact that I would have to leave him there for a few hours. Within 15 minutes of me leaving, Dr. K called me to let me know Frito was doing well, the procedure went smoothly and he would be looking after him as Frito woke up. It was such a relief. and the costs for everything was more than reasonable! They always made sure I understood the costs upfront and any options that were available before moving forward with any action.

My wife brought her cat here because the cat walked "funny". We attributed this to the cat being old and now having to adjust to walking on hardwood flooring. The cat really didn't show much signs of pain or illness that we could truly notice at home. The vet immediately noticed what East Lake Veterinary Hospital refused to notice or address. A claw in the front right paw was never trimmed or taken care of when we last took her to East Lake Veterinary Hospital for grooming. The claw grew so long it curved and grew into the cats paw. The staff quickly took care of the issue. The staff showed genuine concern and care from the very beginning. I've used VCA in the past a few times. I always receive friendly and caring service. I have no issues taking my animals here.

My cat Pixy had her duclaw almost going into her skin because the the groomer I took her to at Eastlake Vet didn't trim all her claws only to get a call saying my cat had one of claws curved under going into her skin and puncturing her paw to where it got infected do to the lack of observation from the groomer at Eastlake Vet. VCA took such good care of Pixy taking care of her infected paw and trimming her nail back so she was not in pain any more. They gave my cat the care that she needed and instructions for me to help her at no charge. They definitely took care of not only my cat but me to fix the negligence of another groomer at another vet with compassion and empathy. I love VCA and highly recommend them.

Drs. were very genuine and seemed to really care for the well being of my cats. They allowed me to bring them in on a moment's notice due to the severity of their condition. They also gave me several options to be able to treat my babies within my budget.

Amazing experience getting my pets updated on their shots. I made the appointment with a client rep who clearly loves his job and was quickly worked in with Dr. Kirkpatrick. The whole hospital was sparkling clean and organized and welcoming. My dogs loved our friendly tech Kelly and were wagging their whole bodies after returning to the exam room from blood draws and all their shots! The doctor was not afraid to get down on the floor and get face to face with my dog who is notorious for open mouth kisses and profusely sheds his hair when excited. My babies got compliments galore from all the staff and we will definitely come back to Lakewood Animal Hospital.

Friendly staff, easy to make an appointment and reasonable prices. They seem to be very well organized and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes and they genuinely seem to care about their job and your animals.

VCA is higher than a giraffe's butt, HOWEVER this location is awesome. Can't say enough about the staff they really do care about your animals well being. Other than much higher costs they are great. They tried to sell me a 5lb of dog food for 45 dollars lol. I'm sure corporate pressures the vets there to do that sort of thing but the staff really is great.

A huge shoutout to the team and Dr. Yzaguirre in particular. I travel internationally with my dog and I have yet to meet a vet who is as knowledgeable and understanding and committed as Dr. Yzaguirre about dealing with USDA and foreign nations’ requirements. He will take care of business with attention to detail and OF COURSE with my baby’s best interest at heart. Thank you so much for everything and I can highly recommend this amazing team.
