Love Ruffit Uptown on McKinney. Please see Pamela Holloway - she takes care of Ava - I believe she does a wonderful job

This place is horrible. My pups first grooming / bath. When my husband dropped pup off here in the morning, they said they will call in before grooming him. They just decide to groom him however they wish to and called us at 1:40 pm to pick him up. So unprofessional. Please don’t bring your pups here. They are irresponsible and just have a bad attitude.

I asked if I could pick my dog up from the groomer by 3. After dropping her off at 7 am. I came at 3:10p and I walked in to the groomer yelling at my dog.

Have been taking my dog here for four years and have had mostly good experience with the staff and my dog always seemed to love it - whether boarding or just doing day play. However, they considerably raised their prices a number of months back and now costing $57 for an overnight stay. Unfortunately, we won’t be back. Too many other places out there that offer the same services or even more, for much less.

I have had multiple negative experiences at this company. I originally wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but realize it is all rooted in poor management. My most recent experience included a very poor grooming service which caused me to return my dog to the location for the grooming to be done properly. When I spoke to the manager Kira to calmly express my dissatisfaction she repeated that I would need to pay for the cut as if I hadn’t already, or as if I would be charged twice. I told her this was fine and realized a few minutes in she was attempting to make me upset or cause me to react emotionally so I would just leave. (My experience with Kira and the groomer made it clear that they both wanted to get through their Friday and go home as soon as possible) Realizing her poor attempt at aggravating an already disappointing service experience, I smiled and explained that I was not willing to double pay for a service that her company offered and was unable to provide, but had no issue paying for the original service I paid for. She repeatedly tried to tell me I wasn’t charged (which I was) and even brought out the groomer who did the terrible job to further explain. The two then tried to convince me that in the seven years I’ve owned my dog, I should be made aware that dogs coats can’t be cut even. This was news to me since one could imagine how many times my shihtzu has been groomed during his life. At a certain point I had to wonder if Kira expected me to become belligerent because I am a black woman. There was even a point when she spouted such nonsense that I simply stared at her smiling, wondering how such an incompetent employee could have risen to management without the ability to diffuse situations and satisfy customers unhappy with the service Ruffit provides. Nonetheless I will never know the answer. I initially requested the cut be done up to par, but based off of my interaction with management and the groomer, feared for the safety of my best friend under their watch and requested he be returned to me. I was told Kira returned the charge she claimed never existed and I will be driving PetSmart going forward for all grooming. Ruffit is only a block away from my home in Uptown, however PetSmart provided exceptional, organized service throughout the pandemic and although they are a large chain, prove to have more competent employees than those working at Ruffit. Not to mention the grooming service done by PetSmart was exceptionally better than that of employees under Kira’s management.

I started taking my two dogs here, and I have nothing, but a great experience. Staff welcomes you when you walk in, they make sure records are updated and correct. The handlers play and show affection to my dogs. When I call to check on my two, they let me know if there's any problems, but also they let me know when I pick up. Mine come home tired out and very happy!

I have been going ruffit for years and always loved it and my dog loves it. However, they went up on their prices significantly and i didn't know until i picked my dog up. Almost doubled in price making it less likley for me to continue to take my dog to dayplay as much as i used it. My pup is going to be sad :(

Don't bring big dogs here, they just don't seem to know how to handle them. I got my dog back and he acted like he hadn't seen the light of day in years!

Elvis was boarded for 4 days with grooming. Deleted a star because he came home filthy. He seemed happy enough, but super worn out. Slept alot for a couple of days. Hopefully because he had fun. First time he ever did free play, so got him 2 sessions (1st try free). They said he was overwhelmed at first (understandable), but adjusted quickly. Will try again and judge by his reaction to returning. When he started not wanting to go to place he had been going to for years after staff kept changing, knew it was time to change.

AWFUL SERVICE!! Waited over 20 minutes for my dog to be brought from the back. 5-7 people came in after and had their dogs first. Will continue to use the vet side but never grooming or boarding

Everytime I've taken my dogs here, the staff have been unprofessional and the waiting area is dirty. Groomers have taken my dogs back while scrolling on their cell phones without looking up. They took 8 hours to do a simple bath and brushing and literally CLOSED for 3 hrs and left without telling me that my dog was ready for pick up.

Have been boarding multiple dogs at this location, multiple times a year, for over 10 years. Dogs have been of varrying personalities, from the quiet old man to hyper fetcher to one with serious separation anxiety. Have never had an issue! When I lived closer would also drop them off for day play a couple times a week.

UPDATE - The manager called me after reading my review and I feel like this warrants an extra star. He said he was fairly new and is trying to make positive changes to the daycare. I took my dog here for a period of time. It was good at first but I noticed a decline in the care. He started to come back covered in urine which I passed off as him rolling around whilst playing. Then when I picked him up a few times he was really thirsty, one time he drank 3 bowls of water when I brought him home. I started to notice there was a correlation between poor care and a certain staff member that worked those day. One day that staff member told me that my dog had "actually" been good that day, I never took him back after that. I don't know why they would hire people that don't like dogs and put them in positions to abuse them. Started taking him to Abbie's Doghouse which is a million times better.

Oh man. There are too many good places in Dallas to take your dog here. We used to take our dog here to get bathed. They couldn’t even get that right. Just do yourself and your pet a favor and go elsewhere.

I haven’t boarded my dog here but I feel compelled to suggest the Ruffit on Oak Lawn over this location. Our Dog loves day play at the oak lawn location and it seems to be run by higher quality staff. The Uptown location has too many reports of urine soaked dogs and eye injuries. I was reading reviews and decided against grooming or day play at this location. It’s not worth my Dogs mental and physical health. I hope the managers at this location look into who is abusing or what is happening and fix this problem.

I left my dog to be boarded for two nights . When I picked her up. Her face , tip of her head and whole front side smelled like pee. I was told since she wasn’t fixed yet they would keep her separate from other dogs . When they handed her to me she was shaking ! I’ve never seen her shake like that ! She loves people and puppies ! She is usually very excited to see anyone she can say hi to. This was a highly unusual reaction . I’ve never seen her so scared not even when she gets shots or groomed. It was not her normal behavior I just checked her as I was about to give her a bath and her eye is extremely red and puffy . I shouldn’t have left her here . I think she may have pink eye or have been hit in the eye. I’ll have to take her to the vet to determine cause. The front staff lady was very rude the day I left her and my intuition told me it wasn’t a good place to leave her but I was scheduled for a work trip . I would highly highly highly caution anyone from trusting this facility . I thought they would be good because the vet next door is great . The staff in this boarding area is not anywhere near the same . I am so saddened that my baby was mistreated I have never heard of this type of experience . I would caution any puppy parent to try any other boarding service . I wish I had left when I saw the rude unprofessional front staff .

I took my dog here for daycare a couple of times. She would always come back shaking and acting crazed. The last two times I picked her up she was covered in pee from head to toe. I will not be back.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BOARD YOUR PET WITH THEM. I planned a 3 days vacation and i left my puppy with them for 3 nights. prepared his food in zip lock bags for morning and afternoon and labeled them for their staff to make it easier for them. I also asked for a day play for him so while I'm having fun, he can have fun too. They called me 8 hours after drop off and said, he can not have day play because he is not neutered. i was so pissed that they didn't disclosed it with me at the time of drop off. i had multiple options at the time if i could have been informed to take him to other facility. Once come back to take him, he instantly pee when he saw me and he was shaking so bad and smell like i just got him from a garbage bin. He is a friendly golden doodle dog that never ever bite or bark. After few hours that i picked him up i noticed that he has skin infection on his testicles and also he literally lost his voice and lost 2 lb. i called in and shared the injury incident and they put me on a very long hold and i had to call several times to find out if they have camera at the facility to check and see what happened to my puppy and they said they do have cameras, but it is accessible only by the corporate. BIG LIE. i heard that many facility, they have the live camera that you can see your own pet at all time while you are away to check on your love one, but these guys only look at you as a pure business and definitely no care what so ever. My puppy was literally traumatized and depressed for 5 days and didn't even wants to eat. IF YOU REALLY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR PET. THIS IS A PLACE TO BOARD HIM/HER. This place is more like a Jail to the pets than Hotel. Do not even contact them. They are not at all what they say they are. I have my attorney to sue them for the injuries that was caused to my puppy during his stay at their facility. Please be aware.

This is the only place we board our energetic Springer Spaniel. He comes home exhausted and I know he's well taken care of...I am THAT person that calls to check on their dog while on vacation and they're always so nice about checking in with the day play supervisor and reporting back. I love the fact that the vet is only seconds away. They've actually sent him a few separate times to be checked out by the vet (with our permission) after noticing an upset stomach and a tender spot on his paw. We use the grooming services, too and they're awesome!
