Dixon Animal Hospital isn't my regular vet, but they helped me out when I had no one. My cat had a little accident and needed a sanitary trim and my usual vet was closed and almost every vet I called in Knoxville was booked solid that day. …

Dr Dixon and his staff are always terrific with our "kids". Of course they don't love going to the vet, but they're always treated with care and love when at Dixon Animal Hospital.

I've been using Dixon for all 3 of my dogs. The service and care each have received makes up for a little longer drive. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend Dr. Dixon. We've take our pup to him twice and both times he has been very thorough and helpful. He takes his time and is patient with uncooperative dogs like mine. The woman who runs the front desk is super sweet and helpful as well!

I am not rating this vet four stars due to any sort of malpractice; they always did what was needed for our Aussie and handled him professionally. My issue is due purely to the poor public relations. This vet never went out of his way to express joy at seeing our pup, which is something really valued when you have a nervous dog. He also never acknowledged me in a friendly way when I came in to fill our pup's medication. Sometimes I would stand at the counter for many minutes before anyone even appeared, and I always felt very unwelcome. The staff was not very friendly. Overall, they never made my dog nor myself feel comfortable, never went out of their way to accommodate a nervous pup, so I cannot recommend this vet in terms of warmness or the expectations that should be met for a member of your family. However, I will reiterate that there is absolutely no malpractice; they always did their job just fine. This vet simply was not a good choice for our nervous pup.

My 20lb Boston Terrier got in a fight with a 100+lb lab/ pit mix. I called my regular vet to try to get her seen, but because they were full with other appointments, and because they hadn't seen her in awhile, they told me they couldn't work her in. The receptionist actually hung up on me. I was looking for a vet close by that might be open and willing to see her, trying to avoid emergency vet. I saw the reviews for Dixon and called. It was 5:30 and they closed at 6. The vet actually answered the phone (first time I've ever had that happen). He told me if I could get there fast, he would do a quick exam to make sure there was nothing major, but he had to leave at 6. We were gone less than an hour. He and the nurse were extremely kind. Fortunately my dog is ok, and Stella has a new veterinarian.

Dr. Dixon goes the extra mile with your pet. We moved a pretty good distance from his office 10 years ago, but still travel with our animals to Dr. Dixon for not only emergencies, but also routine care and boarding. His team is wonderful, very thoughtful and caring - and our dogs love them. He's not a vet that will dish out the small talk or try to make you feel all gooey inside. But if you want what is best for your pet, and a vet that figures out what is really going on with your animal, you will see Dr. Dixon!

Dr. Dixon is very thorough and understanding. He clearly has the pet and the owners best interest at heart. Courtney was also assisting and she was very sweet. I would highly recommend this clinic for a pets regular doctor.

I recently took my cat to Dixon Animal Hospital and couldn't have been more pleased with Dr. Dixon and his staff. My cat had a problem that required immediate attention, and the hospital was able to help me out on a drive-in basis. Dr. Dixon was attentive, courteous, and professional, and provided the treatments that my cat needed. He even followed up a day later to track my cat's progress. Wonderful! ... We're new to Knoxville, and it's clear that we've found our new vet!

I seriously recommend Dr. Dixon and his practice. I first went to him when my dog needed his yearly shots. It was a good, normal vet experience. But where Dr. Dixon has really shined and raised the bar in my mind is after my dog started having seizures. He has been thorough with exhausting our options and what is in my dog’s best interest and has CONSISTENTLY called us to check up on how my dog is doing, not just waiting to hear from me if there’s a problem. He and his team also helped me immensely to find the beat price on seizure medication when we determined that was our next step. I’m beyond impressed. I can’t say enough good things about this vet and his caring team.

My pet injured her paw and was needing to be seen. The wonderful people at Dixon got her in almost immediately. Very professional, while still having a friendly welcoming environment. Also did a follow up call the next day to check in and make sure that my pet was doing well. The new vet for our families pets!

We take both our dog and cat to Dixon Animal Hospital and have been VERY pleased with the care. Dr. Dixon is great with the animals. He always takes his time with them and is thorough with their check-ups. He's more thorough than any other vet we have gone to. We also board our dog there and she seems to love Dr. Dixon whenever she sees him :)

Dr Dixon and his staff are wonderful. Dr Dixon is very knowledgeable and explained in detail what treatment my two Shih Tzu needed. I was so impressed I decided to board them at the clinic during our trip to Texas. Neither one had ever boarded before. They were in wonderful shape and enjoyed the ladies. The mommy was worried. I was pleased with everything!!

Dr Dixon is a great animal doctor. He may seem gruff, but he's just very focused on his patients. The ladies in staff are super helpful and cheerful. They really care about what they do and always remember us. The prices are also quite reasonable. Dr Dixon has also given us very good advice & recommendation to UT's vet hospital when we had a need for specialized testing, which he followed up on with us every step of the way.

Dr. Dixon has taken care of my animals for 26 years now. I have been to other vets prior to living in Knoxville and have had to see vets at after hours emergency clinic. No one compares to him. I agree with other posts here that he cares about my animals. I trust him completely with my pets who are so important to me I can't even express. His staff are the best too.

Dr. Dixon and his team have been treating our animals for 24 years. When you stop and really think about why you take your animals to a vet it is not for your treatment it is for the best treatment of the animal. While he is dry, which I prefer, he is extremely compassionate and caring. He always finds out through thorough testing proper diagnosis for the best treatment of very complex medical issues. My friends who use other vets usually get sent to UT for lesser issues and have massive bills. All of my animals are now exceedingly elderly due to his care. I completely trust his judgement, thought process and recommendations for care. You will be very happy with his office, he devotes all his resources to your animals care.

Dr. Dixon and his father have cared for my dogs for 34 years. Yes, they both have had a dry bedside manner; however, I always drive 20-30 minutes just because my critters have received such excellent care. Dr. Dixon takes the time to explain and answer questions. It's not like an assembly line (getting you in there and out). My first dog lived to be 18 years old. I now have two dogs who are 16 and 13. I attribute those long lives to the good care and advice I have always received from Dixon Animal Hospital.

My wife and I have been taking our pet dogs to Dr. Dixon for about 20 years. Yes he has a somewhat dry bedside manner. I consider it my challenge to make him smile on our visits. However, the quality of service we receive is excellent. …

Dr Dixon is abrasive, blunt, and sometimes even flat out rude, but he is a GREAT vet. I have been taking my dogs & cats to him for nearly 3 years now. Dr Dixon has always been able to diagnose & treat my animals correctly, promptly, & for less money than any other vet I have been to in Knoxville. The one time he wasn't 100% sure what was ailing my rottie, he wasn't afraid to admit it, and he recommended a great specialist for me to see. He may not be sunshine & sugar, but he is good at what he gets paid for: treating animals.

I've taken my pets to Dixon for years and if its one thing he does well its diagnosing and treating illnesses... for pets. He isn't offering his services for your satisfaction, smiles, and sunshine, he's there to treat your pet, and he does it well. There's not any lollipops and suckers on the counter just for you, there's dog treats and pamphlets. Dixon becomes notably irritated both in his voice and through word use when I don't keep good enough care of my pet, but I'd rather him be upset with me to get the point across than wave it off assuming next time I'll come more swiftly if another problem arises. This is a great veterinarian office if you care more about your pets than yourself, and wouldn't recommend any other place in Knoxville for the well-being of your furry companions.
