We visited HVSE for something every pet lover dreads. We had to help our nearly 15 year old Dixie Doodle cross the Rainbow Bridge. From the moment the vet assistant met us at the car to the moment we left the clinic, the staff was caring, …

I have one of those horribly overbred bug eyed type dogs. Wednesday night one of his eyes was bulging out of his head. I drove him through a tornado to get him here. I was in a sheer panic. Everyone was incredibly patient and kind which was a feat because I was an absolute mess. The vet laid out my options very clearly and was upfront about all of the different possible outcomes. In the end, they removed his eye and did the best possible job of reassuring me that he would hardly notice. So here we are two days later and my gremlin is snoring on the couch, almost completely unbothered just as they told me he would be. I think if it wasn’t for the cone he wouldn’t be bothered at all. I can’t thank HSVE enough for how well they took care of my baby and for their compassion during what was hands down one of the worst nights of my life.

Had to let go of my dog and I wanted to leave a review to say how kind these people are. They went above and beyond for us and helped us have peace in a very difficult situation. Shout out to Lauren for being absolutely amazing and sweet. Thank you.

First time visit for emergency with our 13 year old dog. Staff was very helpful, professional and most of all caring. Dr. Noble and Jones were wonderful to us during this stressful time. Visit turned into a 2 night stay over. The doctors kept us well informed. Unfortunately we were not able to bring our baby home with us but the staff were great to us in our time of sorrow. Thank you for helping us cope with a sad and stressful situation.

The people at their desk are very helpful and always friendly and also caring. Our dog Scout has had the utmost care by the Vet Techs and Dr Noble. Dr Noble has taken the time to explain all the procedures Scout has had during our many visits to the hospital. We trust her judgment completely! It so nice have access to the kind of special care our dog has required here in Huntsville instead of having to drive to Nashville.

I arrived between 1-2am Tuesday December 7th with my dog. She had fallen off the bed, hit her head and neck. She was not responsive and jerking. After the other emergency clinic said they couldn't do anything I was sent to this one. I received the option to leave my dog there and see if the neurologist could work her in, but she had appointments so it was doubtful. Or consider euthanasia. That what she was suffering from was more than likely something that she couldn't recover from. Money was no issue. I could not let my dog sit over night like that in hopes she would be seen, so I made the difficult choice to put her to sleep and have her cremated. I called the cremation company that Tuesday afternoon to make sure they got her and they did. I never heard back from this emergency clinic. I finally called them Friday, and after being put on hold then told yea it's here, I went straight there to pick her up. I asked the receptionist was it not normal protocol to call when remains are returned? She said yes, there must have been a mistake. Then she asked for my phone number, and said oh no I called you on December 8th and there was no answer and there is no voicemail. I advised I has no missed calls and my voicemail is working and not full (since I get spam calls and voicemail regularly). And I understand sometimes wrong numbers are dialed, it happens, but while holding my dogs urn she wanted to basically argue about it, and that I was wrong. People make mistakes it happens, I can understand and forgive that, but to continue to argue about is very unprofessional.

Just took my cat to the ER here and I’m beyond happy with their services. They were very kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and were very prompt. I appreciate all their help making sure to find out what was wrong and making sure my cat was getting back to his normal self. Thank you :)

Dr. Erin and staff really care about your pet and will work with you on the best option for your situation instead of just writing an Rx and sending you on your way. As an Emergency vet, I hope I never have to use them, but if I do, I know they are a great team and my pets are in good hands here.

I wish I could remember the name of the sweet vet we saw here with our Saidee. We had to make the difficult decision to put her to sleep and she was so compassionate, the tone of her voice so sweet, and you could tell she really cared. Thank you to everyone from the front desk to even when I picked up her ashes the lady came around to the front to tell me she was so sorry and with it being such a difficult time you all made it as comfortable as you could.

An emergency visit is never easy but Dr. Harney and the team were kind, quick, and reasonable. Our pup liked being treated by them and I appreciated the direct discussions about costs and expectations. The actual visit cost came in under the original estimate. The staff seemed to be handling triage in a reasonable time frame and responding to critical cases quickly. We were in and out in about an hour. The facility is new and clean with public vending machines, a nice lobby, and good sized exam rooms. There’s even a dedicated green space out front for your pet to relieve themselves.

I posted an earlier review and it's been removed, so let's see if this also get's removed. I would never recommend this establishment for your emergency pet needs. We had a six wk old kitten that we had at our own vet earlier in the day for a traumatic injury. Our vet on Countyline is WONDERFUL, and took care of our little kitten. Our vet is amazing!! When we left our vet she said if our little kitty had issues during the night to call her emergency number or go to the HSV Spec. & emergency. Going there was our biggest mistake and one that cost our kitty's life. The vet we saw took x-rays, and said our kitten had no issues with the her heart or lungs, but needed oxygen and fluids, a possible blood transfusion from possible loss due to her injury earlier. When the vet left, the vet tech came into the room with a HUGE list of costs. We did say we wanted CPR if needed ($400); Oxygen ($600), to see the vet ($108); xrays (about $280ish)...and the price list went on and on. When I asked about stabilizing the kitten until we could get back to our own the vet tech left, and returned shortly saying they tried the oxygen test and our kitty failed. The vet tech went on about quality of life....it was a six week old kitten! Anyway, thinking we were doing what was best we signed the paperwork to keep her on oxygen and fluids overnight with a $1,300.00 deposit. When we left they said our kitten was resting comfortably. GREAT! Nope. Not so fast. No sooner did we get home the vet called saying our kitten coded, and that IF they did CPR chance are the kitten wouldn't make it. So, even though we said DO CPR, they never did. Our kitten went from resting comfortably to dying in the span of less than 30 minutes. When we went back to get the credit from our $1,300 deposit, we were credited over $900 back, which tells me A LOT about what they DIDN'T DO. I wish I had seen other reviews from folks who took their pet here for something non-life threatening, only to bring their body's home later.

I have had to bring two pets here within the last 10 days. The first was late at night because my cat had surgery performed by our regular vet (who I hold in high esteem). Later the next night (after the regular vets regular hours) the cat managed scratch open her would. We brought our cat here to have the wound reclosed. They were very kind and compassionate. I was grateful they informed me of possible charges before treatment so I wouldn't be surprised. I called upon the vet again as a friend asked for assistance to help help her cat cross the rainbow bridge early in the morning. Her regular vet wouldn't be able to help her until later in the day so we called them to ask if they could see us and what the costs were so we could make sure we were prepared. Everyone in the clinic was very kind and compassionate. They allowed us time to say our last goodbyes and cry. Both of instances have given me the opportunity to know that when a need arises I know where to bring my animals in an emergency or when our regular vets are not available.

Our bulldog Clementine has been a patient of Dr.Narak (neurology) for almost two years. After testing, she prescribed a medication regimen that eliminated her seizures. After being seizure free for so long, we were able to successfully discontinue one of her medications under Dr. Narak’s guidance. More recently Clementine had surgery for bladder stones performed by Dr. Harriman. The entire team was fantastic and took amazing care of her! We were updated often and all of our questions answered. Once her results were available, Dr. Harriman called to discuss a plan to hopefully decrease the risk of reoccurrence. I would highly recommend HVSE. I have never seen such a compassionate and caring group of people and that excellent customer service and patient care begins from the time you’re greeted at the front door!

Our first visit to HVSE this weekend was overall a very good experience. The facility is quite new, very clean and modern. The veterinarian and staff were all very friendly. We were very pleased with Dr. Nobles. She was extremely personable and listened to our concerns. She even got down on the floor to examine our puppy who was not feeling well. The office is conveniently located off Governors Drive in the Medical District. There was a large parking lot on the side of the building with plenty of open spaces as they are reserved for HVSE and the compound pharmacy only. There’s a large green area out front for the pets to use the restroom. Inside, the waiting room was large with plenty of seating. There were two vending machines that accepted credit cards and ApplePay. There was also a water fountain and two bathrooms. They gave us the preliminary costs upfront so there would be no surprises which we appreciated. We highly recommend HVSE and their staff. We would definitely be back if we need emergency vet services in the future.

My family has recently used their services twice. Everyone I spoke with was amazingly thoughtful and compassionate. Today we found out that they had contacted our regular vet to let them know the upcoming visits were no longer needed. Truly above and beyond. Thankful for all of the staff.

My last experience here awful. We were seen by Jacqueline Nobles, who was the least compassionate doctor I have ever met. We came to get our cat checked out because she has been having issues eating and had a swollen face this morning. She has recent previous issues with eating and it causing liver issues. We communicated everything we could so we could get our cat feeling better and figure out what we needed to do because she needs treatment and nutrition as soon as possible. She didn’t come in to the room until 3 hours later. She only asked a couple questions about what has been going on and then turns us away because she doesn’t have time to do a blood test. She proceeded to sit there in silence until I had to ask her if she was going to do anything for our cat moving forward because our cat is sick, won’t eat, and has a swollen face for god knows why. I hope I never have to see that woman again. She made it a horrible experience and I hope no one has to bring their pets to her. Other than Nobles, the rest of the staff were kind and extremely helpful during our stay. If only we received that same energy with Jacqueline.

Looking back, my first experience here a few years ago should have been a huge red flag. My dog had her first seizure. They said she had a respiratory infection. I didn't know it was a seizure until it happened again a few days later and the symptoms really clicked. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that I didn't describe the situation well and they did the best they could with what they knew. A few weeks ago we had a kitten fall off the bed and hurt its leg. We took it in and things went relatively well we thought. I got a bad taste in my mouth that they didn't bring the cost estimate in until after they'd done the most expensive part of the visit (x-ray) but yet again I tried to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were busy and got things mixed up. The massive splint they put on his leg moved before the day was even over. We ended up back there the next evening. They insisted they had to do it all over again. X-rays, sedation, etc. The vet proceeded to talk down to us like we were children and suggested that we needed to get a surgical consult for amputation! After spending $1,000 there in 36 hours and sick of their attitude we said we'd think about it. We went to our regular vet who was in awe of the too big splint that would harm the kitten's other developing joints. They have managed to put more appropriately sized splints that haven't moved for weeks at a time and done it without sedation. He's now almost completely healed and a perfectly happy kitten besides the fact that we won't let him jump around. Oh and we've spent less than $200 for 3 appointments????♀️ Are they good in an emergency? Probably better than nothing. I don't think they're evil and the facility is nice and clean. I just think their goals and attitudes are mixed up.

Recently I was traveling with my cat. She was very anxious and wouldn't eat or drink. I brought her here for an emergency exam and I was so thankful for Dr. Clendinen and the vet tech whose name I'm sorry I can't remember. They were kind and reassuring and took great care of my baby!

I cannot recommend them highly enough. From the woman that opened the door to the woman that let us out and everyone in between. Every one was SO caring and compassionate, the Dr explained our options completely and let us decide what to do without rushing us.

My 10 yr old chihuahua had to have a herniated disc repaired. I couldn't have asked for a better staff to take care of him! The Dr called and gave me updates and the nursing staff was unbelievably responsive to my questions and multiple phone calls to check on him during his stay. Even after I brought him home, they supported me. You will not be disappointed in their services if you need them.

They took great care of my Seymour after he accidentally got a deep cut on his mouth. We were in and out of there in less than an hour and the bill wasn't high at all. I definitely recommend this place! I'm so glad I found a good place I can take my animals if there's an after hours emergency. Thanks so much to the staff for taking care of him and being patient with me. I still think I was more upset than my dog was lol.

I brought by 5year old dog here because my local vet recommended them. He suddenly lost his ability to blink and walk straight. Well they “couldn’t tell me anything” without first running a $3000 MRI when the MRI came back clear they then decided he needed a spinal tap and blood panel which was another $800 and that also came back clear. After everything they could not give me any answers as to what was going on with him. We sadly had to put him to sleep just 3 days after he had all of this done. This place seems nice from the outside (probably because the amount of money they charge with NO diagnosis) but on the inside they are garbage. Charging pet parents crazy amounts of money because we would do anything to save our beloved pets. Save your time and money and find somewhere else to go, you won’t get a diagnosis here anyways.

We spoke with Renae upon arrival and she was very friendly and very helpful but it was downhill after that. We waited for almost an hour to be seen by a nurse and then wait to see the vet on call. There was only one other family there when we arrived and they left not long after we were put in a room. We were given a quote for bloodwork and testing and it was outrageous for something so simple. We were quoted a price of almost $800. They took our dog for another 2 hours and we could hear him crying in another room. After being there for over 4 hours I refused to wait any longer and left. We never received any diagnosis to help us know what was going on with our dog. I asked to pay for the bloodwork and the initial exam so that I could leave and was still charged almost $500 for nothing. They charge outrageous prices and don’t even help your animals.

Brought my dog in because he was having a first time seizer the other night. As any emergency it was unexpected. They took him in the back right away and started an IV. I filled out the paperwork and waited in a private room. Then the nurse came in and started asking questions that she should know to help my dog. Later we started talking about how much this is going to cost. Well I didn't have that much money in my account and needed a little time to get some money over to my account and such and such. Well long story short they stopped what they were doing because I wouldn't have the money in time and handed my dog back to me while he was still seizing. Pretty much I paid 200.00 for dollars for nothing and didn't even get to speak to a doctor about what is the problem or maybe the cause of it. Now I understand that they have to run a business and needs the money but it wouldn't of took me long to get the money in full. This place pretty much gave me the feeling that they care more about the $ than the fur baby. The staff was nice but still pretty much turned him away. I'd 100% recommend Arab Veterinarian hospital in Arab, AL. They would never turn away any animal in need. Even if you had zero dollars to offer them. They would figure out some type of payment plan.
