Staff was wonderful. They gave us time and privacy to get to know the dogs we were interested in. We already had a dog and he was able to get comfortable with the dog we adopted. We are very pleases that our dogs get along very well.

I am a Volunteer here and I've worked here for 6 months. We take in dogs and give them lots of love and always make sure they are taken care of. The shift leaders are kind and do well. We work and transform a new mistreated dog into a happy well fed dog. I love working there with the dogs it gives me some time with animals. It's alot of cleaning but I'll do anything to make sure a dog is well taken care of.

I wanted to adopt an indoor companion for Elle my tuxedo female, but I live in a trailer on someone else's property because my wife kicked me out, she is keeping 2 of our cats and I only get the one. My daughter fell in love with a young cat at the Shelter, but they refused our adoption application. If you're not in a perfect situation, the red tape for adoption here may be too much. My daughter is crushed, she loved that cat.

Best place for displaced pets. Wonderful people who truly care for these 4 legged angels. Making sure they get the right homes. Thank you staff.

I saw an adorable puppy online and applied. I understood the process completely and patiently waited for someone to call me within the 7 days if I was the selected adopter. To my surprise, I received a phone call 3 business days after my application was submitted. I gave a deposit to hold the puppy to ensure that I would come over the weekend to pick him up since he had received many applications. The facility was very clean and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and you could tell they really loved and cared for the animals there. I left with an adorable and healthy puppy, a nice little goodie bag and one happy son. The puppy is fitting in nicely at home with us. I highly recommend this facility for a new animal adoption. Thanks again for our new baby, Dino!

Horrible customer service. All the reviews that claim there's no communication are correct. Additionally, as a PSA to the folks who run rescues, here's *why* people buy dogs from pet stores/puppymills...Because many (not all) rescue operators incorrectly assume that unless you/your home meets their standards, you're unfit to care for a dog. Then these same people gripe, complain, and otherwise bellyache because 'There's so many dogs and not enough homes.' Horse feathers. They seem like control junkies who enjoy playing God. We adopted a Borgie from the pound. We take him outside to do his business--no fenced yard. He is a happy, babied, precious member of our family. He goes everywhere with us, even on vacation. He has a standing appointment with the groomer every two weeks and is at the vet every six months on the dot....But we're not fit to adopt a dog by the standards of most rescue organizations. We'd love to have another dog. We'd love to rescue one. But unless we luck up finding the exact right one at the pound, one that fits our dog and family, we're going to have to buy one. Being concerned is understandable, but some of these people are absolutely ridiculous.

Pay attention to all the other one star reviews. In this case they are all true about their process. My only addition to the complaints is they don't like veterans or service members in general. If you're a veteran seeking a dog DO NOT come here and get attached to anything you see. The woman reviewing the applications has disdain for veterans and you will get rejected.

Not every dog needs a fenced-in yard. It's very classist to deny someone a companion because they live in an apartment. I'm sure many pups are missing out on great homes.

It was decent they need to adjust their hours but other than that no complaints

We went to look for a puppy but you have to make an appointment and honestly the prices are quite high for adoption. I know they do fix them and send them home complete of shots but the woman said it depends on breed for pricing.. which I don't understand it should be a straight forward price. And you can't just walk around and meet all the baby's. You have to pick online and hope it's the right baby for you. Hopefully that will change after covid. I would be willing to go back

Though they are not open to the public, the staff did a great job of contacting me, setting up an appointment, and facilitating our visit.

The employees were so nice and we didn't pressured at all. They have a great outdoor play area where we were able to play with several puppies and choose the right one for our family.

We adopted our wonderful dog Cocoa (formerly Mayflower) from HSNWG six weeks ago. We have nothing but praise for the dedicated volunteer staff and the amazing facility. The place is clean and new and they are so fortunate to have so much open space and exercise areas. We found the process of adoption to be easy and appropriate. I would not want to adopt from a facility that basically just handed over a dog without careful vetting of the adopter. During the pandemic animals are in high demand for adoption and you have to act quickly. We were fortunate and couldn't have been happier with our experience. Thank you for all you do!

This is a terrific facility! The staff was friendly and patient. The critters all looked healthy and well-cared-for. Thanks for providing a clean, safe place for these animals while they wait to find their 'person'.

I wish someone would tell me why I never heard anything on my application. I made it very clear I was very, very interested in a certain dog. That dog is still listed as being up for adoption. I am an approved foster for another rescue. The only thing I can think of is the dog door. You asked on the application if I had one. I was honest and said yes. That doesn't mean I'm going to use it. Other than that I have no idea. I would have given that dog a wonderful home.

People were very nice when we visited (1 1/2 hour drive) the shelter but not a good experience once we started the adoption process. Numerous calls were made to the shelter with no answer so we decided to just visit ( 1 1/2 hour drive) the shelter to discuss a puppy we found online. We were advised that she had already been adopted so we looked around and found another puppy we were interested in and we were told we could adopt her (adoption application had already been completed online) but never received a call regarding update. Called again 3 days later and left another voicemail and received a returned call from Pat who initially had problems finding our application but reviewed the application with me while i was on the phone and was told we should not have been promised the puppy in the first place and they have had a lot of interest in her and then told me they do not normally adopt animals to the elderly as they are more likely to return the animal ??? Not sure how she came to that conclusion (what age is considered elderly/is that not considered discrimination) as i don't consider myself elderly. I am a senior citizen but perfectly capable to taking great care of a puppy and i feel like they would be a great companion!!! We have yet to receive a returned call letting us know if we would be considered or not and it has been 3 weeks so I assume it's a NO!!!

I will always love what they do...I really wish I had ways to help them out because they do so very much to help our community from being over populated with pets where ppl just dump them like they are nothing...they love us & expect us to care for them & in return they show us love. We have to be a voice....plz stop dumping pets & plz dont get them just to dump them because they're old or sick....or ur just tired of them.

I had the most amazing experience adopting my new fur baby from the HSNWG. I filled out an application online and received a call a few days later. I did a very short phone interview and two days later got a call that the puppy I wanted was mine if I wanted to come and pick him up. The facility is IMMACULATE! The animals appear very cared for. As far as I can tell, the cats are allowed to roam free and the dogs are allowed out of their pens for frequent play. I could not be happier with our experience. And one very important point to clear up. It is NOT required that you have a fenced in yard. I was truthful in both my application and my interview that I DO NOT have a fenced in yard and I do have a 10 year child. So if you do not have a fenced in yard, don't let that stop you from applying.

This Humane Society is wonderful! They have a very nice facility and took very good care of our two dogs before we adopted them. They were very accommodating and helpful as we made our decision. We are thrilled to add Mookie and Millie (fka, Baby Girl and Milla) to our family.
