Best team ever! Love the doctors, assistants, and reception staff. They are all so kind and really good at their jobs. You need a referral from your vet to bring your pet here if you are looking at their specialty services, so make sure to have that first. They were great with helping me decide how to address my baby's problem. No pressure to select a specific path for her, just "here are your different options and what they might cost." I hope, for my babies' sakes, that I don't have to use specialty vet services again, but if I do, I'm coming back to Upstate.

All staff were gracious, courteous and caring. Dr. Christ gave very clear explanations in an empathetic way. I was very impressed with the overall practice.

The staff and doctors at Upstate vet in Asheville are the best of the best. We took our Beau Dog in because our vet referred us to them. He was a very sick boy. Dr. Burge gave us all the information needed to make a decision. She was caring, compassionate, and easy to talk to. Unfortunately, our sweet boy was to sick and we had to tell him goodbye. The staff at Upstate vet walked us through the whole process. There were no surprises. Thank you for making this difficult time a little easier to go through. We highly recommend Upstate Vet.

Friendly people. I felt nervous because of past issues with vets but I felt at ease after talking to the vet/surgeon. And when I paid my bill I knew I was at a honest place. Regular vets had been charging me $400 or more for regular visits. Whether or not they did anything or prescribed meds. That was why I couldn't keep taking her before, it was outrageously expensive and wasn't helping her. I finally feel like Libby is actually going to see some relief. My only wish is that you didn’t require referrals.

Very friendly and warm, thorough with explanations, happy to answer any and all questions. Doctor explanation of procedure, how it occurred, how it will be fixed, honest recovery process expectations

Great experience! Hannah, Taylor, Dr. Kaplar, Dr.Christ, and another tech that I didn't get their name (she brought my dog out to us when we picked him up after surgery) - these individuals were amazing. They were all so kind and knowledgeable. It is stressful leaving your fur babies in the care of someone you've not met, but after the experience we've had with Upstate Vet, we would have no worries about leaving them there again. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Dr. Kapler spent an extended period of time both explaining what she found and answering our numerous questions. She was really spectacular. Her knowledge, and transparency about possible outcomes was extremely helpful. Deciding on surgery for your pet can be a difficult decision. Dr. Kapler wasn't pushy and helped us understand the potential benefits as well as the risks.

I had a hard time having to leave my cat here for a surgery and hospital stay. But they made it easier with updates and pictures they sent to me. Very professional and caring staff. Would definitely recommend.

Appreciate them making room for our dog who ripped open her chest. They took good care of her and would recommend them to anyone with a pet who requires skilled vets and techs.

Our 9 month old kitty was very sick. Our vet referred us to Upstate Vet for possible surgery. She ultimately ended up requiring surgery for a possible obstruction caused by a foreign object. They were successful in the enterotomy and removal of the object. They took wonderful care of our girl and she was able to return home the following day. We are grateful to the Dr. Hoffman and the surgeon (Dr. Krebs, I believe) for saving our baby.

Upstate Vet was very caring and communicated with me several times today to let me know what was going on. I felt very reassured that he was getting everything he needed and they also loved on him and you can tell how much they care about everyone’s animals. Staff was great And explained all procedures and answered my questions.

I can’t say enough about the care that my toy poodle has received after a freak accident. Everyone is so compassionate & kind. I’ve had daily reports, sometimes twice a day. I could go on forever about how awesome they have been! We are so blessed, they saved her life & we couldn’t be more thankful!

The surgery tech who came to get my dog at the car was extremely nice and patient. She greeted my dog and wasn't in a hurry. Dr. Christ called me quickly to discuss his exam. He wasn't in a hurry and took the time to explain his findings and opinion in a manner I could understand.

The surgeon, technician team, and front desk associates were so thoughful, caring, and supportive through the entire process for our pet, from the inital consoltation to his aftercare. They are incredibly responsive and go out of their way to make sure every concern is addressed. I can't recommend them enough!

The staff are always friendly and loving to our dog. The poor thing has had two TPLO surgeries performed by Dr. Christ. I have nothing but great things to say about the place. They are very prompt and the scheduling remains exactly as is discussed. They also really seem to enjoy the animals. When we picked our puppers up, they told us some of their favorite personality quirks they observed and gave us the run down on how she did during the whole ordeal. With their guided instructions and their patience with us calling to ask questions regarding the wound and its healing process, she made a full recovery is running and jumping and beyond happy.

Communication was efficient, the timing estimate was spot-on, and the feedback we received was helpful in taking next steps to care for our cat. Also they said Larry's face is adorable, and they are correct. He is a good boy, and we appreciate the people who help us take care of him. Thank you! Everything was great.

This awfully run "hospital" neglected and killed my dog. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I was referred here in hopes to get answers regarding my 2 year old Hound mix after she was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease a month prior. I spoke to the receptionist saying that she needed to see the Internal Medicine Diplomate as soon as possible and I was told to bring her that day (Friday, November 5th) to be seen by him. I was told she would be taken to the back with the emergency department vet, Dr. Hoffman, but the diplomate would be consulted on the case, as he was already aware of the issues from speaking to our normal vet. I drove over an hour to this hospital in hopes to receive excellent care. I waited 6 hours for testing, which included x-rays and an abdominal ultrasound. After the long wait, I was TOLD there was some sort of obstruction, but they ruled it as "diarrhea" and sent her home with me. The whole time at this hospital, I was told that the internal medicine diplomate was consulting with Dr. Hoffman on my dog's case. Come to find out, he never was given her case information and images until Tuesday November 9th. At this point it was too late, on Tuesday November 9th my goofy, adorable 2 YEAR OLD dog died in my arms at our vet office. Not only was I lied to for hours on Friday, they admitted to finding an abdominal obstruction and neglected to treat her. The hospital director is refusing to refund my thousands of dollars, and asked for an autopsy to confirm it was a foreign body obstruction that they neglected to remove on Friday (11/5). Autopsy came back on Friday (11/12), stating that she passed away due to a foreign body obstruction. This hospital is a joke and thrives off money, NOT proper treatment of animals.

Communication before the visit was excellent, and I knew what to expect. The signage was very helpful as well. The visit started on time, was neither to long nor too short, and the vet took the time to explain things well and answer all of my questions. I feel satisfied at the direction we decided on, and grateful for the professional and friendly help with my dog's care.

I would like to say that the vets I have encountered at this practice are absolutely wonderful and have served my many many pets very well. I must say though as I see the owner reads these reviews. I brought a pet in a few weeks ago and the girl that came out to get my pet from the car was one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. I was on the phone with my realtor at the time as I am buying and selling. After the blue haired girl had taken my pet my realtor said “my god who was that ? She was so rude”. She was so rude in her attitude and words that it was almost funny. Please young lady you don’t know what people have going on in their lives. You should never be rude but particularly when you are representing a wonderful establishment like this.

Baxter had his second knee surgery recently. It's only been 10 days, but he's doing even better than he did with the first surgery. Dr. Christ does a great job keeping pet owners informed and takes the time to answer all questions and make the owner feel comfortable with their decision. Skilled surgery service are their forte.
