Our 12 yr old Stella went downhill fast after her cancer diagnosis. We thought we had more time but while in Highlands, NC, she stopped eating and drinking. It was time. I tried to find a local vet who would euthanize her but our only …

I was hesitant to go here due to my past negative experience with Reach. But, I'm thankful I went. I had to put my lab down unfortunately. She had been diagnosed with terminal cancer last year and had so many great days but unfortunately that day she couldn't walk and was very sick and I knew that it was time, I couldn't let her suffer. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do and they gave us our own private room and gsve us time with her and the vet was so kind and loving on her the whole time. It was probably the worst experience I've ever had as a pet owner but they made it the best it could be. I'm really thankful for that and then the opportunity that they gave me to have her cremations and her paw print made.

This place is a joke. They care more about money and getting paid rather than caring for someone's pet. I wanted to get my pet checked and was willing to pay the $125 for her to be seen but they can't even work out a payment plan if …

There is no one doing triage here. I know everyone's loved one is most important, but some pets are really in dire need of medical attention. You call in when you arrive; we were told several minutes, ok great. Several minutes turned into 30, then 60, then 90. My wife finally went in and got someone to come and take our very sick dog after telling them he was dieing. We thought finally, our dog who was taken in on a gurney was going to get the medical attention he needed. After two hours, we called to find out his status. We were told he had a fever and so they just removed him from his bed and placed him on a metal table to lower his temperature. We told them he needed fluids and wasn't eating. So in 3.5 hours all we got was him placed on a metal table. We could here staff explain to others that they had some emergencies. REALLY!, that's what you do! You are a 24/7 emergency vet service, it's on your sign! Long story short, if you can drive further to the next town maybe you can receive more responsive care. MedVet is just buying up practices so they can be the next Air B&B of emergency vet care.

Top Notch staff. Super FRIENDLY ! We had a pretty big emergency after hours and the veterinarians here went immediately to work and took care of our Boston Terrier "Honey" quickly and professionally. A big shout out to Brandi in the office dept there, she really went out of her way to accommodate our needs. Thank You Med Vet. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We brought Millie in after she had been run over by a truck and they quickly took her back to stabilize her. The staff and doctors were amazing! The communication was great and all my questions were answered to ensure I understood. The doctors and staff were kind and respectful.

Came here Monday because cat was clearly in pain and distress. They got him in quickly and determined he needed immediate care. We got quick compassionate care and after two days there he is feeling much better. I would highly recommend in an emergency.

Our recent experience with MedVet Asheville was 2/3 negative, 1/3 positive. The biggest criticism? There's no Triage at this "emergency" vet. This seems like a HUGE issue - a no brainer for an emergency facility. 2nd criticism - there's NO communication between staff and pet owners. We called ahead in route with a critically ill dog. When we arrived (during COVID protocol), we parked and called in to say that we had arrived. We were told someone would be out in a "few minutes". The parking lot was about 1/2 full of a mix of dogs - some appeared to have minor ailments and others more critical. No one ever came to us, or called, or gave an update... so we finally rang the doorbell after one hour. We spoke to the office staff who said that they were very busy and would be right out... and I explained that my dog was critical. The very casual, disinterested staff did not seem to care. There were 2 staff sitting at the front desk - they were not rushing, not frantically busy - just disinterested. They said someone would be out. Another hour went by... no attention and still no communication. Again, I rang the bell, entered, and told the staff, "I think my dog is dying right now... and you are ignoring this emergency". Finally, they sent out a vet. She approached the vehicle and asked what was going on. We said, "We think he's dying". Her FIRST response was, "Do you want us to euthanize him?" Unreal. We explained that we had no idea what was going on with him - how could we make THAT decision?! Further - we explained that he was not eating and had not drank for 18 hours by that point - he needed fluids. This was shocking and about the worst "bedside manor" I've ever seen. They took him away on a gurney (he could not walk). TWO more hours went by, with no communication. I entered again and asked what was happening. A tech came out to speak to me. She said he had a very high fever, so they put him on a metal cage and his fever came in, and his temp had gone down a little. I asked if IV fluids were helping... and she said they had "not yet" put him on fluids! At this point, 4 hours on site, he still did not have IV fluids. I asked that they start fluids. She said they would, and then would give us an evaluation and update. Again, 1.5 hours passed, no communication. I approached again... tech came out again... she said they had not evaluated him yet, "But was just about to"... and they would call. After 9 hours total, we called again. The vet would call back. She did call back in about 1 hour, but the news was not good. Ultimately, he was terminal - sepsis, kidneys failing. The 2nd vet was kind - Dr. Hanes. We had to put our boy down. So, here's the thing - this is supposed to be an emergency vet. There NEEDS to be triage in the parking lot. Staff need to be trained properly to quickly evaluate the need for urgent care and start obvious emergency procedures such as IV fluids. And, staff (including vets) need to learn proper bedside manor and how to address owners facing these emergencies.

Took my dog in as instructed by my vets that was closed. Thought she had a partial obstruction from a foreign body. Massive vomiting. I waited 2 1/2 hrs in the car with repeated calls ands being told it would be soon that they would come get her. Finally, they took her inside and 2 more hours passed with nothing. I go inside and am told that she has not been seen yet but should be within 10 minutes. I wait another 30 minutes and still she has not been seen. Told them to bring my dog to me, I would go to another emergency center. Had to ask twice for my dog and that took another 30 minutes for them to bring her to me. Terrible service, no updates and not triaged appropriately. Would not recommend.

First, the good: The staff here was kind and completed the procedure that quite likely saved our pup's life. The place is modern and clean, and in a jam, if you have no other choice, I'd recommend it. They did the work that was so necessary, and for that, my family is grateful. That said, there is clearly a problem here with completing the work in a timely manner and keeping customers updated on what's going on. Our pup needed to get a shot to make him vomit up something potentially very harmful, a procedure that they said should take about an hour. We waited almost four hours with no explanation or update throughout the process unless we called and, at some points, demanded one. We waited 45 minutes simply for them to complete exit paperwork, while we sat and worried about what could be taking so long. Our example was far from the worst. Some customers commiserating in the parking lot had waited much longer. One woman dropped her dog off for diarrhea in the morning and was told to go out for breakfast and that they'd give her an update when she got back. We met her at 4:30 p.m., and she still had not gotten an update. Reading the reviews here, I see that management has responded in the past to say they will address this problem. They clearly have not. While we are appreciative of the work completed, we'd still offer a warning to potential customers: you might be glad with the result, but you may have a long, worrisome wait.

My experiences here are not the best. As i’ve had a cat pass away here in the past from unusual circumstances without any closure as to why, I could be biased. I took my cat here as our primary vet was closed and my cat was feeling very ill and under the weather. It cost $300 for fluids/antibiotics and the nurse/doctor scared the life out of me stating how my cat has an obstruction because he must’ve swallowed something. Told me it was very urgent to get him x-rayed and blood work done. I was anxiety ridden and couldn’t sleep. I took my cat to my primary vet only for them to tell me he’s completely fine, probably was just dehydrated and needs a flea treatment. I get it, its 3rd shift, the nurses aren’t the nicest. This place is definitely money hungry and aren’t looking out for your animals best interest. take the trip out to flat rock to their emergency hospital, they’re way more affordable and so much more friendly.

Our diabetic dog had a seizure on July 4th. We were rushed in and treated immediately. He was kept for observation and everyone was very generous with their time talking to me. He recovered with no complications. Thank you to everyone who works so hard to keep our beloved pets healthy.

Our dog was hit by a truck last Sunday night and we came from Old Fort around 11pm to MedVet and they were absolutely amazing from start to finish. Kept in contact with us about every detail of our dogs care. We had a little miscommunication about the amount owed but it was soon figured out with no further issues. Thank you for caring about our furbaby as much as we do.

Our bulldog Frank had been vomiting for 3 days and needed a trip to our vet. He was X-ray and found that he had something in his stomach, possible animal stuffing. Our vet recommended them. It was thanksgiving eve and no one would take him. After drop off we were called with options, surgery for the obstruction seemed best. The surgeon called us at 4 a.m. to let us know everything went well and that we could pick him up the day after thanksgiving. At pickup instructions were clear for his recovery. Frank just had his stitches out and doing fine. For all the people complaining about price or they are just concerned about money, you obviously have not owned a business. With their job I believe if they waited on folks to pay they would have been closed down along time ago. Yes they are expensive, supply and demand. I am not saying to make them your personal vet but if you pets life depends on it I believe they would do everything they can.

Awful experience. My fiancé and I basically paid them $1500 to tell us to go somewhere else. Our dog had eaten something bad. We paid them $300 for them to tell us what we already knew. Then they said get an xray and we paid over a grand, for them to tell us the x ray was inconclusive and we need to go somewhere else where they had better equipment. When I called the director to say I don’t feel we should pay the whole bill cause they didn’t do anything. She could careless. Totally inauthentic like talking to the boss from office space. Horrible experience and what is worse is they are only all night vet so they can charge whatever they want and you have to pay it unless you want your animal to die. Awful place.

We brought our sweet and very loved 17 year old cat in the other night when his condition deteriorated rapidly. He was seen and diagnosed promptly. Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done to keep him with us unless we were willing to subject him to frequent and invasive medical procedures. It was his time to move on to his next adventure and MedVet helped to facilitate his passing as gently and compassionately as possible. It is never easy to say goodbye but we were able to sit with him and surround him with love as he drifted off. I believe we were offered the best possible care given the circumstances and our options were made clear to us throughout the process.

Never take your dog there. You are better off talking to a better vet even if it emergency. If I could I would give it zero stars. They don't care about your animals. Just show them the money. Third shift are rude people and you can't go with your fur baby. So you don't know what they are doing or giving to them. Stay away least third shift!!

These folks seemed to truly care about animals when I brought in a cat that I thought was mine. My cat had been missing for some time and I got a call about one found at the Asheville mall. I picked the cat up and was fully convinced he was mine by how much it acted and appeared to be mine. The cat needed medical attention, I could tell it had been hit or something was severely wrong not to mention I needed to have him scanned for the chip that my cat would have had. Sadly, I was let down after these wonderful people scanned for the chip and none were found. They still went into saving mode and continued to care for the cat as humanely as possible. I am not aware of the outcome of the cat's life as I had to remove myself from that situation due to the traumatic nature of the situation and my love for animals. But I can give the facility an A+ on the level of concern and care right from the first interactions on the telephone regarding g whether or not they could help us.

Well from what I've seen, this place is very professional and competent. But...all I've seen is from the parking lot! Never been inside or seen or talked with the veterinarian! Y'all gotta come up with a better way'a doing business or at least provide covered parking and a proper WC for those of us that travel from the edge of the world to help our pets! Proper sheltered parking spaces would be practical and would not be cost prohibited in today's environment! If ya want y"all can wear roller skates like the drive up Burger joints use'ta! Our pup says "Two Paws Up!" For Dez Guys!

So disappointed! The service was slow and very unhelpful!! They wouldn't even help us get our injured dog out of the car and into the facility. I'd go to Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital & Veterinary Emergency Hospital instead, it's worth the extra 20 minute drive from Asheville!
