I recently lost my 13 year old pup and best friend and was devastated. I had inquired with 3 or 4 rescues, that of which, would never call me back or said all small dogs I was interested in had about 30 applications in already. I called Richardson Rescue and spoke with Janet and Laura (they actually answer the phone there) and explained I was from out of town and inquired about the adoption process. They worked with me every step of the way and were wonderful! This rescue is awesome! I absolutely love my new little family member Gus! He is so sweet and loving and I am forever grateful to this rescue for being so wonderful to help me find him. Thank you Janet and Laura! Please DONATE to this amazing rescue!

Found an Omani Wadi (Saluki/Cannan) named “Max” aged 4. I was able to apply, gain approval, meet & walk the dog on grounds. I adopted Max. However, the life history provided to me about Max was incorrect. The vet informed me he was at least 8 and unfortunately had contracted lymphoma. I am so grateful to have rescued Max regardless of our short time together. Max did not suffer and had a beautiful loving home to be himself until it was his time. These are normal risks when adopting a rescue. I encourage everyone to adopt a rescue, especially from Richardson’s.

When trying to adopt a dog for my grandson who lIves with me I was denied because I am a senior citizen, so I have to adopt a senior citizen dog. I believe this is discrimination and am very upset!

I used to volunteer photography services to Richardson Rescue and saw the BTS workings of the rescue. What a beautiful service they offer. There’s is not an easy job, falling in love many times daily when success means losing that love as they go on to their “forever “homes. Please don’t get frustrated if you don’t get the very first dog you set your heart on. Take just a minute to consider, * Yes whenever possible most rescues try to match Senior Homes with older dogs. As a Senior myself I wouldn't think of adopting a young dog. What happens to "Spot" when I'm gone? As hard as it is to place an 8 yr old, or even a 6 year old, imagine finding a home for a 12 yr old. * A new arrival might generate 0 interest or 100 applications. Personally I'd rather know these hard workers are busy bathing, feeding, caring for, loving the animals rather than sending out 99 letters to say "Thank you for your interest but "Fido" is safe now and in his own bed." Please, support these folks in the Herculean tasks they perform and forgive any hurt feelings caused by lack of time and manpower. Be glad the animals are priority number 1. I'll be holding my senior pups tonight all the closer after this reflection. (All dogs pictured were placed by Richards Rescue. None of the dogs pictured are available now. Lucky dogs!)

We got our new dog from Richardson Rescue. We had been frustrated with the rescue process in general until we were approved by Richardson Rescue. They made the process very simple and they knew their dogs very well. The office staff really care about the dogs and the families they work with. Our Maxie is very unique and special. Even though I know she is still adjusting to her new home, she is perfect. We have three small kids and their safety was my primary concern. It was a drive to visit and adopt since we live north of Charlotte, but it was worth it. We were approved on a Monday and brought Maxie home the following Tuesday after visiting her on Saturday.

I live not too far from Richardson rescue and have for a while. There have been many drop-offs and Strays over the years and anytime I have any questions or need any help Janice has always tried to help in any way she could. Her and everyone that I have met their are genuinely wonderful people.

I found this rescue through pet finder and I can’t begin to describe how wonderful this rescue is. Everyone is lovely and professional. I came to visit my little girl and took her home since she clicked with me at first meet. They told me of any medical issues and gave me a brief history on our dog Rosey. They take care of the animals and the adoption process was smooth as could be. They are also very responsive when putting in applications. I would absolutely recommend this place if you’re looking for a rescue.

My mother and I picked up a very sweet dog, he was about 6lbs but the place was poorly managed, they got our pick up time wrong, messed up his micro chipping 3 times, he was bleeding from the process, they had all their small dogs in a room together free roaming despite clear aggression in some, a fight broke out while I was there and they didn’t bat an eye at it. This dog was traumatized. They said he was just a “lone wolf” but he had been clearly recently attacked by THEIR dogs in their office as he has recent teeth punctures in his throat and he was listed as good with other dogs but is now scared of them and needs time to adjust and get over his fears. Very depressed pup and the atmosphere was gloomy with their dogs. He was extremely unhappy and terrified there and we hope to give him a better life.

They don't list the pet's history. After finding the dog that I wanted to meet, I emailed several times to get more information. No one got back to me. I drove 2 hours one way to meet the dog only to be told that it didn't like other dogs, children, or other pets. Needless to say, I was extremely angry. Funny thing is, the dog's listing was removed the next day, which leads me to believe that they already had someone else in mind to adopt it. From the website, I see that I am not the only one they did this to.

I filled out an app, in which they ask which dog. I named a dog but states also, best match. Been adopting rescues many years and am very familiar with the process. A few days later I got a reply stating that dog was adopted. There was no further processing of my application, no other info. We've since been approved by 4 other rescues, but this one just didn't follow up. I appreciate how they are all volunteers - I am one myself for other rescues - but it's not very effective to leave good homes hanging.

I give a 4 star review only because they are doing the best they can with the resources available to them (help is always appreciated, but they are great). I applaud their outreach to save furbabies, and appreciate Richardson Rescue allowing us to adopt Daisy. She was just what our family needed.

Blue is our BABY and the absolute best dog in the world. Richardson Rescue was great about communicating with me and answering any questions when I was adopting him. They care about all of their dogs so much. He's blossomed into such a happy and confident dog. Thank you for rescuing him and giving our shy guy a chance. I couldn't imagine life without him.

I am unsure of who called me this morning (caller ID says “Jane Richardson”) but my experience on the phone with this shelter was horrendous. I had put in an application to adopt a puppy just yesterday and this morning I got a hateful call …

Was told I could not adopt a poodle mix that was good with kids because I wouldn't have the patience to train a dog like him. Also that he needed a home where not many dogs would be in and out of my home. This Laura lady made all these assumptions without even interviewing kr meeting me or my family. No other dogs ever come into our home and my wife is a stay at home mom with a ton of patience to train. Laura was rude and ridiculously unprofessional. I feel.so.sorry for the dogs there that will never be adopted due to their poor service.

Really good people and healthy animals. We had good luck adopting a rescue puppy here. The folks are thorough, professional and friendly. Easy to get to and a relatively stress free environment for animals to find a new home.
