The Pet Center Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Went into this store today to get another parrot cage and some new bowls for my existing cage. Walked around store for several minutes looking at these items. Several times, store employees walked past me, each time avoiding eye contact. At one point, I even walked up to the check out area, only to watch an employee scurry away. Unbelievable. Several hundred dollars walked out their door today and went directly to Amazon.

I've read a lot of the reviews yes the older Lady isn't really friendly the older Gentleman seemed nice. Personally I didn't go to make friends. I went to get some mice for my snake and will be going back when I need more and anything else I need for her. Also it looked like they had a large selection of fish and when I set the aquarium again I will be back to purchase some from them. If they have what I need I'm good with that. How many people shop at Walmart for the nice friendly staff cause there isn't many of them but you keep going back to get what you need. UPDATE: Went again on 1-05-22 to get a small rat they were out and the older Gentleman let me know they had some coming in the next day and what time and helped me find something else I needed he was just as nice this time too. I also meet another Lady that works there when I was taking a little more time to look at the fish. She was very friendly and helpful seemed like she really like what she was doing.

old merch and animal food has sat there for ages....go to petsmart instead

Got my miniature yorkie here for around $2100. He is happy and healthy as of right now. The staff are amazing and super friendly!

Want to thank them for taking such good care of our Lilly will be using them in the future for all my pet needs

They need to shut this place down. I’m calling in DHEC. Myrtle Beach does not need this in their area. We do not want a pet store that sells dogs. This supports puppy mills which is the same as your Breeders you buy from. They just keep producing over and over. And it seems you don’t know what your selling half the time. We will start a petition to shut you down.

I love this place-my first choice for my animals needs. First off the store is organized and laid out so well. The staff is great and they really do care about every animal in their care. Bobby the cockatoo stole my heart, I’ve never handled a bird in my life but she just stepped her little foot toward me and crawled onto my shoulder. Someone mentioned she bit-she gave me a little love nibble it was cute, never in my life did I see myself wanting to love on a bird so much as I’m a dog person but wow did Bobby change my mind about birds. Last but not least, and I really hope the staff sees this-thank you so so much for sticking up for your employees. I read a bunch of reviews about employees having bad attitudes-these employees do not have bad attitudes just because they don’t allow the public to mis treat them. This is unheard of now a days. A workplace that defends its employees is a unicorn these days and I greatly appreciate that you treat your staff with respect and demand the same from customers. I will definitely be shopping here in the future. Keep up the great work!

I Purchased a puppy on 9/2/21..An all Black miniature schnauzer (the runt) whos name is now Lizzie. She was 8wks at the time. I had an excellent experience purchasing her and I just took her to the vet today to find out she is COMPLETELY healthy. No worms, ear mites or any other common puppy problems. My vet was also well pleased to see how often you guys wormed and administered the 5 way shot. I just wanted to compliment you guys and let you know I am VERY well pleased with my purchase!!! I Will definitely do business with you guys again in the future.

I love my rabbit but the service wasn't great. it felt very unfriendly.

Messy store, NO PRICES ON MOST STUFF. AND LITERALLY HEARD A EMPLOYEE QUOTE A PRICE FOR SOMETHING & TURN AROUND AND QUOTE THE ITEM FOR MORE $. FUNNIEST PART, 2ND PERSON was with the 1st person quoted. Also prices seemed to be a little high in general in the store

My family owned a pet store for years and I have been a wildlife rehabilitator for more than 30, was a senior vet tech for 8 years and I also own a tortoise rescue and I can tell you that these people MIGHT have been good at one time but they have lost that somewhere along the way, to say the least. I don't care how old you are (and I'm almost 50), you don't treat people the way they treat people. Rude is an understatement! And PLEASE.... don't ask to pick which fish you want (and I'm not talking about feeder fish) because either of the twoladies will give the UTMOST attitude and STILL NOT get the one you want. I have seen nothing but dead fish in their tanks and I recommend, if you want something they have, going in the day they get it and take it then! Otherwise you'll lose them when you get them home. The store is always dirty and that small tank by the front counter has been nasty since the first day I started going in LAST YEAR!

Don't enter this place unless you want the rest of your day ruined. Employees are extremely RUDE. Was looking for a friend (pet) for my oldest daughter and the ladies were so rude, we left without buying anything. I advised one of the ladies that her behavior was rude and she laughed. Really sad because they could have easily made over $2,000 from my purchase for that 1 day as well as had a repeat customer. To bad the employees have poor basic customer service skills and basically do not care about this store. A little disappointing because this store is so close to where we live. Will never return and advise any decent person to never enter this terrible place. Found a lovely place named Coastline.

I love the birds there and I have pet and held Bobby many times and she is a sweetheart but she does bite despite what the sign says. I hate to sound rude but the workers there are very mean and not friendly. When I walked in I said hi to one of the male workers and he looked at me and walk away without saying anything. I have never been purposely rude (I am autistic so its hard for me to pick up social cues) and always try to be very polite and nice so I don’t know why a lot of the workers are so mean to me. I got an extremely dirty look from one of the male workers when I was holding Bobby, I didn’t pick her up forcefully (she climbed on me when I was petting her) I wasn’t being mean or rough with her I was calmly petting her back so I have no idea what warranted getting me a dirty look. I love animals especially birds and I was being very carefully with her.

I purchased a puppy from Pet Center in 12/20. I was told she was a teacup and she would be no more than 5 pounds! I paid $2195. She was 8 weeks old and 1. 6 lbs. For her. Well here we are 5 months later and although she is beautiful & precious…SHE IS NOT A TEACUP…she weighs 8 lbs plus. I feel I got ripped off and lied to. I would never had purchased her if I knew she wasn’t a teacup. Very dissatisfied customer. I needed to get a tiny dog because I have heart issues and can’t running after a normal pup…she is extremely wild.

I spent $500 on a purebred fox terrier that ended up having no fox terrier in him. After a few months of having him we got him DNA tested and found out he is a mutt with more jack russell than anything else. I paid purebred dog prices and got a mutt. I wouldn’t mind having a mutt if I was charged a fair amount and told ahead of time that he was a mutt. I could have gotten a mutt from a shelter and paid almost nothing, and I wish I did that. I contacted the owner and sent all of the information he asked for regarding the situation and then he stopped responding to me. I wrote a review earlier, but deleted it since I was being helped, however, once I deleted it the help stopped.

The owner of this store is rude and extremely arrogant!! And of no help at all, I am so upset with the treatment I and my spouse received I’m calling the better business Berea. Not to mention prices are double and triple that of neighboring pets smarts, many of their animals are sick, you call them for a price and you go in and that price doesn’t exist! Shameful the way they do the public! I was told he didn’t need my business!!! Shameful their business practices!!

Paid over $1800 for a Maltese puppy. She had an ear infection and skin issue when I got her but I was fine with that. Then I noticed she wasn’t responding to me. She’s deaf. Called and he said he needed proof from a vet to refund me some money since I wanted to keep her so I went and paid $50 for the vet to see her and write up she’s deaf. He said to bring the proof and we could work something out. There’s no working time out with him. It’s his way or not way and he’s not nice about it. The owner was so hateful about it and wouldn’t even give me half back. He cares only about the money. He said he was loosing. If I gave her back for a full refund he could sell her to someone else or give her back to the breeder. He could still go back on the breeder for refunding me since she’s deaf. The puppies aren’t kept in a nice area. I got her because I knew the people who couldn’t keep her and took her back and I couldn’t bare the thought of her being in the cage there. Someone else got refunded half because they bought a yorkie and it turned out to not be pure yorkie. I have a puppy with a health condition and couldn’t get half back. I had all my papers from when I bought her plus vet records stating she was deaf. He didn’t refund me for the vet visit to get the paper saying she’s deaf either. STAY AWAY! It’s not clean, they aren’t friendly, and the animals aren’t taken care of! UPDATE: in reply to the businesses rude reply - I DID BRING IN RECORDS FROM A LEGIT VET SAYING SHE WAS DEAF AND THE HEALTH GUARANTEE THE DAY I BOUGHT HER!! The owner wouldn’t even refund me for the vet visit I had to pay for to get the paperwork!

This place has the worst employees, I went to go get crickets and one lady employee just stands there and doesn’t ask how many I want. You should always ask what your customer wants. The way she was talking was not nice. I feel bad for every animal in that store. Get better employees.

They had a great selection of fish, but the process were kinda high. All the other products there are reasonably priced, they haf some bunnies but one was sick and couldnt be sold.
