Called about stray dogs running in the neighborhood 2 mins after seeing them. Told them i last saw the dogs on my street and they are loose all the time. Lady told me to call them when i know exactly where the loose dogs were, maam they are running around the neighborhood and there is a school nearby then she asks who do they belong to..how tf should i know..thats for yall to figure out. Needless to say they never came, dogs still running through neighborhood. Thanks City of Columbia animal control for not doing your job.

I came to pick up my cat that was dropped off. I came to the door that was locked. When the lady at the front desk came to the door she told me to wait in my car for two people to come out to me. Didn't explain who they were or what they needed from me. I went and sat in my car for two hours. I tried called and she told me multiple times to wait in my car. We then walked up to the door and we told her we had work in an hour and she stared at us and asked if we were ready to come inside. Why did i need to wait in my car for two hours to then have her make a snarky comment about letting me inside. After a long wait we were told that we weren’t even allowed to bring our cat home but we had to pay to get it spayed and neutered. I was allowed to go and see my cat and the conditions inside the building were horrendous. They didn’t have proper bedding. The whole room smelled of rot. Some cages had up to 3 cats in one. Once i visited my cat i then had to sign a paper stating that if my cat was to die in surgery they cannot be blamed. I’ve never seen anything like this. I take all my pets to palmetto lifeline and have never signed anything like that in my life. Please do not surrender your pets here. Clearly they do not care to take anymore in. Staff was awful. Especially the lady at the front desk who had us waste our time for two hours. A terrible experience.

Handed me and my business very poorly. Mocked me having death in my family as if I was lying. No professionalism from their officers or staff. As a US Veteran I did my best to reason with them with no assistance offered for my plight. Please change the Columbia we live in.

Got my mutt from there.not the best behaved dog for a farm I ever had but I love her none the less.she needs constant supervision with my other animals. She is a boxer mix.will get her a playmate from there eventually probably another boxer mix when they get one in.i used to buy pure breeds but the shelter is always full so I just adopt from now on.

I have been looking for a dog for a while I’m under weight restrictions because of my rental and I thought I found the perfect dog. I went to the shelter and asked to meet the dog and the lady just gave me a leash and sent me down the hallway not really seeing if I am experienced with a lot of dogs or if I am comfortable with the situation. I walk into a room with 15 to 20 medium to large size dogs barking and jumping at the gate and just being so loud. It took a lot of courage to keep going because the dog I want to see was at the very end. They get to meet the dog I see that he’s not the weight told on line he’s actually 15 pounds heavier. We try to put on his leash to always give him a little walk but he ran out of the gate and it took us five minutes to get his leash on and to walk him out I felt bad because I couldn’t take him with me and he’s really sweet and really cute but I probably wouldn’t have gone to see him if his weight was listed correctly. I guess next time I’ll call but looking at the other reviews it seems like they don’t really like to talk over the phone they don’t have good customer service in person or over the phone. I came to the shelter before looking for a lost dog from our neighborhood and had a really bad experience and I said I probably would never come back I gave him another try and I still had a really bad experience I don’t know what will have to happen to get me to go back into that place.

This is a place full of love for its animals. The staff are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable! You can tell the cats and dogs, kittens and puppies are well cared for here!!! I would def go here first as they see the highest amount of animals coming in that are in need!!!

Nice staff, very helpful and friendly. Also, I hate that I have to write anything negative because I loved the experience overall, however they gave me a sick kitten that contracted herpes and other contagious illnesses that possibly could make my cat living at home sick. His name was Vali, he’s orange and very cute. They’ve already been in the process of getting him well, thought he just had a cold but he had way more than that including ear mites. Please double check on the pet you’re looking to adopt before adopting, these people seem to not care for animals as much as they advertise.

My friend got a discount on a neutering for her dog. This isn't the first time. She loves the help she gets from them since she loves her furry family.

I spoke to a woman on the phone who was extremely nice and helpful, but when I got there the woman behind the counter was rude, obnoxious, and was absolutely no help. We brought our dog in to do a meet and greet so we could potentially adopt and with me being 7 months pregnant she made us go get the dog from her cage ourselves, interact the ourselves, and put her back ourselves. She was very rude when we had decided not to adopt from there since the pups didn’t get along. We had a horrible experience overall. BUT the lady on the phone was so nice.

I spotted a stray husky in the neighborhood i work in and called these people for help. After being on hold for 30 mins I was greeted by a man who seemed to be in disbelief that I was calling to report a stray animal. He was rude, unprofessional, condescending, and he is a liar. After taking the address he said he would send someone out.. A few days pass and I see this VERY BEAUTIFUL, VERY ADOPTABLE HUSKY dead in the street. I wish I knew the mans name. Never calling here again. Not helpful.
