Jim is amazing and has helped me with a total of 3 dogs now throughout the years with a wide range of issues. His experience and communication during training is great and he really cares. He helps YOU train your dog but also helps you to understand them/why they do what they do. He’s really the best and has helped so many animals (mine and others I know). I’m so happy I was referred to him years ago.

I have seen such excellent results in the behavior of my 1 year old female Rottweiler, Alibi, since working with Jim from Great Dog! In Home Dog Training. After having my dog a few months, I began to notice undesirable behaviors that I wanted to work on with a professional trainer. I listed these behaviors and weighed the options of a group class vs. in home training. Jim focuses on positive reinforcement training which is very appealing to me. Jim has a very reasonable starter package of 3 lessons. He came out for an evaluation of Alibi first. Since starting her lessons, my dog has developed significantly and my ability to control her has increased as well. Jim is professional and knowledgable. He explains the 'science' and reasoning behind the strategies and techniques that he uses which makes the training experience not only effective but interesting. Xena and I came to Jim with two primary objectives: (1) for me to learn how to be a better dog parent and help Xena work through her frustrations, and (2) for Xena to learn some new skills that would allow her to have a more happy and fulfilling life. Jim discussed these goals with me during our evaluation and developed a training plan to help us meet our goals. During the evaluation, Jim covered a wide range of topics in an effort to get to know as much about me and Xena as possible, and welcomed any questions that I had for him. He helped me to understand that even though I recognize Xena’s signals, I may not be communicating that to her. Following each training session, Jim provided me with a summary of what we worked on that day and some ideas for how we may practice our new skills during the week. Moreover, Jim encouraged my parents and boyfriend to attend some sessions with us, as they are also a big part of Xena’s life, and as such they have an important role to play in helping Xena to maintain her new skills. For me and Xena, this holistic approach to training was fundamental to establishing consistency in her training. Jim is a wonderfully smart and patient trainer, and I am so glad that Xena and I had the opportunity to work with him. Jim worked with two of our dogs, Ollie and Bo, and was incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. He answered every question that we had and was kind and patient the whole time. Jim is by far the best dog trainer we have worked with and I have recommended him to my friends and family looking for a trainer in the area.  Before Jim, we worked with a few trainers and none had the calm energy that he did.  Jim worked with my wife and I to develop a plan that was tailored towards our needs (both us and our dogs).  His methods worked great and we noticed a huge difference even after a few sessions with Jim.  We went with the seven session package, and it was the best decision we could have made.  My dogs benefited so much from the structure of the training and we even learned to modify some of their behavior issues during these sessions.  My wife and I just had our first child and we are using Jim to help us with the positive introductions and interactions with our dogs and any guests that we will have stop by in the near future.
