Best vets in Philly. Competitive prices and excellent care. They always take good care of my two cats. One of them had leg surgery there and he has healed wonderfully. They also have really convenient hours.

I was there with my Pomeranian because I noticed a growth under his ear. They were fast in seeing him but also fast to get us out. They said it was not an emergency and that Papi should be seen by his regular vet (closed for two more days) and in the meantime I could call if I had more questions. They didn’t charge me for that quick check, which was nice, but then the next day I called because Papi was clearly not feeling well and in pain and asked if there was pain medicine I could give him to get him more comfortable until his vet appointment the next day. They said I had two options: 1. I could wait to see his vet 2. I could go back through emergency pay $175 and they can prescribe him the meds. The service is very disappointing. I came to get the growth checked out - FULLY checked out, but I left with nothing and then couldn’t even follow up when my dog was clearly not doing well.

Office was very nice and staff were seemingly kind. However, on my first visit for my cat they told me she likely had a life-threatening illness (but would not test her for it) and that she would soon need *all* of her teeth removed (SUPER expensive procedure and painful for my cat). I have since been to two different highly-rated vets who have told me she most likely does not have this condition and has nothing wrong with her gums and teeth and should NOT have teeth removed. If I wouldn't have looked for a second opinion I would have had to pay an insane amount of money and put my cat through so much unnecessary pain. I'd recommend looking elsewhere. This is not meant to be malicious, but a warning for anyone who may experience something similar.

Money hungry place. 4 times over priced compared to other places. Also they will make sure ur bill will always come out on the higher end and some.

I can’t say enough good things about this vet. Our family had to make the choice to put our beloved pig down in December. Everyone at this vet was so accommodating, helpful and loving. It was heartbreaking but they made everything so much easier. They sent us a heartwarming card from all vet staff and Walter’s hoof print. I’m happy we brought him to this vet for this service. Thank you Washington Avenue Vet ❤️

This place is super convenient and I haven't had any issues. The staff is always friendly. I take my dog and rabbits here and always get the help I need. The only issue I have is they seem to overbook and it's A LOT of waiting around. I spend over an hour there for each visit just twiddling my thumbs.

I moved away from the area but still make the drive to WAAH because the vet and techs know my dog so well and we always leave with a good experience

Just want to give a shout out to Angela. I've known her for several years now, and she's always the consummate professional when dealing with me and my two doggos, Noel and Mimi. Friendly and helpful, excellent with follow through. ❤ ????

Brought my new pup here to establish care. Both the technician and Dr. Witt were very thorough with her exam and explaining each part, answering all of my questions so that I felt comfortable as we proceeded.

Washington Ave. Animal Hospital is a great place to bring your pets! I have brought my cat there for specific health concerns and just general wellness exams. The techs and doctors are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and answer every question I have.

I took my dog here for an ear infection and they were able to diagnose and treat her right away. The price was not bad compared to other places. It was very clean and the staff was very nice and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

I brought my dog here because she was pretty much dying (although I didn’t know it until the day after I brought her here and she was lethargic, bleeding from her rectum). A simple glucose test would have told these people “hey, Dr. McFly, her glucose is so high she’s dying,” but no. Rather, they took a sheet and twisted it to make it more like a “log shape”, put it under her hind legs, lifted it and observed her trying to walk. Wouldn’t this be the reaction for any dog? With that one and only “diagnostic test,” they told me she IVDD, an expensive and 9 times out of 10, fatal condition because of the huge expense to treat (Intervertebral disc disease is a condition where the cushioning discs between the vertebrae of the spinal column either bulge or burst into the spinal cord space). I was told most times people put their dogs down that have this condition. Remember, I was told this after they put a sheet under her hind legs and no other testing. I was prescribed two medications she didn’t need and the next morning she was lethargic, barely breathing and bleeding from her rectum. What great care for the low price of $300. They would only let one of us in to tell us our dog was basically dying. Which I get it Covid, but, no suggestions or offerings of including both people present at the appointment? Such as putting the other person on the phone? I thought I was going in to hear a treatment plan and get prescriptions. So my husband wanted to ask the vet a few questions and we were flat out told no, she won’t repeat what she already said. That the vet would have a nurse come “talk to us” who, couldn’t answer his questions. All the nurse did was give basic discharge instructions and couldn’t answer anything. Vet came out to get her next patient completely stone faced, turned and left with her next paycheck. I felt like all of them were the most uncaring, unprofessional and inept “veterinarians” I ever had the displeasure of meeting. They also had this passive aggressive attitude about them where I felt like my dog’s pain and my sadness was a joke. I asked how much a particular procedure would cost for this IVDD. With a smile and nonchalant attitude, like I asked for the price on a bottle of ketchup, the girl says “like $10,000”. “Well, have a great day ????”. I’m not exaggerating that either. And the veterinarian herself wasn’t much better. I was seriously dumbfounded when everything was said and done at the sheer lack of any kind of empathy. The kicker? My dog was diabetic and going into shock and with no treatment would subsequently die. Do they not do vital signs at this office? Or a simple 1850’s style sheet under the hind legs does the trick for these people? My dog does not have IVDD by the way and after I took her to a serious, knowledgeable veterinarian I was given insulin for her. I wouldn’t go to this office for end of life care let alone anything else.

I just moved to Philly and my cat was exhibiting signs of a UTI, I was nervous and unsure of where to go for a new vet. Upon googling vets near me, I discovered Washington Ave Animal Hospital, and gave them a call. They were able to get me in pretty early the next day, which was a miracle - especially since most places aren’t accepting new clients due to Covid. Once we arrived, the front staff was so friendly and helpful, and the entire place was super clean and welcoming. The vet we saw, Dr. West, was super informative and helpful. An amazing experience and I will be bringing my other fur babies here!

it’s so nice to have a lovely vet so close to my home. Parking is not that good but i’ve seen worse. I brought my dog here once for an emergency and decided to make them my main vet. Everyone is friendly and all questions get answered. what more could you ask for?

The staff here was great! During covid it seemed impossible to find a emergency vet actually open to walk-ins. Everything near me is appointments only. They took very good care of my cat Oliver. And they gave me his medicine and even a sample of some food to put him on. Thank you so much to the people who work here!

We had a great experience here. 2 actually. My first visit my dog broke out in a bad case of hives. You could see results before we even left the facility. Every one is so friendly and informative. 2nd visit was for an all over screening lab test and shots. We were In and out in about a half hour including wait time. I really like it here and I appreciate the effort these people put into our Pets!

I can only speak to the front desk and exotics care team here, but they have been so helpful and compassionate with my pet rats, including when it came time to put my oldest girl to sleep.
