2 months ago....Spent 10 mins on hold, only to spend another 15 mins just to provide my basic contact info because the lady kept talking over me. She didn't seem too happy to be taking the call in the first place. After she got all my info, she said that she was transferring me to the girl that processes payments because there's a $50 fee collected in order to hold the appointment. "DON'T YOU THINK YOU SHOULD'VE TOLD ME THAT BEFORE I WASTED 25 MINUTES ON THE PHONE WITH YOU BEING RUDE???" She needs to improve her customer service skills big time and this place needs to change their process to advise people ahead of time of the fee. I had no problem with the fee, but I was in my car and my credit card was at home. WASTE OF TIME. I ended up getting my cat an appointment for the next day at the vet's office instead of the following week at this place and no I had no upfront fee.

This place is absolutely, positively awful. I wanted to stick with it after the change in ownership, especially because I had a chronically I'll pet with complex medical needs. It didn't feel like it was an option, so I ignored the awful service, the exorbitant prices, the ridiculous policies implemented without not much thought or care for customers. I also stayed because despite the new pricing-gouging ownership, the techs were all particularly kind and great with my pet. I always tried to prioritize their needs because even if I'm annoyed, their comfort is a small sacrifice. But I've had enough. Stick a fork in me. After being asked to yell my card number into my phone, on a busy street, while the Girard trolley rambles by, I realized that it's just not enough. Any other payment option would have been more appropriate, electronic payment anything. Instead, I was offered my pet's records instead - cash or identify theft, those were the options. Oh, and did I say the only reason why I was there was to pick up a 3 month supply of flea meds, so this was definitely time well spent. There are not a lot of affordable options for pet care in Philly, it's convenient, but often feels like a trip to the dentist, expensive and awful at the same time. There are other local businesses to support, and I highly recommend finding one of them. I'm looking right now.

The only problem I have with this place is their check in system is awful. I’ve been here since 9am and am still waiting outside with my cat for my 9am appointment and it’s almost 10am. This is the second time this has happened. Would be a lot better and efficient if we could fill the paperwork out online beforehand that way we could just drop our animals off in the morning for whatever service they need and still get to work on time.

They need to find a person who can be professional when answering the phone. I have been a long time customer and I was treated so rudely I couldn’t believe it. It’s to bad it changed hands because it’s not the same anymore. I wouldn’t take my dog here if I were you. I would find a place that at least shows professionalism.

Dr. Wilkerson and his team do a superb job of treating our aging dogs. They are sensitive both to the needs of the animals as well as the costs associated with treatment and offer alternatives as appropriate. We appreciate their expertise and prompt assistance with our pets' needs.

Still no indoor service. You need to wait outside. Hope that ends soon. Everything else is opened, time for this to go back to normal

Our little dog Oliver has been medicated for seizures for about 7 years now. In that time we’ve been through 3 different veterinary clinics. Girard is by and far our favorite, as they are not only very friendly and personable, but they also make the most effort to provide the best care without prioritizing gouging our finances. We are so happy with this office that we still go there even though we moved out of the city and have a longer than necessary trip to get there. Bravo guys, keep on kickin’ butt!

My dad's a vet but he lives in upstate NY. I come here when I can't get up to see him for free, and the walk-in hours with no fee are awesome. Aside from that, the vet and every other person I've seen here was really competent and friendly. I always call my dad for a second opinion over the phone, and he hasn't disagreed with her prognosis yet. Price isn't bad either. UPDATE Dropping down to 3 stars because the new owner seems to be trying to squeeze every last penny out me.

On such a sad occasion, Girard Veterinary Clinic staff was so kind and empathetic. After my sister's cat had to be euthanized, on the same day seven years after my own pet was. ( in the same room) They treated us with great compassion and kindness , we were truly blessed

Took my cat for the first time today to be checked for a UTI. I called first thing this morning when they opened & was given an appointment for earlier this afternoon. The receptionist, tech, & doctor were all very nice & caring. There was no wait when i arrived & was taken right back. Everything was explained to me during the exam & it turns out my baby Jayde is fine, so they just updated her vaccines at my approval & we were on our way. The cost of everything was very reasonable. Needless to say this will be her new vet from now on.

They're not there just for the money, they really love my Moya, (Chihuahua), they informed me that because I knew for a long time that my Fur baby has been suffering from heart disease that she's at stage 4 on her disease and I should spend the next two weeks and Spoil her and Love, not that I wasn't doing that already, but I guess the doctor figured I needed that time so that I can say goodbye on my own time, so that I can realize that she has to go to heaven and not be in pain and I know that she's going to be with my Mom and my brothers, I Love her so much❤, she's been with me for 14 yrs and they were the best years of my life????....

Albert was great with communicating with me about my cat's needs and future appointments. The service itself, routine check-up and shots, was quick. Due to Covid you will have to wait outside and can't enter the office. They will call you to relay information regarding your pet's visit and payment. This review is based solely on services rendered and communication with this office. The wait time from the scheduled appointment time until someone came outside to actually take my cat in to be seen wasn't too bad.
