We can't say enough about how great Dr. Keim and entire staff have been to us. They have seen us through the loss of two beloved pets and their caring and concern have touched us deeply. They are all just wonderful, wonderful people. Highly recommend!

Capitol Area Animal Medical Center has cared for our five dogs over the last 46 years, and we could not be happier with the way they've treated these beloved members of our family. At present, our cocker spaniel mix is being cared for by Dr. Steven Stake, who goes to great lengths to insure that our senior dog, who is afraid of doctor's visits, is comfortable and calm. And the technicians and receptionists are equally gentle and caring. We love the Capitol Area Animal Medical Center and its staff and wouldn't dream of entrusting the care of our pets to anyone else.

My regular veteranian referred me here due to my cat's eye issue. Staff took wonderful care of my cat and they even helped jump my car when it wouldn't start!

On July 19, 2021 I had to have my precious English Bull Dog of 12 years, Chloe Jae AKA "Tinky Tink" euthanized. The day prior I called in and talked to staff and explained my situation with my beloved dog. The young lady on the phone was so professional and listened to me. She was so understanding and walked me through a painful process that needed to take place. The most painful decision in any pet parent's life. On that day, the staff was so caring and kind. They truly allowed me to grieve the loss of my Chloe Jae and gave me the time I needed with her. The Loving and Caring Vet walked me through the process of euthanizing my sweet Chloe Jae and his caring hands helped her close her precious eyes and so peacefully take her final breath. I now know that she is no longer on pain and she is at rest and in a better place. And, thanks to the Awesome Staff at Capitol Area Animal Medial Center, for letting me, let go, of my little girl. About a week later, in the mail, I received a a very beautiful personalized written sympathy card from the staff. It had a lovely hand written note along with each and every staff signing the note. That card let me know that my Chloe Jae was at peace and respectfully taken care of by Staff. I wish I would have known about this place when I lost my 12 year old cat Jetta Ann AKA "Baby Kitty" literally just a month prior. She truly needed this place and I wish I could have given her what my Chloe Jae received from here. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

Cannot say enough good things about them. They have cared for our two cats, one elderly, since they were babies. Very kind (our elder cat is hardly easy at the vet), gentle and caring personnel. I love that they always have options for us to choose from, thus including us in the treatment process of our furry family members.

I recently had to have two of my cats euthanized and cremated, and the staff involved was totally professional and compassionate.

When I called and made the appointment I specifically said to the person scheduling the appointment that the last time I was there they said my cat would need to be sedated to be seen. She ignored that part of the conversation - no help. When I get there for the appointment - I can’t go in with the cat because of the pandemic rules at the practice (which is fine and understandable). I wasn’t told this in advance and it was pretty upsetting as my cat is sick and I didn’t want to send him in alone. Furthermore because the cat wasn’t sedated (which I will accept some responsibility for) the cat couldn’t get his physical. So an already bad situation is now worse. No matter all the issues - I still paid the 62$ for the visit. It’s upsetting that I was warned by a few other pet owners to not return here. I went back anyway. Rest assured I won’t again. The doctors and vet folks are fine but the front desk just seems to miss the mark on customer service, mannerisms and all.

This practice declaws cats, the most inhumane and unnecessary elective surgery.

Have used this vet for 25 years since moving here from Philadelphia. First 2 vets we saw in Harrisburg were not so good. Knew after first visit to CAAMC that we would never go anywhere else. Dr. Stake and Dr. Keim are particularly recommended! Have never had a tech that wasn't all around wonderful, and the other staff is friendly and efficient. Yes, sometimes have to wait past my appt time, but since they never rush me through an appt, especially when I have questions, assume they do the same for others, which can easily skew the schedule. See some folks on here complaining about prices. I've always found my charges to be reasonable, and also believe that you get what you pay for. So may be cheaper vets, but bet they don't provide the same top notch care CAAMC does! Pics show some of our happy and healthy kitties currently in residence. Thank you CAAMC for helping to give all our cats past and present their best possible lives, from kittenhood to the end!

I've been bringing pets here for years. The waiting room is slightly separated between cats and dogs. Dr Stake is great with animals, especially cats (he's got several of his own). They're also very understanding and compassionate in the more difficult times. I

I haven't seen the regular vets here, only Dr Glickstein the visiting ophthalmologist, but he's amazing and the staff is efficient and sweet.

Dr. Matthew saved my senior cat Cleo’s life and for that I will forever be grateful. Cleo has been suffering from kidney disease for some time. Our former vet never checked his blood pressure and despite my telling them many times his eyes or head appeared to be hurting it was ignored. During Cleo’s first visit with Dr. Matthew he had the most thorough veterinary exam I’ve ever seen done. I then brought him back a few days later for a blood pressure check and discovered that Cleo’s blood pressure was so high his retinas could have detached. I now knew the source of his pain. Dr. Matthew prescribed additional medications to address his blood pressure while others were discontinued and replaced. I’ve been taking Cleo to Dr. Matthew for a little over a year now. He’s doing so much better and is healthy for a senior cat of 17 with kidney disease. His medication regimen is working well and his condition Is stable. Cleo is living out his senior years comfortably which is what we want as pet parents. I also like that Dr. Matthew will combine traditional medicine with alternative. He may suggest a supplement for a particular ailment which I like. He also takes the time to answer my questions and hear my concerns which is extremely important when dealing with a chronic condition in an animal. The staff who work here at the front and in the back are also very kind, gentle, and care for your animals. I’ve had nothing but excellent customer service from everyone who works here. Cleo will continue to see Dr. Matthew and be a patient of Capitol Area Animal Medical Center.

Dr. Stake is an unbelievable vet!! I trust him 1000% with my dachshund, Izzy, and my cat, Kotyk. We have been going here over 10 years and he has cared for many pets for us. Best vet practice I’ve ever used, last one I will ever use! Can’t speak highly enough of the level of care, compassion, and support they have provided to us over the years.

I have been going to medical center since we adopted Snoopy in 2019. The staff is very passionate about the care of all the pets. When Snoopy got sick on Christmas eve, I was instructed to bring him in right away. They did a thorough check on him and forward his information to the Vet hospital just in case his condition got worse.
