It’s really disheartening when an individual calls for any type of help when their pet may be dying and because this establishment was a busy emergency center and did not treat my animal they could only refer me over two hours away and couldn’t be bothered to help me provide any sort of comfort measures to my dying pet.

I am incredibly grateful for this Staff, the vet and Jenn! My dog wouldn't of made it if it weren't for them! His bladder ruptured & because his previous vet did a half a** job . They kept me informed and Jenn even sent me pictures of him …

Apparently they care more about themselves than our pets. They are never open when you need them and when they are they convince you not to come with their 12 hour wait times. They charge a fortune when you do get to see them and seem …

Last night my dog at a small box of raisins which is obviously an extreme emergency. It was Christmas Eve and when I called around 5 pm the girl told me they were closing and couldn't help. We had to drive over an hour away to another hospital. Only to find out two hours later on Facebook that they were open until 7 pm. They lied to me so I wouldn't bring my pet in need. We called again this morning (Christmas morning) to see if we could schedule a best time to do a renal check for his kidneys so we wouldn't have to drive another hour on Christmas and they said they're "at capacity" I don't know why this office is even open because I'm not sure they're actually helping any pets.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE If I could give zero stars I would. This place is an absolute nightmare. Our dog was attacked in the middle of the night and we brought him in. They took over 2 hours to assess him and didn’t give us any updates. I had to constantly go in to find out what was happening. After assessing him (keep in mind they didn’t even take x rays at this point!… 2 HOURS!!!) they rudely started spitting out prices at us in order to move forward. We would pay anything for our pup, but their bedside manner was beyond shameful. We give the go ahead to proceed and another 4 hours go by with no word. I went in to use the bathroom and heard the staff laughing and chatting behind the walls. I again had to demand to speak to a doctor to find out what was happening. They lead us into a room where we continued to wait. Finally we speak to the doctor and we are told his 5 puncture wounds are just surface scratches and he didn’t need stitches. His spine was damaged and we were looking at $20k surgery, possible paralysis and therefore an immediate trip to Cornell or UPenn…. only after confirming we were okay paying the discussed price. Again, all they cared about was the money- not even tending to his puncture wounds by so much as covering them up… our pup was continuing to bleed with his guts hanging out. And yet they did nothing. By this point it was 8am (the nightmare began before midnight) and our regular vet had finally called us back. We went to see him immediately. Turns out our dog’s puncture wounds were damaging his stomach lining and he needed IMMEDIATE SURGERY. After stitching him up; our vet put him on a few different meds and explained everything to us every step of the way - Dr. John Ober (Candor Animal Care)- you are the best vet that’s ever existed! Our dog is on the mend, he can actually walk- it will be a long road to recovery, but we are making progress every day. This place should not exist. The staff is unprofessional, have the worst bedside manner, and misdiagnosed and could have killed our dog. Shame on them and everyone who works there. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

Were angry that we didn't schedule an appointment for our dog's emergency visit. They were horribly rude and couldn't be bothered. Won't be back. Please don't respond because they is no excuse for chiding my daughter for bringing our dog for emergency care, but then being spoken to like a fool for thinking you could offer care on an emergent basis.

The staff at VREC could not be more professional, caring and helpful during our most difficult time. While we had to make the heart wrenching decision to let our beloved cat Bella cross the Rainbow Bridge, we will never forget the compassion and care the staff provided not only then, but also in the beautiful and touching sympathy card we received later with the many hand written notes of condolences. Thank You everyone at VREC.

This is a horrible place with no compassion. Twice in the past 4 months ive needed an off hours vet. I called them and both times was told that, yes, they were open but not taking any more patients because they were full. No questions of is it an emergency, is it urgent. Just no! They should not be able to call themselves or advertise themselves as an emergency vet. Please, someone open a REAL emergency center and put this place out of business!

I'm sure these are just marvelous people, but I have yet to see one of their ads that states that they are ALWAYS open and available 24/7 , EXCEPT when we've decided by noon that we have had enough for today and can't really be bothered with whatever seems to be killing your animal at this particular time.

Very compassionate people. Took excellent care or our little dog prior to having to put him to sleep.

This place should not advertise that they provide service 24/7. My puppy was hit with a tractor and we brought her in to this “24/7” establishment to get immediate care, like they say they provide. We were told they weren’t taking new patients at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. I asked if they would just look at her to give an opinion and they would not. If you need immediate care definitely call ahead. We wasted 45 minutes driving there just to be turned away. On the other hand, we called our horse vet Northwinds, who are not open on Sundays, and both veterinarians beat us to their office and took X-rays of her letting us know what was going on.

I had reasons to visit VREC over the past few years due to emergencies. These were always handled with extreme professionalism and caring. My most recent visit was for Euthanasia. The staff were caring and thoughtful and guided me through one of the most difficult times with compassion and professionalism. I could not recommend their care any higher either in life or death of a loved pet. My various phone calls and requests were handled with courtesy and they made space for me in the middle of their busy schedules. I hope to not have to visit them again but would do so if i needed their services. These are not normal times and yet the care my buddy and I received were exceptional..

Wonderful staff at this facility. Very kind on the phone. Very compassionate in person. I highly recommend them. My dog passed away and I had her cremated here. She had passed on the weekend it’s great they are open weekends. Everything they did was above and beyond I left there sad but so happy with what I received in my package.

They do great work. They truly care and are very respectful but it’s no longer an emergency vet and referral clinic it’s a normal every day vets office that closes nightly and re open in the morning. There for it’s a vet!

My girl, an 11 year old Belgian Malinois, was acting strange and I immediately thought bloat. I called all my local vets to no avail (it was a Saturday). I finally got through to someone at Cornell who said they could not take her and recommended either Clark’s Summit or Syracuse. I loaded my girl up and headed south as I heard good things about VREC. Thank god I brought her there, my girl had pyometra and had to get into surgery immediately. The crew was amazing as I was a wreck. Highly recommend these group of kind and companionate people

Strongly recommend you take your animal here. No other vet was taking any animals. So I called here. She let us know to bring her right down and call when we got there. Beats the ER vet in plains by a long shot. Staff super nice and got us in and out within an hour despite being busy. My dogs doing a lot better with medication now and is slowly but surely recovering. Thank you guys for reassuring me shes gonna be okay. Cheaper than most Emergency vets ive taken pets to.

I had to put my 17 yr old cat Izzie down. When I called them they were extremely sweet on the phone. I was able to come in right away. When I arrived they were extremely sympathetic and let me have as much time as I wanted to have with her before and after they put her down for me. A few days after I even received a card Signs by everybody in the office sending their condolences. The staff at this Hospital goes above and beyond. I highly recommends them. Thank you for making this horrible situation much easier on me.

Five stars hands down. From the first phone call to discharge...it's hard not to feel like just a number in today's world, but each person we spoke with at the ER Center was caring and compassionate. Curbside can be nerve wracking when you're handing over a sick furbaby, but they kept us informed and updated every step of the way. If we are ever in need of emergency care again, the one hour drive is 100% worth it. Thank you for caring for our baby ❤ and thank you for ALL you do. Y'all are true rockstars.

This place is AMAZING. We live in NJ and drive 2.5 hours just for our German Shorthaired Pointer to be seen here. Our 6 YRO was very sick back in August and was seen at a place down by where we live. I left in tears and thought my dog was not going to make it. After talking to my breeder, she recommended we bring him here. The staff here is always so friendly in the office and over the phone. The internal medicine department has done such a wonderful job in treating my dog. He is on his way to becoming healthy and his numbers have improved drastically. Unlike other vets, they actually care about your pet, and its not just a money scheme. Thank you so much for helping my dog Drake. I highly recommend bringing your pet here.

When I first went to Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Clarks Summit in Jan 2021, my sweet baby boy Merlot was so sick it was uncertain how long I would have him in my life. Today, he is the happiest, hungriest, and most playful, loving dog...and I owe all my heartfelt thanks to the staff at VREC. Dr. Clendaniel is an amazing surgeon who gave my dog his life back. The staff treat us like family and we love them so much. I highly recommend this facility for Emergency and surgical care needs of your pet ❤

If you think your pet is having an emergency, call them now. They will help you figure it out. Their ER services are such a relief to have in the area! My late night wait time truly wasn’t that bad considering the nature of my cat’s situation and the screening he needed. I was very grateful to have them available on a Monday night when my regular vet was closed, and I hope I did a good enough job letting them know how appreciative I felt that they were working overnight shifts for the sake of area pets, and for the care they gave my cat, Matty. Matty needed continued tests and exams in the following weeks, and they were easy to schedule with and were extremely kind and patient anytime I called with a silly question. They cared for him greatly, I could tell, and I felt like they were also very compassionate with me. Their prices look high, but they are FAIR. It is a high-tech facility, with educated and capable staff, and they provide a high-demand service—for all that, there was really not much sticker shock on my end. It was exactly as much as I expected. No hidden fees or bogus-looking charges. A few other people I know have also visited this hospital and also have only nice things to say. Everyone noted how compassionate they were.

I truly hope if your pet does not need a vet in a emergency The people at this place are a disgrace and don’t care about you or your fur baby not one person in this place even tried to help us when our dog was attacked and bleeding in there parking lot they literally did not care and refused to even try and help because there was no dr there so my dog did not make it to plains be bleed to death before we made it there where they told me I had to go because they refused but yet they say they live animals someone could of at least tried I would never recommend them in a emergency RIP Roscoe
