Been taking all of my animals here for years. My parents have been taking their animals here for over 20 years. Great people and a great place. It’s not super fancy which I love. Just really really good vet. I will never take my animals anywhere else.

"I'm not sure how you can have a pleasant experience with a business that won't even look at your 8" tall, 7 week old puppy for something as simple as vaccines!!!, Let alone trying to ask them to look at something more serious as her eating little to nothing for almost 6 days.. Well, I contacted this veterinary clinic because it came highly recommended for being caring, friendly and dedicated. "I have a 7 week old puppy who needs her shots. But, she has also more concerningly recently decided she doesn't need to eat.... anything.... ever.... Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to discuss that with the clinic. Because when I called them, one of the first things they asked me was if I was a current client. when I said no but that we would like to be since they're so close and so highly recommended and I have a brand new puppy that is having issues and also needs her shots, how to work a s.hitty schedule and I don't have a lot of time off to get things taken care of. I was told that they absolutely aren't accepting any new clients at all and was basically pushed off towards some new vet clinic somewhere else in town that's much farther away that I have heard nothing about... I was seriously trying to support the small local veterinary clinic as opposed to trying to go to the corporate big box stores, because I thought and heard that they were more caring and much more about the little guy, I guess I was wrong... I won't make that mistake again ..

Amazing, caring vet and staff! Definitely not in it for the money. Remodeled floors make a big difference! Alex is an amazing assistant and very knowledgeable! I hope Dr Swart doesn't retire anytime soon! ❤️

Dr. Swart is an amazing vet. He is very thorough and gentle. He will make home visits and always takes time to answer questions. They have animals they care for as well. We've been going for 20 years. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Steve is the very best in Salem. He is not in it for the buck. He cares about your animals. Alex is also a big help. I'm glad we have him to depend on.

The doctor and the staff are very knowledgeable very helpful. unfortunately the clinic itself is very very old and smells of urine sometimes. it would take a major remodel to rip up the floors and replace all of that then it wouldn't be so affordable

I've been taking my dog's here for 26+ years and they're the best! They always treat you and your animal with the best of care & will ensure they try everything possible as necessary. They aren't interested in making money first, your fur baby's wellness is all that matters!!

Great people, good prices. The whole staff loves what they do and treats your pets like family. Can't say enough about the clinic. They aren't accepting any new patients at the moment.

If your dog is sick they won't put it down, instead they will give you false hope and say that the dog has way longer to live and the best thing is to not put her down. Then you will pay more than $100 in medicine for your dog just for the dog to die that night. They dont care about your dogs wellbeing they care about their own even thought vets are supposed to put the animals first. AND we took her 2 days in a row the first day he didnt even take her temperature, the second day he did and she had a super high fever. The first day we asked if she was in pain he replied with "eh shes uncomfortable", on the second day we had to make a makeshift stretcher with a sheet because she couldn't even walk. He had to come out to the car to look at her. I am absolutely appalled by the service here.

Great no frills vet! Great with animals, even after getting clawed by my cat who thought he was a lion...

Steve is the best vet ever! He is compassionate, knowledgeable and truly loves animals. Alex is a super star too. She always takes the time to answer my questions and concerns. I appreciate they don't try to up sell. Prices are affordable. Thank you ????

Dr. Swart and his staff have taken care of our dogs for years. Recently, our Whippet became very ill and ultimately passed away. Dr. Swart's office took great care of her over the last week of her life. In the day when care and compassion are trumped by upcharges and needless tests, we are very thankful for Capitol Vetrinary Clinic.
