Amazing organization that provides excellent, really high quality often organic pet food that I have needed for the past 3 months before I got the green light to start the next job after an unexpected zoning issue that pushed the fate back and as a business owner. I don't get benefits and die to Covid, my savings were depleted massively but my dog eats good and is healthy & happy which is a huge relief! I love my dog . My dog is my family . I cannot praise the good people at Pongo high enough!

Things have been unpredictable lately to say the least & I ended up having a series of unfortunate circumstances hit all at once leaving me for the 1st time ever as a pet owner in a position where I could not afford to feed my 10 year old cat. I can tell you that realization was more shameful for me than any other loss, problem or deficit I have ever faced. Thankfully I found The Pongo Fund by Googling pet food banks & I contacted them. They responded the next day & were really encouraging, helpful & put me at ease. I was asked questions about my cat, Polly, her diet, dietary needs & preferences, then Pongo Fund gave me a date & time to pick up food & litter too! The food she was given was all very high quality mostly organic pet food in a variety flavors that she has enjoyed & her coat has never been softer! I just found out I got the job I'd hoped for so beginning 12/20/21 if the company is orienting people that week otherwise it will be after the 1st of the year meaning we may need help again & knowing Pongo Fund will help is something that I'm truly grateful exists & believe we are so blessed to have here in Portland where people care so much about pets that they created a foodbank to help feed them when the unexpected happens. It has made all the difference to Polly & me, I don't know what I'd do without her. Thank you Pongo Fund !!

The Pongo Fund has helped me tremendously during this very tough time in my life that I'm going through. both medically and financially , by providing quality food for my dogs and cat. I'm not one that reaches out normally for assistance with anything. But thanks to the great lady "Sue" that I met a couple months ago in similar situation as I am , she said that I should reach out to Pongo , that they can help feed my fur babies. I'm forever greatful to you

I’ve never been good at asking for help, and it’s been extra hard the last year and a half. In the past I’ve always been able to skimp on stuff for myself but still afford food for my pup. But, the last few months things went from bad to dire. I was lucky to hear about the Pongo Fund through the Work Source employment department and I’m so glad I gave them a call! There were no crazy hoops to jump through, and no one made me feel bad for asking for help. In fact, they were all quite pleasant and, once I was able to go into their food bank, the process took hardly any time at all! I got a huge bag of food for my dog, he’s got a full belly and it’s one less thing I have to stress about this month!

2021 has been a year full of challenges for me. I have not held a job this year because of needing to prioritize my mental health. With very limited funds I have just scraped by until recently when I exhausted all I have. Because of this, I had no more money for cat food. After speaking with the Oregon Humane Society I was given information for The Pongo Fund. I was shocked not to have heard of them before, so I visited their website and learned they help people in a variety of situations including the homeless, elderly, veterans, and those in situations similar to mine where the lack of an income may only be temporary. I also learned they do monthly pet food drives and I was in luck as the next food drive was just a few days away. So, I left a voicemail for them and received a quick call back which was a positive start. From there I was able to get an appt on 11/21/21. I was nervous to go because of the stigma around receiving help and the feeling that it can make one feel less than. I have never had to seek outside help on this level before. The process of receiving cat food was really easy and they were so kind. The Pongo Fund carries items that are the best of the best and they worked with me to find something similar to what my cats usually eat. I was not turned away just because they didn't have my cats normal brand, and that was a relief because when you have nothing and the process of asking for help ends with no solution it can make it hard to try again. I highly recommend that you reach out to The Pongo Fund whenever you need help. And if my cats could talk, they would say the same thing because they have become obsessed with their new food! I'm looking forward to the day when I can give back my time and energy to help repay them for their kindness. Thank you!

I called because I needed cat food, and thought I could find help here. I received more than I thought I would. I spoke with a volunteer named David and it was the best phone call I've made this month. He was a wealth of information, and I am so grateful I made this call. It's never easy asking for help, but I never felt looked down on or judged. He just wanted to help. I received amazing resources which I will use and I know that I can always call this place when I need help. Thank you!

I would like to say for those who are in a bad place i life, out of work on government assistance, social security, SNAP etc, have pets and need supplemental food assistance like I do that reaching out for help to feed your cat(s) or dog(s) is nothing to be embarrassed about I would be in a much worse situation physically and mentally if I hadn’t discovered the Pongo Organization. I even ride Max 1hr 35 mins each way to get the support I need and it is pretty easy to get there via Max once you’ve gone once. So, if you find yourself choosing between eating yourself or feeding your pets please reach out to The Pongo Fund and stop having to worry and having to decide.

Absolutely phenomenal. Emailed this morning because circumstances have put us in need and I got a call back within like 10 minutes. Not only would they just be able to help us with feeding him - they gave him his specific food he normally eats. I'm beyond grateful and recommend them to ANYone struggling to feed their animal. Thank you so much to all those at the Pongo Fund. Percy and I are incredibly thankful for your help.

PONGO fund is an amazing place to get help for your animals diet. They are knowledgeable, informative, and FRIENDLY- because they want to make sure that we, as pet owners, are doing what’s best for our animals. They donated to me extremely high end dog food to help stop my dogs food allergies. I am extremely grateful to the PONGO fund. So please, don’t be afraid to call them and see what kinds of help they have available for you and your pet. I’m so glad I did! %100 recommendation!

I would like to start off this review by saying. If I could give The Pongo Fund a 100 stars I would..and honestly I feel like that still would not be enough. I wish I could go and hug every single person who made this happen. The Pongo Fund, Mr. Larry, The Volunteers, and every single person who has ever donated to this program. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. Because without all of you. My Little wouldn’t have this fighting chance she does today. I recently found out my chihuahua has a mass on her heart. After a visit with her normal veterinarian.. I was told she would need to see a Veterinary Cardiologist to assess this mass further and figure out what our next steps were to make Little better. (I was told by her Veterinarian that If she was not able to see a cardiologist.. she would unfortunately need to be put to sleep once her symptoms became to severe.) I am on disability. So I could not afford taking little to a cardiologist. And let me tell you.. not being able to provide this for my dog honestly is one of the most helpless feelings I’ve ever felt. That day I searched the internet for any kind of financial assistance I could find for people with disabilities. That is when I came across The Pongo Fund. It was then after reading over all these wonderful things The Pongo Fund does for our communities that I came across veterinary care on their website. It was there that I filled out a questionnaire about my dog and emailed it to The Pongo Fund. Within only a few days I got a call from the Founder of The Pongo Fund. Mr. Larry was so kind, so caring and very compassionate. You can tell he has so much love for animals. And within honestly a days time.. My dog Little has a full exam scheduled with a Cardiologist. I would like to tell Mr. Larry, The Pongo Fund, all the volunteers and anyone else involved with this organization...You are all ANGELS on this earth. You gave my Little something no one else could. You gave her time. I thank each and every one of you from the very bottom of my heart. And when I am able too. I promise to pay it forward. Mr. Larry.. Your kindness is something I will never forget. Thank you so very much. Anyone out there reading this.. Don’t be afraid to reach out to The Pongo Fund. I was scared when I first reached out. I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know if I would hear from anyone. But the kindness and grace I received from Mr. Larry and The Pongo Fund. Like I said before is something I will never forget. *-Also I would like to add..If there are any organizations or individuals looking to donate. Please donate to The Pongo Fund. This is a amazing organization that helps people. Just like they say on their website. “Because sometimes we could all use a little extra help.”-*

I recently fell into poverty and brought two cats along with me. They mean so much to I couldn’t bare to loose them too. I was going hungry at times struggling to make sure they were fed. Then we found the Pongo Fund. They showed so much concern for their well being and matching up foods with their needs. Both of my girls are doing well now and I’m so grateful to this organization and staff. If you can help this is beyond a worthy cause. If your pets are in need, then this place you can trust to call for help. I can’t thank them enough for assisting us during a difficult time. We now all have a roof over our heads with full bellies. Most importantly, we get to stay together;) Thank you so much to the Pongo Fund and team!

The Pongo Fund has been an incredible help to my kitten and me. After I lost my only income, and then my housing, I was not able to get my kitten the veterinary care he needed. I reached out to the Pongo Fund after finding information on their website about spay/neuter assistance. They were highly compassionate and were able to get me connected to a vet and cover the costs of neutering my kitten and getting his vaccinations. I wouldn't have had access to this very important care for my cat, if it hadn't been for them. The Pongo Fund has also provided high quality pet food to the shelter my kitten and I live at. They do amazing work and I am so grateful for their support in helping me keep my furry best friend happy and healthy during these difficult circumstances.

Thanks to Larry Chusid, the Pongo Fund & all the wonderful voulunteers, I was able to feed my lab Ceili Dancer & keep her home with our family She saved my husband's life when he had a heart attack in one part of the house alone! She started barking & barkingsav, alerting us to his heart attack! Because of her, he got to the hospital in time! My food cart closed this year & have struggled to get my unemployment sorted out. I had no choice but to use this service & can’t say enough good things about this service. They made sure to do their best to match my regular dog food, made sure I knew the difference & how to slowly incorporate the food into her diet. If you need help to feed your pet, this is the place to go.

The Pongo fund has been a real easy set up process, the staff is incredibly helpful and passionate. Even though the allergy is fairly common (grains like wheat) they have assured me that the food provided will absoultly fill the dietary needs.

I have been treated with the utmost respect. Never under suspicion. I first signed up when I filed bankruptcy. Still had a car and roof over my head but really no cash flow. I never felt the need to plea that my cat was important to me and deserving. I was astonished it is the best kind of food for the kitty. Even after a name change they continued to file me through to completion. Everyone with a pet who has come to a cash flow problem seek their help now. THANK YOU for serving those deserving of recognition and love.

Pongo has been so good to my mother. They have helped with food and resources. They are all so sweet and caring. They treat us like family, always asking how my wife and kids are, and always asking for an update on my mom. I can't say enough about this organization. They truly are wonderful!
