Our family had an amazing experience with Chris and his staff for our last two puppies. He trained our first one and she was amazing and well behaved her whole life.. our next pup is a husky and she came home well trained but regressed a bit so she went back for remedial training.. has been a wonderful well behaved doggo since. I recommend Chris to all of my friends.

I'm writing this review in regard to the two week board and train. First off, Chris is extremely accommodating. He was able to get me in asap to address a few concerns I had with my dog, Charlie. Charlie was anxious, aggressive towards strangers, and lacked basic obedience among a few other things. I tried training him myself, but our current living environment proved to be too overwhelming for Charlie and I needed a quick fix to control Charlie's behavioral issues. I'm happy to say with the training Charlie received and the guidance Chris gave me, Charlie is more confident and relaxed around strangers. (as a lab should be!) While Charlie still shows some anxious behavior on walks, his self-control is leaps ahead of where he used to be, and seems to get better each time I walk him. I can even let him out on my porch without him barking at my neighbors, and the various sounds in my apartment building don't bother him a bit either, which (was) a huge problem for me. Overall, what UniversityK9 was able to accomplish in two weeks is pretty much what I had hoped, and I'm honestly astounded how quickly a dog can change in two weeks. I could tell Charlie had a blast while he was there, and was definitely in great hands. I highly recommend this place if you're on either a budget or a tight schedule (or both like me!).

Chris and his Team are a God send for us and our 53 pound dog that pulled us everywhere on the leash as she would chase cats or squirrels, we felt we had no control of the situation????. Our dog wouldn’t let us answer our own door because of her barking and excitement it would take forever to be able to open the door. She would jump all over us and other people due to excitement. We couldn’t stop it. After Chris and his great Team were done Training our dog Brandy. She has become a much calmer dog. Through Chris and his professional training She NOW responds to commands that WE GIVE HER! Pure delight for us.She is not jumping onto us anymore she does not run to the door barking, SHE DOES NOT CHASE CATS OR SQUIRRELS. She leaves them COMPLETELY ALONE on our command‼️ She comes when she’s called‼️‼️ KUDOS AND A BIG THANK YOU TO CHRIS AND HIS TEAM‼️

This place is absolutely incredible! We took a chance with our girl and weren’t sure what to expect, but I have to say we are blown away. Roxy came back a different dog as far as her behavior. Still our sweet and loving girl, but SO much more obedient. She also came back more calm and confident. It is pretty amazing! A HUGE thank you to Chris and his staff. We appreciate what you did for us and will be referring you to anyone in need of dog training!

This was our second attempt on having our dog trained as another local training place we took him to, gave up 30 minutes into having him. Chris made the impossible with our German shepherd/wolf mix. He never gave up in the process and pulled through. Simba is a well behaved dog now and we couldn't be any more pleased with the process. Thank you Chris and your staff for helping us out.

I just took my 2nd dog here and Chris worked his magic. Before, my dog would run off whenever I open the door and would not come when called. But now he listens incredibly well. Chris and his team worked with his off leash training and now I am able to walk my dog without the need of a leash and he would walk by my side. The prices here is very affordable. My 6 month old puppy did the 2 week boarding with K9 University. I would recommend this place for sure!

I have been with Chris for 8 years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. We use him for both training and temporary boarding. My 8 year old German Shepherd is an extremely aggressive dog and I bought him to protect our farm when we are gone. Chris trained him so that I would have absolute control of him and I certainly do. Rebbell is now perfect for what I got him for thanks to Chris. I just retrieved my 2nd dog from a training session (two weeks) with Chris. He is a one year old Great Pyrenees and has gone from a completely out of control puppy to a well mannered adult. He guards my horse and pigs but responds immediately to my commands. What a different, and now very useful, working dog he has become in only two weeks. I do use the two-dog Dogtra collars that Chris recommended and 8 years later my first one is as good as my second one. I have and will recommend University K9 to everybody I know. It is the best place I've found and I have 40 years of experience with large working dogs.

Our Aussie Doodle had so much energy and was resistant and dropping training. One of our housemates wanted to give the dog away because of so much nuisance barking. Two weeks at University K9 was almost magical. When we picked her up, Chris walked us thru the training and techniques, and she was so well behaved. When we got home, she tested some of the new training but immediately accepted the new boundaries. It was worth more than we spent to have a well behaved family member.

Chris is absolutely AMAZING. I sent my 10month old Lab to him for his 2 week board and train to shape up some behaviors he was struggling with- and what I came back to was an incredible dog- still the same fun and loving boy I sent away!! He’s stopped jumping on people almost entirely, he doesn’t bark, doesn’t go after distractions on walks, and he is so so well behaved now. I sent him to Chris because Atlas, my dog, was in training to be a service dog, but there were just some things I couldn’t fix on my own. Now I have a dog who will sit calmly in a restaurant, stay in a heel throughout the store, and relax when I need him to. If you can save your money and budget this in, Chris will turn your dog into one you enjoy having around ❤️

I picked my 2.5 year old German Shepherd (Taco) up from the 2 week board and train program at Universityk9 yesterday. Taco has always been an anxious boy and got distracted/acted out easily and wasn’t the greatest at walking on a leash prior to his training. I noticed Tacos confidence has greatly improved and he now keeps his attention on me - he’s now an exceptional listener since returning home. Something I didn’t think would ever happen - he now walks on a loose leash with ease and I feel comfortable walking him off leash in public places! Today we went on a off leash 2 mile walk on some relatively busy trails with many distractions and Taco stayed right by my side the whole time. What’s even more impressive to me is that I VERY seldomly need to correct him with his new E-Collar (He’s a pretty stubborn guy). I will absolutely be bringing my 8 week old German Shepherd puppy to Chris when she grows up a little and recommend UniversityK9 to friends and family. Thanks again Chris!

Updated review: While UniversityK9 helped with introducing the e-collar and basic commands, I now see they weren't the right place for my dog. My dog had a hard time listening and never walked on a leash without pulling. He is a very anxious dog in general. Craig and his team worked wonders on him. He's still learning and we practice everything every day but we wouldn't have gotten to this point without University K9.

My sweet baby girl, Olive is transformed. We just picked her up from being at University K9 for the two week training and she did fantastic. It was so good to see her so genuinely happy. I could tell she enjoyed her time with Chris and the rest of the crew because her tail was SWINGING! She walks like a dream now with no pulling whatsoever. I can't say enough good things are Chris, his crew, and University K9!

We were very happy with the quality of care our dogs received at University K9. Chris was very helpful and our dogs wagged their tails on arriving and departing. Thanks!

Worth every penny! My Drogon made a 180 in his bad habits and mannerisms! Before he would bark very aggressively at all men and now he greets them! Walking use to be a chore for he would pull and never walk by my side - now he walks right next to me and if he does get ahead all I need to do is say his name and he'll wait for my to catch up. Off leash trained now too! He comes to me when called and rarely do I need to call him twice. I am so happy with my decision to go through UniversityK9! Chris is wonderful and is always available to answer my follow up questions/training for Drogon. Thank you for the wonderful work and dedication you do!

Chris is amazing! Both my dogs have received training from him starting in 2016. We followed him to the new location to keep up their socialization and have referred many friends who have difficult dogs with excellent results. I wouldn't be able to take my dogs everywhere with me if it wasn't for him. I'm evacuated due to the fire and my dogs are sound asleep. They listen, adapt to changing environments and know how to handle themselves.

Zena is a 93 lb lab/shepherd and very strong. She already had basic training before I rescued her at 4 yrs old, but when she focused on a small animal (squirrel, cat, dog) she would charge ahead and I couldn’t hold her. She went to UniversityK9 for 2 weeks and came back a different dog but maintained her sweet and loving personality! She now walks on loose leash and even off leash! This morning I discovered 2 more calm new traits: while walking this morning, a cat jumped out and ran down the street. I just quietly said “no” and she stayed next to me. The second thing happened this afternoon. She was laying at the sliding door to patio when a squirrel appeared on the patio right in front of her. She was alert but didn’t go crazy and almost through the door like before!

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND .. We had our two dogs trained two years ago and we were told any follow up training they would come to us. Its been two years and we haven't needed that service until now. When we called we were told by Chris that we would need to bring the dog to them, That Craig just liked to drive and that's why he is no longer with them. Our friends also had their two dogs trained at the same time, they had since used the service and Craig gladly came to their home. I have left messages no return calls

My experience with this place was horrible. I was so traumatized by all it, it took me a year to write this review. Without retelling my entire sad tale, I will just tell you why it would be best to avoid this place. The training is All e-collar (shock collar) for EVERY dog. (I am not against an e- collar when needed) The initial consultation was in no way thorough or in anyway related to MY dogs needs. Very few questions, very little interest in the actual dog. There is obviously a routine they follow for everyone. They also would not show me where the dogs would be kept for the 3 weeks. After dropping him off, I sat down the street and had a small anxiety attack because my gut was telling me not to leave him. It was my first dog, so I left him and trusted that he would be ok. (lots of great reviews) I visited twice a week every week (3 weeks) and each time the only change I saw was that he was more anxious, skinnier and a bit frantic. When I picked him up to take him home at the end of the 3 weeks, I found that they had not given him his antibiotic as directed or as promised. At checkin, the guy showed me a bunch of pill bottles on a counter and said "we give lots of meds, no problem". They gave back a half full bottle of antibiotics that should have been gone after a week and a half. So, he came home sick and with kennel cough (a new symptom) and they told me "all dogs get it, it's normal". Dogs do get kennel cough and it can be serious and spread easily. I should have been told BEFORE I came to get him. How many other dogs in there were sick? They then took me to the parking lot , put a collar on him and showed me how to use vibrate and shock to get him to do basics like sit and walk and lay down. The pick up session was explained to me to be an hour or so long meeting to walk through everything he learned with me so I fully understood how to work with him. It was maybe 15 minutes. The trainer was completely uninterested, he rushed trough everything, and sent me on my way. I came home with a collar I wasn't sure about, an anxious dog who learned nothing more than a few basic commands and a sick stomach. Not to mention the money...He was essentially in a crate all day until it was his turn for "training". I had to hire another trainer and started over. It took me months do what this place claims to do in 3 weeks. This place is sterile, militant, expensive, impersonal, uncommunicative, and uninterested. This is NOT a place for an average person with a new pet to get any help. I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO STAY AWAY. UPDATE: Despite your response to my review , it s not fake, nor am I a "troll". NOT ALL NEGATIVE REVIEW ARE FAKE, THEY ARE SIMPLY NEGATIVE. My dog Bowie was there June 6th 2017-June 23 2017. If my experience had been as you described everyone's experience to be, my review would have been different. I have nothing personally against you or Craig. Its unfortunate that you attack me (an every other negative reviewer) and call me a liar instead of asking questions that might help you understand my experience. I stand by my experience and my review.

I have had multiple friends use this training facility and had great results. My wife took our dog here a month or so ago for the board and train and apparently they have switched trainers to the owner named Chris, we didn't like the training or service our dog came back worse then before and super skinny. This place was very good I have seen the results from the last trainer (forgot his name) but the new trainer Chris is not a good trainer don't take your dog here not worth the money.

Our family has 2 dogs that we sent to Chris for board and train. Our dogs were off the hook with their behaviors. From barking, jumping, growl, lack all basic commands. We were under the guidance of positive reinforcement were the best camp …

Over the last 5 years I have had Chris Ford and company train all 3 of my dogs and would never trust anyone else. My dogs were all difficult but my Jack Russel (Penny) was absolutely out of control. She would run away as soon as the door was cracked open and chase anything that moved. University K9 was able to achieve off leash control with her and she no longer bolts. There are other dog training kennels near my home but I make the extra drive for the training and we use them for overnight boarding. Chris has always been responsive when I call or text and he is always able to get us scheduled. I would highly recommend University K9 for training or boarding services!

I brought my dog, Bruno, to K9 University for board and training but I left in tears with my dog. I was told by the owner that I had to euthanize my Bruno because he was too aggressive and a liability. I understand the liability but the suggestion was ridiculous and unprofessional. It's ok, I didnt give up on Bruno and found a different place for him to do his training. Still a work in progress but he is doing amazing :)

I love this place. They are amazing with working with my dog. I work in the Vet industry and recommend this training and boarding to everyone. Awesome staff and great work with my dog who can be a brat at times. Your dog is in really good hands. I suggest you use their services all the time. Chris is a rock star! Bring your canine family to him. Forever training.

I have 2 dogs, a husky malamute mix and a husky Shepard mix, that just got out of training 2 days ago. They were wild and crazy with the cats, all over the furniture, and pulled like you wouldn't believe. My girl is cautious of men so I was worried about there being a male trainer. Both dogs did a 2 week course and are acting amazing. No pulling on walks. Easily redirected. The car used to be a big pain point but the last 2 days in the car have been so much calmer. Going to switch my dog daycare over here since I'm so impressed. They did a great job and the lifetime training really makes the cost worth it.

I am loving this place already - plus, Craig is just awesome. We are half way through our training program and I couldn't be happier that we went with University K9. I had spent weeks contacting different trainers and none really seemed like a good fit. Some trainers, honestly, just seemed to have serious control issues... I don't want my dog to be military-like or roboticly waiting for the next command. She (a bulldog) has such a fun, playful, goofy personality and I don't want her to lose that. Some trainers accused me of raising a dog who would turn on us and be aggressive. Honestly, the whole process was wearing me down. Then, I spoke with Craig on the phone and it was such a relief! He asked me what I was looking for, asked me about my dog, and asked me what my end goal was. He made this process about us - and that's what made the difference for me. Everyone else told me what we were doing wrong and lectured us on what we needed to do - but Craig let us know what we can do and how he can help us get our desired results. I fully trust Craig and the employees at University K9 with my Cider. Thanks a ton!
