There should be some sort of indication on the website that they're not currently doing adoptions

They are deffinitely more worried about collecting any fees than reuniting family members. If you can't afford the ransom, they will galdy hold them in their cells until you come up with the money.(charging everyday for room n board. So thats fun) they also change the fees and amounts and reasons for the fees. They seem to be able to do what they want, charge what they want, change the ransom and reasons why. I sincerely hope they never HELP us again. County extortionists! If you find a dog, please take it to any Vet, or place they cam check for a chip. ANY WHERE BUT HERE. PLEASE!

Their mission states "To provide a safe haven for animals in transition, protect animals from harm, and provide tools to the residents of our county to live safely, responsibly and respectfully with animals." Yet when a resident of the county calls to try and bring in abandoned kittens they found on the side of the road, they wont accept them! I could understand if they are full, but there not. Not sure why they call themselves an animal shelter, they certainly are not doing these animals any good.

Me and my gf adopted a little kitten there for $80 bucks. 2006 I believe. We still have her. She is a little deaf. She is a biter, but she loves also. I am happy that we found her. She is very independent. I only adopt. If Bonnie L Hays is rude to people, go to the humane society or cat adoption team in Tualitin. They BL Hays was not rude to us. I adopt only..

Found out today that you can keep your pet in a locked car with the windows rolled up. The lady at Bonnie L Hays told me that unless the animal was acting like they were in destress there is nothing they would do. I did tell them that the cat was trying to get out of the car but unable to. They still did not care. They then told me that the state of Oregon doesn't see an issue with pets being housed in cars and that it was 5mins before closing so they would not do anything about it today anyway. The cat has been housed in the car for a week now. I just found out about it today when I saw it. I talked to the apt office who told me it has been a week now. So not happy with Oregon right now. #washingtoncounty #hillsborooregon #animalrights #PETA #washingtoncountyanimalcontrol #aspca

These guys took care of my babies for me while I was in the hospital. I was loosing my mind over the thought of them being taken, and was assured that was absolutely not going going to happen. They were great through the ordeal and as you can see in the pics, my babies are happy. They were not stressed or traumatized at all

Through the shelter I was able to reunite missing kitten I found with its owner. I have to say that this shelter is very clean well organised with friendly professional staff. Why was there I watched as a dog got outdoor playtime and treats. All the animals I saw at this shelter seemed happy and healthy. I could tell by the time I spent there that the animals are well-cared-for by loving staff members.

They have the most courteous, knowledgeable staff in Washington County! Their building is in sore need of updates and will need Community Support to have a new building

I have been a volunteer at Bonnie Hays for many years. I can't say enough good things about the staff here! They are caring, professional, and dedicated to all the animals entrusted in their care. These animals that come in with some of the worst medical conditions get top notch veterinary care by the full time vet and vet techs. The shelter techs treat each animal like they were their own. They also have the difficult job of dealing with public who are sometimes less than nice and do it with great skill. The animal control officers rescue animals from dangerous situations. The office personnel are friendly and helpful. The administration is always looking for ways to improve and make the shelter a better place. We are lucky to have such a dedicated group in our county. Thank you for serving us and taking such good care of our animals!

I have lived in or near Hillsboro for 40yrs, I have never adopted an animal from there. I did however try to give donations of food an flea medication, and found the people that work in the office to be extremely unfriendly and abrupt. Seriously they are supposed to be providing a service for the public, if you don't like your job get out and stop being rude. I will probably find a different shelter to donate to.

Rude ... called to ask a question and if you aren’t open to the public make a recording and don’t act so bothered to speak to someone who basically wanted to help you out and was 100% kind. Have a great day be well and know I’ll never tout or support your shelter .

They abused my dog when they ran away

They took care of wild animals I took in there that I picked up off the road to prevent any other vehicles to repetitively run them over.

I will not ever do business with this facility again. The woman often at the intake is rude and incompetent. With luck someday they will lose their funding and she will get fired. I have never seen a more poorly run facility.

The front desk people are disrespectful and rude do not adopt these animals sorry but the whole shelter is a joke

They were extremely rude. They told us to leave a voicemail and then they'd get back to us as soon as possible. They never got back to us. So we brought our stray in and the lady that we talked to made up all this BS to avoid taking in this cat and treating it. After pleading with her she just kept shutting us down and told us to leave... Never coming here again.

I am a volunteer at the shelter. We don't carry a lot of animals but the ones we do have are well loved. I like to sing to the cats in the catery and give the pooches treats. Lots of loving hearts waiting for a home.

The staff was all really friendly and helped us adopt the cutest little kitten for our family.

Super rude staff at stray drop off. Unhelpful. Avoid at all costs.

The staff at the drop-off desk for strays is condescending and seems to put forth minimal effort while begrudgingly doing as little as possible. We've tried to work with them to get a handle on the feral cat colonies in Beaverton neighborhoods and they were entirely unhelpful. Their advice was to stop caring about parasites in home grown food and to not worry about feral cats killing the local wildlife or transmitting rabies and cat scratch fever to other animals or humans. If you go out of your way to do their job for them and capture feral cats in the hopes of them being rehomed, they instead extort $10 from you and release the animal back into your neighborhood. If there were any other available options for dealing with your animal needs, I would highly recommend avoiding this shelter at all cost.

I found some cats that were abandoned on the side of the road and couldn't find them a home. I took them to this shelter and had a very good experience. After reading the reviews I was extremely anxious about my decision. After going there I feel very good about the two sweet cats I left with them. The staff were very friendly and helpful. From reading all the negative reviews it seems there was possibly one bad employee that made people very upset.

I adopted a kitten from here a year ago, and now I’m looking for a puppy. The process was easy and only took about an hour after I fell in love with a kitten there. His names Lu, and he’s awesome.

I have adopted 4 animals from here and have never had any problems with them. One dog they did take back after working with him with private training for aggressive and biting issues. They replaced him with a better fit. They have gone out of their way for me on more than one occasion and I am grateful for that and them
