We took our cat Little Bear to pursue more diagnostics/treatment options for a GI issue. Everyone at this facility was wonderful and caring. They made us feel so welcome and even tried to accommodate our comfort after our 2.5 hour drive down (offered restrooms when we arrived, allowed us to leave and get lunch while our little one was waiting for ultrasound). There was no feeling of being rushed in and out, the doctor and technician took as much time with us as we required and answered all of our questions. I wish I could go there for all my veterinary needs, you just don't get service like this anymore. The cost was also very reasonable for specialty type services.

Horrible, charged us $661 for an emergency visit and never administered any medication to our pug with an ear infection so bad one side of the jaw was swollen, he was twitching his head and they never even applied ointment!! Just shaved his area n sent my hubby off to the hotel he rented to be close in didn't tell him meds needed given asap!! I'm reporting them to the parent company because when I called to ask question s I spoke to was rude and disrespectful and lied to me outright... she claimed they could not give an antibiotic other than iv, but sent home a liquid oral antibiotic. Why didn't they does him then n there, they didn't even treat the hot spot, sent a cream but didn't apply it before his release, and didn't tell my husband who is in a hotel room tonight with our pug, that he needed to give these meds asap.. I'm gonna make sure the home company knows they neglected my dog, if I had not called we wouldn't know they had done NOTHING to help except send meds home.. they also charged $35 for a 4 oz. Bottle of over the counter ear wash I can get for $18 at walmart for an 8 oz bottle!!! The person who called my husband to explain my dogs care spoke English so poorly he couldn't understand anything she said..

The PVSEC team took great care of our dog Jazz when he came down with a liver infection just before Christmas. They got him immediately on a treatment plan, and he’s on the mend. Was great to have after hours access to services.

They were wonderful up there. I rushed my yorkie I'd had for 12 yrs since he was a puppy in the middle of the night cause seizures he never had before. Unfortunately we had to make the decision to put him to sleep. They had a nice room with a couch gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes before and after. When we told them we couldn't really afford the cremation on top of the vet bill they took it off the bill so we could take our baby home. Then I got a condolence card in the mail from them with personalized messages from the staff. Just wonderful people up there <3

If you want a place that cares about your pets, go elsewhere. It's all about the Benjamin's. Without knowing the cause of my cat's condition, when I couldn't afford almost a grand, they offered to kill my cat for free, how kind. ???? Because of my situation I decided to take her home AMA. She's doing ok and is going to an actual vet who cares about animals and is willing to work with us. This place is awful and I now understand why there was no wait there as opposed to the 8-10 hour waits at nearby ER's. The doctor told me it could be cancer or heart failure but it might just also be a viral infection and could be treated but was willing to murder her for me for free!!!!!!!!!! WITHOUT KNOWING THE CAUSE!!!!! And just kept drilling me to see what money she could get out of me. I was charged 221.00 for NOTHING. When I finally got her, she was COVERED I MEAN DRENCHED IN RUBBING ALCOHOL!!!!!!!! Stay away if you love your pets. They'll care, for a fee. Totally disgusted.

In 2012 I brought my dog to PVSEC, piece of dry chicken treat stuck in her throat, my regular vet couldn’t help her and recommend to take to PVSEC, they safe my little Hloya life. 2021 I took my little Hooch to Neurologist and we got MRI done and some other tests. I believe nowhere else you can get MRI in Pittsburg for you pet. Doctor and staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Huge advice: get your pet insurance, this stuff very expensive!

We didn't know our dog would come out with a cancer diagnosis and as hard as that was, the doctor and assistant were so kind. The doctor was very thorough, no rush at all. We were there for awhile and at no time did we feel pressured as far as time or our decision. Explanations were given at all steps along the way. When it was obvious no more procedures would be helpful they were cancelled as unnecessary. It was a horrible day made a bit more bearable with this facility and staff.

Unless your pet is dying don’t bother. Your pet will probably die waiting on them.

I took my young male cat to the emergency room at PVSEC this week with a complete urethral obstruction. The doctors and staff on site took amazing care of him from the day we dropped him off to the day we picked him up. The doctors and techs quite literally saved my cat's life, and I am so grateful for each and every one of them. Everyone that I interacted with either over the phone or in person was incredibly kind and compassionate. Everything was explained well to me and they made sure that I understood what was happening and frequently made sure to ask if I had any questions for them. I had a great experience here and am so grateful for the PVSEC staff. It was such a relief to know that my boy was in good hands! The prices are, of course, extremely high and out of reach for most pet owners. If you are able, make sure to put your babies on pet insurance so you can access emergency care without worrying about the cost. I would absolutely bring any of my pets here again for emergency care.

I made a phone call this is place today after being referred. i explained how my sisters puppy ht her head on a piece of glass and had a 2 in split in her for heard. After finding out she has no money and cant apply for credit the woman was super short, instead of helping me to find someone or a place or anything she hung up on me. i was in tears. i begged and pleaded for help and she hung up on me. Im so disappointed in the woman whom answered the phone, which reflect on their business, thanks for noooo help!!!!!

Go somewhere else if you can. I brought my cat in for an asthma attack. I was told he needed to be sedated to be examined, have X-rays, and bloodwork done. I was told I'd be brought inside to sign paperwork and pay. When I went in, I was presented with a $1,000 estimate for the sedation, x-rays, and bloodwork. I was not expecting that amount and declined to have this done. Without my signature, they had already began sedating my pet, once I said I couldn't pay that amount, they brought my pet out of sedation and proceeded to charge me for the sedation which I didn't sign off on. Discharge took over an hour. My cat was returned to me with pee all over him as he was in a cage with no litter box for over 2 hours. PCSEC gave me asthma medication for my cat that was the size of a Panera macaroni shell noodle and told me to give it via mouth. I've since gone to my regular vet for a check up. They were outraged at the pricing I was given at PCSEC, the fact that my cat was given a large medication instead of a steroid shot for an asthma attack, and were able to examine my pet without any sedation. They sent us on our way with a steroid shot and no pee covered fur. Check out Allegheny Vet Associates!! I originally reviewed 5 stars for Emily at the front desk and I don't want her effort to go unnoticed as the new star review does not reflect her: You rock!! Thank you for keeping me calm, dealing with my multiple changes, and treating my cat like your own. Although she was a newer employee, she made sure to get answers for all of my questions and truly made me feel like I was the only patient/customer in the building. You're a great employee and PVSEC should be counting their blessings to have you!

I just brought my Golden Retriever home from having surgery on his leg at PVSEC. He had surgery on his other leg there 2 yrs ago. I can't even tell you how wonderful the staff was and how wonderful they treated both my dog and I. Kind and caring and they explained everything in detail. Communication was excellent. Dr. Chiznal did his surgery both times and she is an amazing doctor. I highly recommend PVSEC. I don't know what I would have done without them. I am very grateful to them for taking care of my 3 year old golden boy.

Folks, if you’re worried or wondering about your pet, this is the place to take them. You’ll feel welcomed, taken care of, and in the absolute best hands. They didn’t force anything on me or my pet, they gave me options for where to fill my script if I wanted to go elsewhere, they gave me advice on my pet for totally unrelated issues, and they were the nicest and most helpful people I’ve met. I’m thrilled with this team and facility. I wish they could be my full time vet!

We just wanted to say how compassionate and caring the people are here. We got turned away from MedVet, they wouldn't even consider seeing us so we went here. They had a 6 to 8 hour wait but when we told them what was going on with our 17 year old furkitty Shannon, they sent someone out to take her back to evaluate her. They told us they were very busy with other emergencies and we understood that and we know they were alot more serious than our girls was but, none the less, Shannon's was serious. They called us back and told us that she definitely needed to be seen. They kept her comfortable til someone could see her. The people we spoke with were extremely nice, compassion and caring even through they were extremely busy. That's how you can tell they truly care about their patients and their well being. We were their for over 7 hours but we understood. They explained everything to us in detail. We brought our girl home and she is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning. We would recommend this place to EVERYONE! For an emergency, we would go anywhere else. Thank you so much for everything you've done for Shannon. We appreciate you all!!!

They saw my dog this weekend and everything was very smooth. Even with all of the staffing shortages, the staff was helpful and friendly.

I took my puppy here today after he experienced what seemed like a seizure. You call from your car and they triage the call then send out someone to get your dog. I understand why they don't want a bunch of maskless individuals contaminating their facility...kudos for that.. He was there about 4 hours total but the vet called me to update his condition & what they wanted to do. He explained everything & didn't push any needless tests. My puppy left there much better and with a referral to a specialist that we will pursue. I was actually surprised the bill wasn't higher. For emergency care I would definitely take my dog here again and it's great they're only a few minutes from my home!

I have to say I have been really unimpressed with this place. My poor dog is only 5 months old and is going on her third UTI. I waited over a month to get an appointment at this place to finally get some answers. After keeping my dog for almost 4 and a half hours, I get a call that an ultrasound was normal. The vet proceeds to then say that “sometimes this just happens” referring to dogs getting utis. I don’t feel like my dog was appropriately worked up at all.

This place is great. They are all very nice and knowledgable. They are very good at what they do. Just be aware that they are not open 24/7 for the time being and their emergency department is not open at all Thursday - Saturday

They took care of my puppy when he got sick. It took them all day, but I'm glad he's better now. Apparently there's a great shortage of vets and workers and an abundance of new pets (due to COVID). I took him in at 8am and didn't pick him up till after 10pm. It broke my heart, but when you have no other options, what can you do? My puppy is fine now, still licking ice cream cartons after we're done with them (look at my profile pic).

I thought this is a emergency vet hospital ??? Don't recommend..He took her to pleasant valley veterinary clinic and they took the kitten in right away..thank you pleasant valley !!! Don't ever go to PVSC !!!!

Unfortunately, the final prognosis is not good for our Morkie. Both Dr. Maczuzak and Dr. Torre were both wonderful! My wife and I were so happy to have these great ladies help us navigate through this. They were both extremely knowledgeable, and thorough with our 13 year old "baby". Dr. Maczuzak was our primary DMV and she did a tremendous job ensuring continuity with Dr. Torre.

Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, yet this emergency vet refuses to let people in with their dogs. Clearly it's because they function better without the stress of owners around to ensure their dogs are taken care of properly. They'd much rather work in secrecy. They don't call with updates. You have to call for any sort of update and when you do, every person on the phone tries to explain to you how emergency room triage works. I know how triage works - I want to make sure my dog is okay because this practice refuses to call with updates, even after I explained 2 or 3 times that I'm an overly anxious dog parent and was promised they would alert me when my dog got x-ray or was seen by the doctor. They're not upfront about the fact that they kennel your dog, and when I called to ask about it two days later, the woman beat around the bush and didn't want to say that they kennel your dog. APPARENTLY, vet techs are constantly monitoring the animals, but they clearly don't pay enough attention since my dog came home with kennel nose. Additionally, I sat outside the entire time and witnessed periods of 3-4 hours where no new animals were brought in, yet my dog was still made to wait around. Overall, it was an absolutely horrible 10 and a half hour experience; in which my dog got kennel nose, was made to be stressed and alone, and had only been taken out to the bathroom one time for 35 seconds. Taken out to the bathroom once in over 10 hours? Really? Don't take your dog here if they can wait to see their primary, horrible experience for you and your pet. I should send them the bill for my dog's kennel nose treatment and visit.

Inexperienced specialist still needs to learn professional Communication skills and patience - especially because the general public does not understand medicine. Been here twice now, I probably need to request a different specialist so I can quit going home with my tail between my legs - ugh!!

They don’t care !!! It’s all about money. Their fees aren’t realistic. For the amount they ask You would think u could claim ur fur babies on ur taxes “ BUT YOU CAN’T “Got to be the biggest extortion/Ponzi scheme / Rico act / what ever organized crime ever !!!!? I love animals but maybe we should banish them so we can put these crooks out of work. Let them scramble around to find earnings to take care of their loved ones and see how that feel.
