The care was good, which is the most important thing. I don't like having to stay in the car and only getting a few seconds to chat with the doc or staff. The tiny parking lot was crazy- people were double and triple parked at one point while I waited, because they scheduled so many people at once. There are not a lot of vets who treat "exotic" animals though, so I'll deal with the inconveniences!

When you can get an appointment, it's fine. My dog has anxiety issues and with the new Covid protocols, I can't be with him. This isn't great for either of us. Also, had an emergency about a week ago and they couldn't accommodate me. Had to go to MedVet where they only see emergencies, don't know my dog's baseline, and charge whatever they want. Sorry to say, I have to look for a new vet. When you can't count on the one you have been bringing dogs too for almost 20 years to be there when you need them the most (and what I thought was end of life), then I don't really see the point of going to one regularly at all. Completely disenchanted.

Very kind and efficent. The staff is very passionate too. Been going there for years with a cat and dog and have seen all types of lizards in there.

Poor customer service, they shamed me for my training techniques, way overpriced. Also, put items in my pet's chart that I did not report and was not discussed. I think they mixed up information. Always running 15-30 mins behind schedule.

Got our bunny checked. The entire process was handled professionally during covid. And the staff was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions.

My rabbit became sick after hours and not on a day when our regular Vet was in. I had called all over the place to no avail, as most places don't take exotics for emergency, and our Vet recommended Dr. Dorn. They squeezed us in, got all the details by phone, and the staff was SO friendly. I have knowledge of rabbits, but cannot do xrays or exams, but can provide home care until it surpasses the time in which they should be turning the bend. Every Tech I spoke to treated me with respect and were so upbeat! I've had bad experiences in the past with some places when I tell them I understand the terminology, anatomy, frequently used meds, and that I volunteer with a rescue. Most places refuse to sell you fluids, but they were eager to do so, as I can have experience. The fact that they squeezed us in and we got in and out quickly was amazing. Dr. Dorn came out after I spoke to the Tech, and helped me with info I needed like dosage, answered all my questions, and couldn't be nicer. I was shocked at how reasonable my bill was, and my little guy is now on the road to recovery. I am so grateful for Dr. Dorn & his incredible staff! He will be our other Vet on the days where our other primary Vet isn't available, because I trust him 100% with my bunnies' care. If Dr. Wagner recommends someone, you know they're the best! Thanks again!

update: the vet called once he saw my initial review and explained all the patient care things i needed. bumping up to 4 stars. overall: took my new puppy here to get spayed. the customer service aspect is excellent, the vet came to my car twice! my biggest issue was communication, but the vet explained on the phone that there was an emergency that took place the day of my dog’s surgery. totally understandable! the communication was really my biggest issue, and the vet called to fix it. my puppy was in good hands, the care she received was great. hoping they will improve patient education ????

Dr. Dorn has been our family's vet for decades. I can't believe there is a more capable, compassionate, and dedicated vet in the area. I've recommended him to friends and all have been equally pleased.

Friendly staff and good vets I'm editing this because they have gone down hill. Now when you call you hear an automated message that says they are scheduling 3 weeks out and to expect delays when you bring your pet in. They've been over booking their clinic for years. Some staff members aren't friendly and they like to randomly increase the cost of meds and argue with you about it... they don't listen to you about your concerns about your pets which ultimately led to losing my one pet. They also will randomly tell you that you are doing something wrong when in fact it was them who told you what to do in the first place. I changed vets. I will not be going back.

I was having an emergency with my small/“exotic” animal and they squeezed me in that same day. Very thankful to find a place that will care for my hamster after calling dozens of emergency vets the night before who would not see him.

I've been taking my pets here for years and they've always been nothing but professional and caring to my pets and myself. My cat had to have an emergency surgery yesterday and they were able to take him in and get him the care he needed immediately. I am very grateful to West Liberty Animal Hospital and will continue to trust my pets in their care for years to come.

They get on the floor with my dog. Before covid I could be in the same room as my dog when they took blood. All friendly.

This is the best place to bring your pet! They are wonderful with exotics, I recently had my rabbit spayed. They did EVERYTHING they could to make sure not only I was comfortable and had an understanding with everything but, that our rabbit was comfortable as well. They went ABOVE AND BEYOND. I have never had a rabbit so, I was unsure of what to expect of the spay incision. The day after her surgery I had a concern about her incision area (not knowing it was totally fine)I called and asked if I could send a picture of it. Keep in mind this was a half hour before their closing time, they said simply “bring her in”. Instead of sending me to an emergency vet or having me come in the next day, THEY STAYED LATE EVEN WHEN I HIT TRAFFIC TO MAKE SURE MY PET WAS OKAY. They weren’t upset, annoyed, or anything when it was simply I had overreacted over something totally normal. I have brought my parrots here before but never for a procedure and have always had an amazing experience but this was OUTSTANDING. I can’t say enough about Dr. Dorn and his staff. Every staff member treated us well and my pet even better. When we dropped her off the woman that came out and picked up our rabbit talked to us for 20 minutes, answered all my questions, shared important rabbit care tips with us, told us what to look for post surgery and had a genuine conversation with us. We really felt great about choosing them for our exotic vet. My favorite thing about our encounter with this woman (I wish I had got her name) was this: A woman walked by with her dog, she turns to the woman and says hello and she KNEW THE DOG BY NAME. If you bring your pet here it’s not just another file, its loved. The anesthesiologist came out and told me he stayed with her post surgery until she was back on her feet. Which means so much to me. Dr. Dorn came out and talked to us personally both times and ensured us she looked good. He answered my list of questions, he didn’t make us feel silly or anything other than confident both him and his team. These people are animal lovers and they treat each patient like their own pet. This is THE BEST PLACE IN PITTSBURGH for not only pets but exotics. I want to make sure I add this as well, when looking for a place to get my rabbit fixed I was quoted OUTRAGEOUS prices from other vets. The price I was quoted was the price I paid. For the quality of their care, I almost feel like I should have paid more. I can’t thank this team enough for everything, you have a life long customer. Thank you for treating my pet like your own.

They were very conscientious about the pandemic. I called, when I arrived, and they came out to get my cat. They came back out to discuss their findings and treatment options and brought her back out when finished. I found the cost to be extremely reasonable, yet I feel my pets always get great care here too.

We've been bringing our cats here for at least 10 years. Dr. Dorn has always been accurate with his diagnoses (when other vets weren't) & we trust him 100%. It's a small office but we like that - you feel like you're part of a family. The staff is fantastic. We're very grateful for West Liberty Animal Hospital!

I took my dog for her check up and rabies shot last week, during the shutdown. Humans couldn't go in with their pets, so I got to sit outside for quite a while and watch what was happening. They were AMAZING!! THE TECHS ran back and forth,in and out, over and over again, to escort the patients into the building for treatment. I watched as they patiently listened to the concerns of animal owners, then more patiently coaxed the animals to go in without their humans. It was awesome. They did it over and over and over again. Then, just when I thought it couldn't get more impressive, out came Dr Dorn to talk to each pet parent personally. Their dedication in astounding. The energy they expended was super human. Their patience with patients left my heart full of respect and admiration This is the stuff that keeps me believing in mankind, and readily sharing the story of their good works. THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERY STAFF MEMBER WHO FOLLOWS THEIR LOVE FOR ANIMALS AT WEST LIBERTY ANIMAL HOSPITAL. YOUR DEDICATION IS EVIDENT!

Dr. Dorn and his Vet Tech's are amazing! Took my Yorkie-poo in who had just suffered a stroke. They treated her as if she were there own pup. Even called us a couple days later to check up on her. There care and kindness was overwhelming in such a stressful time. Don't hesitate to take your furry friend to Dr. Dorn!!

Only bad thing is we were left out in the cold while we waited for our pet's care to be conducted apparently out of our sight. The fact that we would be separated from our pet like this was not communicated, at all, until we got there and found each door into the place had a sign on it telling us that we could not at all go into the place and that our beloved pet would have to face the scary vet on his own. That being said they were otherwise on point with what they told me it would cost, fairly quick, professional in demeanor, responsive to requests, and from what I could tell compassionate. I just would have appreciated being there with our dog while he was being serviced, or at the very least told that we'd be standing outside in the cold wind the entire time we waited.
