I just dropped off dog and cat food and around 50 stuffed toys. Wish I could bring them all home.

They definitely enjoy taking animals. Say they don't have shots or tags then wont allow you to prove they indeed are fully vetted and registered. And apparently your required to leave food out at all times for your dogs, which isnt feasible when you have two food and animal aggressive dogs. They are completely irresponsible, power hungry, judgemental, and the men I encountered were completely rude as well. The idea of the shelter is great....but that's all it is is an idea because they are nothing more then kidnappers.

Tried to take stray loving cats there that are basically starved we found hanging out by the road by our pourch we were scared they were gonna get ran over we would have absolutely loved to take them but we have large dogs and i even put an ad on Facebook and no one responded so i tried taking them in and they told me to just leave them where i found them because there is no room for anymore cats but yet you look on their fb page and they post 2-3 new cats that were surrendered the same day i was told to basically just to put starving cats back in the road by my porch I understand not having room for cats but to tell someone “put them back where you found them” like you dont even care or tried to put and effort in is ridiculous

They are awesome. We are so happy with our fur baby Bandit. He is so loving and we are so in love with him. We are happy he chose us and his parents. The Humane Society of Parkersburg made everything so easy for us to give Bandit his forever home.

Beware..drove over 2 hours to do a meet and greet, offered to pay for the dog then, they said no that was not necessary, I explained how much I liked the dog and I had been screwed over by another shelter, they said no worries, she was mine for sure, but it would take at least ten days to spay her, they called me after six days and said if I didn't come and get her immediately they would not hold her till the next day, good thing I was off work that day..also they glue the incision together instead of stitches, and don't use any e-collar so the incision came open and got infected. not disgruntled, just being totally honest. ????

Over the years I have seen and used this facility and I must say they have made great improvements. The people who work and volunteer there have always been kind and attentive. To my great pleasure I must say the new buildings look great. The grounds are well kept and the new security measures are nice. It is nice to know we have a Humane Society that cares as they do.

Owner was found for a cat of my friends and they have lied multiple times over the phone telling each person that calls a different story. To get me off the phone they told me the owner has been called that the cat will be returned. I myself spoke to my friend who is the rightful owner of the cat and said she was never contacted. Mind you the lady i have been speaking to on the phone her name is Abby! She has been the one speaking to almost everyone who has called about the cat an told a new story just to get us to stop calling then says the director of the HSOP is busy to leave a message. They are trying to have the cat adopted out from under the family who actually lost and owns him an has found him. No story lines up. This place is a freaking joke, not to mention when i posted on their fb the owner has been found, my post gets deleted immediately because they know they are in the wrong.

We adopted Jolene on Thanksgiving day last year, and what a blessing we received getting her! We love her so much. Everyone there was awesome and so helpful. I would recommend 100% adopting from there. They have beautiful, well taken care of animals. We couldn't be happier!!!

Super sweet people and great to their animals. Getting an adoption application approved can take a while but that's ok.

Disappointed, even though I’ve donated in the past. It didn’t help when it was time that I needed help and was looking for a furbaby.

Did on line application was told I was approved. Told that pup was on stray hold till Tuesday and to call back wednesday. Get a phone call today told they needed approval from landlord and than at end of message, pup has been adopted. Called them back and told different story that his hold was up yesterday and adopted today. Why tell me one thing and do another. Not right. Had new toys puppy bed etc. Humane society seems to be all in for the mighty dollar and not for the animals anymore. Very sad. I will never try adopting from this or any humane society again.

We went by hoping to find a pup for our family and ended up falling in love with the sweetest boy. Two short weeks after, we decided to adopt another and met with a couple different dogs we had our eye on. The kennel tech led us in a totally different direction with a dog that we hadn't even thought of looking at. The tech was helpful and led us in the right direction. Now we have 2 loving furbabies who are becoming the best of friends and are terrific with our kids. Thankful for everyone at the shelter who helped us with our first adopting experience!

Nice people. I reported a missing pet, and they were helpful. Very sad for the animals here. I discovered a policy that states that if a pet is recovered, they sterilize, and require a fee to return your pet. If not recovered within a set period of time, they euthanize. Terrible policy! Your pet is kidnapped for Ransome, and if you don't pay, it is killed. I understand the reasoning, but I cannot get past how much this resembles a crime! Only missing a ransom note with letters cut out of a newspaper. I will not be supporting financially any longer, so long as this policy is in effect. I find it tasteless, offensive, and to be honest it makes me sick for the animal and unsuspecting owner if this policy is discovered too late. No more donations from me.

My littlest brother goes there every year for their summer camp and is really sad he can’t go this year. The camp gives the kids so many hands on learning experiences. He’s learned so much and he’s fallen in love with so many wonderful dogs. They help train dogs so that they will be more appealing to adopters. One year there was one dog in particular that his group had trained at camp, her name was baby. Baby is now an official member of our family and we couldn’t ask for anything greater. We’ve never had a dog before, but she was just so perfect, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity. The humane society really helped us with making the adoption process easy and getting all her shots and chips.
