This was the first time getting our standard poodles groomed here. Since it was our first time they required a stool specimen plus because of the size of their facility they also required the influenza vaccine for the dogs. Note that the influenza vaccine also requires a booster 2 to 4 weeks after. As for the grooming we were extremely satisfied with the groomer and the care of the dogs. They did a fantastic job on the poodles. We'll definitely be back to have them groomed and we were satisfied with the price.

I never write reviews but I feel that I need to warn people about this vet. They only have one vet on staff and when he is not there they use temp vets. It is extremely hard to get in for an appt even when animal is sick. Have to wait a month when dog is in pain and this has happened multiple times. Most recently I called saying my dog had an ear infection. 2 weeks to get an appointment. Okay, fine I know every one is short staffed and I really try to be understanding. Then the day before I was called and they said the temp vet cannot see large dogs and I have a 60 lb lab so will have to be rescheduled. How can you be a vet and not be able to see a lab?! They said they would call me back to reschedule and never even called back-no follow up. Clearly they don't care that my dog is in pain. I had already waited 2 weeks and my dog was in pain I really didn't want to wait any longer. I called the next day and got in at another vet and was treated with much better service. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS VET.

We have been going to see Dr. Hicks for the last 11 years. Sadly we had to put down our almost 16-year-old beloved cat Duchess last week. We appreciate the compassion we were shown, and knowing that all was done that could have been done. Caring employees.

I will drive 25+ miles to take Apollo and Delphi to a doc I can trust and cost effective. They take their time with your fur babies. And the door is always open for your emergencies. But in my case it really wasnt an emergency it was my over protectiveness. But they make sure you and your fur baby are comfortable and happy. Thank you! We will be back!!!

Dr. Hicks is amazing. He is the only vet that has ever taken the time to ask me if I had any questions for him about my pets. I have had pets for 50+ years and Dr. Hicks and his staff are absolutely the best!

Great place to board your pet. Great staff, vet service and grooming available, clean facilities. I feel my dog is in good hands while I am on vacation. Worry free.

I had a last minute need for boarding a sick cat and they were incredibly nice and accommodating. The entire experience was as good as I could have hoped for.

They fit us in as a drop off/pick up when all the other vets we called couldn't get us in for at least 3 weeks, friendly staff, very clean facility, would recommend.

Having to leave our beloved pets behind when we travel is never easy. However, knowing that they will be loved and well cared for by the staff at Akron-Medina Veterinary Pet Resort really puts my mind at ease. Thanks for the great care!!

They were able to take in my bengal the following day after I called with a concern and took great care of her. I really appreciated that they addressed the concern that I had and were able to find a solution quickly instead of forcing me to pay for additional testing that would have been unnecessary which a previous vet had done before.

Just established with AMVH after moving back to Ohio and I couldn't be happier. I did a lot of research on finding the right fit for my fur babies and I think I found it. I had some concerns about my 2.5 yr old cat and called, and after talking with Dr. Hicks, I decided to wait and see if the issue resolved itself. With no results this morning, I called again and they were able to get me in right away. Some tests and treatments later, I took home a happy kitty and I have peace of mind knowing he's ok. Thank you to Dr. Hicks and his team for everything! *addendum 6/1/21* I cannot say enough good things about AMVH. They are always so polite and helpful. Anytime I call with an issue, I’m either seen that day or scheduled for the next. They are so accommodating and genuinely care about your fur babies. I know Vigo, Bast, and Tater Tot are in great hands anytime I take them to Dr. Hicks and his wonderful team.

When I arrived my cat Casper wasn't moving or walking. Dr. Hicks took his time explaining leukemia/feline aids and offered several treatment options instead of immediately putting my cat to sleep. I was reassured when he told me to call him with questions any time at all. Casper is now up and moving, cleaning himself, eating and I caught him playing with a toy mouse today. Of course he stopped as soon as he caught me looking. ???? Love Akron/Medina Vet!

Been going here for many years with so many different pets. Their boarding and grooming is too notch and Dr. Hicks always takes care of his patients like they were his own pets. I highly recommend using this for all boarding, grooming, and pet care. You won’t find a better place.

Dr. Hicks and the entire staff really care. They take the time to consider the best options for care and always have given me several options for how to proceed. I trust them with my pets 100% and have never been let down by the quality of care I've received!

My wife and I have owned and even bred and raised Cairn and for the past 25 plus years Scottish Terriers. My oldest brother is a breeder and profesional handler of Pugs in Alabama. With this as a background I can say unequivocally that Dr Steven Hicks and his wonderful staff are the best I have had the pleasure to call our Vet. Its the obvious caring. Its genuine. And in our case it even extended past the life of our most loved pal August who succumbed to cancer recently. Though Doc is obviously a busy man he never rushed his explanations of the intended care and the girls are gentle and friendly with our dogs and as we saw in the waiting room everyone else's too. Top notch Vet and Crew. Can't be more proud to thank them and recommend!

Our cat was lethargic and not eating or drinking like he should be, so we brought our cat to the vet to have him checked out. He had bloodwork done, stool sample, and urine sample. We were told that he had a UTI and that the doctor gave him antibiotics via injection and he should clear up in a couple of days. He seemed to perk up initially, but over the weekend he seemed to regress, and we called Monday morning first thing and got him back in to be checked out again. When we called in the afternoon to check up we were told he had pulmonary edema and that we needed to wait til the following day for more bloodwork to know the cause, but that a different type of antibiotic was given and to see how that goes. There was no severity expressed, and no guidance except to wait for results and go from there. We waited anxiously for the vet to call the next day (Tuesday), but they never called. We finally called them to ask what was happening and they said they just hadn't gotten the results back yet and the doctor will call when they do. That night, breathing became really difficult and we had to take our cat to the Copley Emergency Vet - this place was very informative and helpful, but it was too late. The emergency vet had to do bloodwork and xray again, but no real clues were revealed. We were told we would have to assume cancer, an odd presentation of heart disease, or a small possibility of fungal or viral infection, but it would be very costly (thousands) to continue diagnostics with little hope for a positive outcome. We had to end his suffering and put him down. What I liked about this emergency clinic is they were extremely open with information, explained what they were seeing, what different options would be, and were honest and open with the situation. It is now Thursday night, we had the second round of bloodwork performed Monday, and I have still NEVER received a call from this vet with any test results, no checkup to see how our cat is doing, and no explanation for why we didn't get test results back on Tuesday like we were supposed to. Could answers earlier have saved our cat? I don't know. I know medical diagnostics are not easy, I understand mistakes can be made, but the lack of communication and guidance from this place is extremely unprofessional. I wouldn't even be that angry if a medical mistake was made, the real problem I have here is nobody expressed much concern or explained what to look for over night, never explained how serious pulmonary edema is, and the very worst part - they never checked up and we still haven't received our test results. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Not sure who is AMVH that is staff name on my recite but she is awesome. Sue has been grooming our dogs for thirty years and no one else can do our pets. What a great experience.

Dr. Hicks and his staff are wonderful. I took my dog there with allergies and he knew exactly what to do for him. I highly recommend this place for any issues or needs you have for your pet.
