Decided against using their services because they conduct declawing surgeries.

I received several recommendations to try Scratching Post after my kitty had been having episodes of not eating. I had multiple emergency vet visits and a possible pancreatitis diagnosis, but I my regular vet would not take steps to diagnose my cat to try to prevent further episodes. I received vague guidance like "let's see if it continues to happen" or "try a low fat diet"..... Enter in Dr. Summers! Dr. Summers was so kind and took the time to consider all of Dexter's symptoms and understand previous lab work. As an engineer, I require a veterinarian that can clearly communicate what is going on with my pet, and describe a path going forward. I NEED DETAILS! Dr. Summers was able to describe why he thought my cat was having these episodes and believed it was actually not pancreatitis, but hairball issues. He understood my fears and took the time to communicate a treatment plan. My cat, Dexter, has been on a low dose steroid and has only had one very minor episode since. He's been problem free for about 5 months now (it was happening monthly before). I have since switched and all my cats are now patients here. The staff is so caring. I'm really happy that we found this place. I was feeling so frustrated and helpless before I found a veterinarian that would actually listen to me and help my kitty. Thank you Scratching Post for helping Dexter to feel better.

I can’t give Scratching Post and Dr. Summers enough praise. I haven’t had my cat very long and he suddenly seemed to become blind. They were able to fit me in same day to assess, send labs, provide me with multiple plans and options to get to the bottom of it. I’ve been an absolute emotional mess and I can truly say that Dr. Summers has been able to take so much stress off of me by seeing my cat twice in 2 days to make sure we do everything to potentially save my cat’s eye sight. They truly seem to care about their patients, both the animals and the owners.

Dr. Summers has saved my fur baby's life. My cat ate a piece of plastic wrapper that has caused an obstruction and an emergency surgery was needed to remove it. Dr. Summers was able to operate in a timely manner to successfully remove the foreign object. He has patiently answered all the numerous questions I had and explained the surgery, treatment and what to expect during the recovery process. His staff was kind, caring and compassionate. The cost was very reasonable as well.

I am very impressed with this vet. I called concerned about my cats breathing troubles and the office fit me into their schedule right away. The vet was very nice and reassuring. Very intelligent and helpful to make me feel better about helping my pet feel better. Fast and efficient. Office staff is also great and very welcoming. I will be returning with any future concerns with my cats. Highly recommend! :)

A lovely facility. I really like the fact that they only see kittens & cats. Decreases my pets' anxiety levels. Filled out paperwork & was seen immediately! I love Dr. Wells. She rocks!

The best feline vet in town (and maybe in the country)! Kind and compassionate, Dr. Summers has been able to accurately diagnose and treat illnesses that others have missed. I wouldn’t take our cats anywhere else!

I really appreciate a vet who works with only cats as they become more familiar with the specific quirks of the species. Dr. Summers has always been calm and methodical when working with my cats. He is also compassionate when talking about difficult to discuss issues like when your cat develops and issue where there is no treatment and no cure. He loves cats, as can be seen by the vet cats walking around freely in the hospital! Of course they don’t go into patient rooms with other cats but they hand out with the office staff (in the way like all cats do) and they roam the waiting area. Dr. Summers also definitely learns toward quality of life of the animals as opposed to trying to sell you expensive services. Two things really stand out from my experiences with Dr. Summers and the office staff. The first time I had an appointment, it was a same day appointment in the morning. I had never even talked to this office before. Upon hearing of my cat’s issue, they brought me right in. I had just happened upon them while searching the Internet. I had taken my cat to a chain vet after I found a tumor. They had diagnosed breast cancer in my cat. There were several things that lead me to not trust the ability of this vet’s office (including a vet basically saying that it was no use to treat her). I called the Scratching Post and the office staff put me in first thing. Dr. Summers operated on my cat very quickly to removed the tumor. He then sent me to a large veterinary group who handle cancer treatment for cats and dogs. After her treatments, my cat llived six more very pampered years despite the negative prognosis I was reading about everywhere. I was so touched that they made a same day appointment with a new distraught pet owner. Those six years down the road, the same cat was dealing with renal failure. She had always had decreased renal function but now she had a huge kidney tumor. Dr. Summers advised not looking into it further because there wasn’t much we could do about it. If it was cancer, we couldn’t remove the tumor. If it was benign, we would still have to remove her kidney. Her kidneys were failing no matter which of the treatment options were available. She went in mid-week to stay and get hydrated. Dr. Summers was on the property doing maintenance and called me to come pick up my cat and learn how to inject fluids. He doesn’t work on Saturdays in the office. I think he wanted to make sure she was more comfortable in my home. The next day I put my cat to sleep at the emergency vet. The fluids we were giving her were going to her lungs. She couldn’t breath. She had a giant kidney tumor. And her kidneys were failing. They could have tried extra measure to keep my cat alive, but I didn’t want her to spend the rest of her days scared at the vet’s office in a small cage. So I put her to sleep. Dr. Summers called me on Monday, the next day, to say that he had received the report from the emergency vet and how I had put my cat to sleep. He expressed his condolences and told me that I did the right thing. It sounds strange, but I really appreciated the phone call. I knew my cat was on borrowed time but he helped reinforce that it was the most humane option. I was also impressed that he called, period. So overall The Scratching Post is a wonderful place filled with awesome people if you should ever need a vet for your cat.

If your cat has an issue that you can't seem to resolve....go see Dr Summer's and his staff at The Scratching Post. You'll receive the correct answers, the correct course of treatment...and ALL at reasonable price. We just relocated to Tipp City and I don't care...I'm making the drive across town as my kitties won't go anywhere else
