This is a wonderful place. They are informative and helpful when trying to place animals. They helped me with getting a stray cat spayed and placing her kittens. Upon arrival the facility is big with separate outside areas for the animals. It was well kept and the dogs looked healthy in their kennels. Inside the staff was helpful and it was almost spotless for the amount of animals. While there I was able to walk through the kennel and grooming area which both looked and smelled sanitized. Again dogs and cats appeared to be well taken care. This is a non-profit organization and one I'm sure is very busy. So with any business they have their off days but I was there twice and talked with them several times on the phone. I can't complain and I'm extremely thankful for their help.

This business does not disclose any information to the better business bureau, and adopts out animals with pre-existing conditions and does not attempt to help pay for medical costs. Do not adopt from here until you have had a doctor look over the animal prior to adoption. This place needs to get sued.

***DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE!!! My friend, Joey, adopted a cat from there. He was told the cat was healthy and fully vaccinated. The cat ended up getting really sick so he took her to the vet. He’s already spent hundreds of dollars on vet bills to find out that his cat’s liver is behind her heart. Her intestines are also out of place. The cat, Jewel, needs a $6,000 surgery to survive. After reading several other reviews of this place I’m seeing MANY people that have paid high prices to adopt a pet from them only to end up with a sick animal. It’s so sad and it’s SO WRONG!!!!!! My friend called them numerous times and was ignored (which I’ve also seen many other people have dealt with). This place needs to be SHUT DOWN!!! Peggy (the owner and president of the shelter) is SO RUDE. She won’t return phone calls. She won’t help with vet bills when she knows she’s adopted out sick animals. We’ve posted comments on their FB page but she just keeps deleting them. She knows exactly what she’s doing and someone needs to investigate this place. It’s unfair to the people that adopt from them……but more importantly it’s EXTREMELY unfair to these animals!!!! If anyone wants to see vet bills, ultrasound images, X-rays, etc we are glad to show them.

This place don't need to be having anything to do with animals. They adopted a cat to a friend of mine that , come to find out. The cat is very sick. They know these animals are sick and still adopt them out so wrong. I just don't want nobody else to go through want my friend did.

I'm very thankful for my puppy of course. I love her so much already. I came here because I thought that they were a respectable place that takes care of their animals. I was sadly mistaken... my puppy at 4 months old had mange! They lied and said it was "stress marks" when we adopted her but it was concerning to me so I took her to the vet. Then I call to tell them and I get "okay, anything else?" Its not okay. I'm in touch with others that were sold sick animals. This place should know better.

We went out to arf on Wednesday to meet Sugarfoot with our older dog. We were greeted and they brought her outside to meet our older dog. They instructed use on how to introduce them to each other. We decided that we would adopt her but we could not pick her up until the following Monday, they were more than willing to hold her for us until then. We went out on Monday midday and picked her up and the staff again was great dealing with us and the adoption process only took 20 minutes. If we ever adopt again I will start looking here first.

Like everyone else has said, they are rude AF. I adopted a dog from there 4 months ago. I specifically told them I wanted a large dog who was also chill, not high energy. My first dog was a little crazy at first but settled into a calm demeanor with training and structure, so this wasn't my first rodeo. I got a beautiful American Bulldog who was instantly very sweet to me, but he was wild the complete opposite of what I needed. First off, he was heartworm positive. They said he was negative. I took him to my vet 2 weeks after adoption and he tested positive. ARF would not help me pay (because the test was over a week since I adopted him) even though my vet said he would have already had it because comes from mosquitoes and I adopted him in January. He was very high energy and needed to run every day, so I was spending 2+ hours a day for play and exercise. His prey drive is off the charts and not safe in a city environment. The contract said I needed to contact them first with any issues. I called multiple times asking for help like a behavioral trainer recommendation and was told "you never know what you're getting in a rescue animal".. basically it's an "as-is" sale and you're on your own. They always said someone would get back to me by they never did. He bit a neighbor's dog, and when I called and said he will have to be rehomed because if it happens again, he'll have to be put down. The lady asked why I hadn't called sooner. I said I had! And her response was, oh yeah, I remember that. Again, she said she'd have someone call back, of course they didn't. Every trainer I've met said it would have been very evident what his behavior issues were had they done ANY testing, like most rescues. ARF must not have ever done any kind of temperament test. I'm just happy I don't have any small animals or children in my home. I've now heard from multiple people from Hamilton, Clermont, and Warren County shelters. They are not reputable and suspected to be a puppy mill because of the puppies they frequently have, especially of certain breeds. Clermont County reps specifically said they are one of the worst places to adopt from in the tri-state. Don't go here. UPDATE: I found a new vet who is working hard to make sure he can remain alive [and with me]. She called ARF a dozen+ times to get them to respond to me on what he needs. They finally responded out of sheer annoyance and then disappeared again. I'm just going to drive up there next week because they haven't responded since my vet handed communication back to me.

I got an amazing cat named Angel from here. I absolutely love her, they do so much for the cats and dogs. They get them spade/neutered and they give them their first 2 rounds of shots. And they do it for a great price.

The people are super friendly. I brought a puppy up there to hopefully save but she passed away right when we went to get out. We still talked to the lady up there and agreed something bad had happened to the puppy. She now has my number if in the future someone needs help.

I adopted a beautiful puppy from this shelter. She is perfect and I had a good experience with staff, but she came home absolutely crawling with fleas, had worms, and was sick. When I took her to the vet she immediately tested positive for parvo which she must have caught at the shelter since they told me she tested negative when she arrived there 10 days prior. To the shelter's credit, they offered to treat her for free if I brought her to them, but at this point I did not trust their medical care and chose to leave her with my own vet and pay out of pocket. I was also given insufficient instructions on care for her spay scar- the vet told me she needed to be in a cone. The vet also diagnosed her with mange and she had a small fungal infection on her head.

If I could give it less stars I would. The front lady was incredibly rude and the rules for adoption were not on the website which made trying to adopt the dog a multifaceted process that was much more complicated and they have no restrictions for adoption but will show favoritism towards certain households which is how we couldn't adopt a dog because when a dog is being looked at for adoption they will let other people attempt to adopt the dog a family yesterday was way past their appointment and don't tell you when and when you can't adopt. To whoever adopted Marley. Please enjoy your new furry friend he was an incredibly fun dog and I'm glad he is going to you all you all seem fantastic. To the staff my words to you are. Stop showing favoritism. Stop being blatantly discriminatory. And for the love of everything holy wear your masks right.

We have adopted quite a few dogs from ARF over the years, never had a bad experience what so ever, Sharon has always been very professional and very caring about every animal that has come through her shelter, I highly recommend that anyone looking to adopt a pet of your own to go see her, sit down and have a meet and greet first to make sure that the pet you're about to adopt is the right one for you.

We adopted our 4th dog (from here) last weekend, as an anniversary present to ourselves. The people genuinely care about animals and want to be sure that you and the animal (and any existing pets in your house) are really compatible. Great place.

Rating three stars for the sweet woman who was taking care of the cats!!  She was wonderful! I adopted my sweet baby from Petsmart.  It was apparent that she was sick before I even took her out of the cage but I expected to take her to the vet right away anyhow.  She was sneezing up a storm and throwing snot everywhere.  Her ears were crusted over so much that they had to be SCRAPED out, she ended up having a yeast infection and needed ear drops. I was told that she had taken two rounds of antibiotics while in the shelter's care for the sneezing and that they suspected she kept getting sick due to insufficient air flow.  I was told she had not seen a vet for the issue because they treat with their back stock of antibiotics.  Honestly, most shelters do just that for minor issues and URIs are common in shelter cats so that didn't bother me at the time. SO.....  $600 in medical bills later, we have determined the infection was caused by a cracked tooth, pulled it, administered three types of antibiotics over the course of the last couple months,  and treated a yeast infection in both ears.  Unfortunately, the vet believes that my baby has permanent damage caused from having the infection for an extended amount of time. God knows how long she had that cracked tooth, but one would think that after two rounds of antibiotics didn't work, you would actually seek help. I appreciate the fact that this is a rescue and that funds might even be a little tight....  But my cat will basically have a constant URI for the rest of her life because of an untreated infection. Its wonderful that you guys take them in but it would be nice if a little more care was put in to keeping them healthy too.
