I've brought my cat here since he was a few months old 13 years ago. If you are looking for a veterinary center in Norfolk, Va, you need to look no further. The establishment is always clean, the veterinarians and the staff are great. They make sure to go over all costs of different procedures and services so you can make the best decision for you and your budget. I've never had a problem coming here and will continue to frequent VCA Animal Care Center.

Went to VCA and they clearly didn't understand canine anxiety, we were upfront about dosages of medication, seeing a certified behaviorist, and all previous medical records. Only after they filled the prescription did the vet say she was uncomfortable with the dosage even though it is within the limits. Gave no further explanation even though they told us the dog is in perfect health. Overall lack of communication from the vet.

Made us wait 15 min in our car outside after our scheduled appointment, then another 10 after I called because I don’t have AC and both me and my cats can’t take heat very well. Then when they took our cats to get their meds they didn’t let us in the same room while they treated them. I want to know what you’re doing to my loved ones and if I can’t see what you’re doing I can’t trust that you’re not harming them or not actually doing anything to treat them. Either way, not coming back. Will go to Friendship across the street probably.

My dog had been diagnosed with Addison’s disease and I called this Veterinarian to see my dog. They made a two week appointment and I told the receptionist my dog was dying and she hung up on me and now my dog is DEAD!

In-law's dog has been treated here. They seem busy to the point that they are disorganized and not really on top of things. They did a proper diagnosis but have trouble communicating and following through with call backs. Also, their initial visit was cheap, but after that, the price shot way up. They also casually show up during their opening hours and are not actually open at the time listed. They told us the pet was ready to be picked up 30 minutes prior to them closing. To summarize, they are a good place over all to take your pet, but expect to have to wait around on them a bit, and be ready for a lack of communication/disorganization.

VCA on Little Creek is like family. They are empathetic and compassionate. They give you direct, honest feedback about what is best for your furry family member. They even let me know that using a certain surgeon located elsewhere would save me money. I can't say enough about Dr. Thompson, Lorraine, and the rest of the staff there. I recommend them to family members, friends, and even strangers when the topic of veterinary care comes up.

I didnt have an appointment but they got my dog in quickly as a walk in between appointments. The vet was very thorough and commutative about what was going on with my dog and made sure i understood the steps that we need to take moving forward. Very appreciative of the phone calls i have received after my dogs appointment checking on him.

Everyone working here is very personable and genuinely care for the health and well being of your pets. They also take the time to work with people's schedule so that you aren't stuck with one date or time you can bring your pet in

I sincerely wish I could give zero stars. I brought a rescue dog into this location several years ago. She was seen twice. The first appointment was in November and they persuaded me to sign up for their "animal care plan" (DO NOT do this it's a complete scam.) When I got home and did some research, I asked to have that cancelled. I was told that it had been. I then brought my dog in one more time (all routine care here) and was told that in fact the plan had not been cancelled but would be. I paid at that time and asked AGAIN to have the plan cancelled. The kicker is that ALL the care was completely routine. They charged me for a "microchip" when the dog came from the SPCA micro chipped. They charged me for vaccines she already had. They took advantage of us. I switched providers for my other dogs and have not been back. Fast forward 3 years. Suddenly a $300 charge has showed up on my credit report. It's through a completely different third party and owed to another third party. When I finally tracked down the issue, I found out that it was VCA. I called VCA and the vet office told me that they "don't handle the accounts" and that the care club had a different telephone number. I called the number, and *surprise* was told the hospital was responsible for the charges. The hospital told me "no managers are available" when I called them back and ALBERT who answered the phone on 4/21/20 hung up on me. They sincerely were breezy and chill about me writing this very review. They DO NOT CARE AT ALL. You're going to want to AVOID this place at all costs because in the end it's not about your pet it's about their billing and the "care club" cares about your wallet. Not your pet. They got my $300. They will NEVER get another dime. BEWARE. (NOTICE THAT THEY HAVE RESPONDED THAT I SHOULD EMAIL THEM. I DID. On 4/21. They failed to respond to that email entirely and waiting until 5/28 to post this response here instead of just emailing me back. Their response is ridiculous and the same canned one they leave everywhere in response to the many negative reviews they have. They do not respond to the email much less provide resolution.)

Some of the people here are nice but we really didn't like the vet that we saw. She mentioned the package she "sold" the most. Very poor wording to me. The money should be secondary to the care of the pet. I really didn't like how she phrased that.

Took my puppy there for his first shots. The staff was excellent. I couldn’t have asked for more. They explained everything and where fairly priced compared to others in the same area. Will use them only going forward.

Great service and super quick! With the covid restrictions in place I had to drop my dog off and the tech came and got him. I literally drove up the street to get a bottle of water and before I parked the vet was calling to give me an update! I have never experienced a quicker vet visit and I hope they will keep contactless visits long after the pandemic is over.

I could not have been more pleased with our first visit to VCA Norfolk. Our regular vet is closed due to a COVID exposure and our Labrador appeared to have been bitten by something - we were unsure but needed to be seen right away. I contacted VCA in Norfolk one hour before closing and they were more concerned with how to get our Pup in than logistics and scheduling a later appointment even though it was not technically " an emergency". The office was kind and patient while I shared my anxiety about bringing our girl into a new place and especially since parents cannot go in! They were transparent with pricing from the " walk-in " fee through the diagnosis and reasonably priced for sure. We arrived within 15 minutes of our call, at curbside we were contacted at each step of the process and our girl was diagnosed, treated and brought back to our vehicle within the hour ! I needed records for Insurance and they assured me that they would send to me immediately after the notes were prepared- without a follow up and to my pleasant surprise, everything that I needed was in my inbox this morning as promised- very impressive! . I adore my girl's regular Vet and while I have no intentions to switch care, I now have a reliable and entrusted option if needed and will definitely not hesitate to return to this center. Thank you Dr. Thompson, Office Admin and Vet Tech for a wonderful and comforting experience for us and our Pet! VCA was professional, honest and genuine in all aspects of our experience.
